I don't know... maybe 6 months to a year ago.

Where??? I was just looking at houses for sale in Austin, and I couldn't believe how much the prices had gone up since the last time I looked.
-
I was thinking the same thing! I don't think I've ever seen him with clothes on.

What, are you gonna download some music illegally or something?

Every ticket I've had was issued because I did something wrong, so I've always just paid them. If I thought that I had been wrongly accused then I would take it to court, but I wouldn't abuse the system to get out of a ticket if I knew I had broken the law.

I've decided that if there's a "god", he's a shitty engineer.

But one of the beauties of being a platypus, as opposed to being a human, is that they probably don't spend a lot of time worrying about the meaning of life or wondering if there is a god (and arguing with each other about it)... In fact, their lives are probably pretty simple compared to ours, and simple is good (IMO). Of course, I've never actually discussed this with a platypus, so I could be wrong. -
Water. And maybe some tea or koolaid.

I don't know, but I hope our local hawk isn't reading that book. That dude shoots out some turds that would put even Walt to shame. It's bad enough cleaning them out of the back yard; I wouldn't want to get hit by one of them.

Well it's making me all twitchy... Hmm, perhaps I have it turned up too high.
-
What are you shaking your head about? I only use it to relax my back and my shoulders. In fact, I'm sitting here with it hooked up to my shoulders right now.

Yeah, the Freshman Comp. thing did put me back a whole semester, so I was pretty upset. I should be in the nursing program right now, but now I have to wait until next semester. (That was the only prerequisite I was lacking.) Of course, that was my fault for not getting that straightened out when I first started at this school... But when I did finally turn in my transcript eval, it took them six months to get it back to me! If it had been returned to me even a few months sooner, it would have made a big difference...

I had to take Freshman Composition over the summer, even though I had taken it back in 1993 at another school. I gave them a copy of my transcript from the old school as well as a copy of the 1993 catalog. The class descriptions were basically the same, so I have no idea why they wouldn't accept it. And of course I've been at this school for two years now, writing formal research papers in almost every class I've taken. Oh well, I took the freakin' class (and had a very bad attitude about it ), and now it's over with...

I made a lot of money bartending at a dance club just three nights a week, and it worked well with my school schedule at the time. But I guess that depends on where you live - whether they'll hire you with no experience and whether the club is busy enough to make much money in a short amount of time.

For day-to-day life, why bother? I have no reason to bother, as I do not believe in any sort of god. And those who do believe in a god shouldn't have any reason to bother either, as it should only matter to them.

Or perhaps you need to make up your mind. You can only be a blind religious freak or a religious-freak-hating atheist. There is nothing in between. Right. And deciding that it must be divine intervention would be a cop-out. I seriously doubt that there is any way to prove the existence of God, but I agree that that remains to be seen.

I think we can safely assume that we've only scratched the surface of what there is to know about biology, so to find a new life form that doesn't fit into our current knowledge shouldn't come as a big surprise. And finding a new type of life form--no matter how it reproduces--will in no way prove that there is divine intervention. You're sounding like the creationist/intelligent design people: It's so complex, and we can't explain it; therefore, it must have been created by something more intelligent than us, or there must have been divine intervention.

I have a proposal for all of society. Women, this concerns you.
Shotgun replied to grue's topic in The Bonfire
The ones doing this are trying (and most likely failing) to meet a cool guy. Either that or they prefer themselves drunk and think everyone else does too. Or they prefer themselves drunk, couldn't care less how everyone else prefers them, and couldn't care less about meeting a cool guy. (Or probably countless other reasons.) But of course, that's still not the sort of woman that grue is likely looking for... -
I finally got my schedule sorted out... It's: Spanish 101 Interpersonal Communication Cultural History of American Motion Pictures Dosage/Calculations (part of the nursing program) I think that this is going to be a fun semester. I'm just filling graduation requirements and getting prepared to enter the nursing program. And so far, I love all of my teachers!

Wow, I finally got around to watching this movie, Anatomy! What a fun movie! A bit disturbing, but then I like that sort of stuff.

The Virtue of Selfishness An interesting read...

Ok, thanks... Now I can attempt to 'fix' my computer. I probably did something stupid to it last night (after having a couple of drinks).
-
Or is it just me? I'm guessing it's just my computer, but I thought I'd ask...

This has nothing to do with this thread, but I just realized that I have the perfect girlfriend for you. Well, except that she lives in Cali. Hmm, but I could ship her to you for the right price. Of course, you may not want her since she has no degree and can't answer any of the questions from that poll...
-
I don't think it was the degree that made you arrogant. In general, I think that most people are better off financially and career-wise with a degree than without one. But of course there are exceptions... I won't get into the "better person" thing though; that's too subjective, and I don't tend to think in terms of one person being "better" than another.
