After having a few friends get killed or seriously injured in this sport, I quit trying to talk other people into jumping. If someone doesn't just have a burning desire to try skydiving, it's probably not worth the risk.

No, I have not yet turned into a frat boy.

Here is a brief overview of how alcohol leaves the body: http://recipes.howstuffworks.com/alcohol4.htm It says that about 5 percent of the alcohol in your bloodstream is exhaled through the lungs, and that is what is measured with a breath test.
-
I believe that the breathalyzer is measuring alcohol from your lungs, and that they can estimate the percent in your blood by the amount that registers from the air you blow from your lungs (or something like that). So if you drank enough the night before that your BAC is still over the limit, then you are still driving illegally, and the test is the same as if you had just been drinking. (I'm not 100% sure of that, but I think that's how it is.)

That looks like the same hail that we had today (pic attached).

Grilled stuff... steak, onion, tomato, squash, corn, mushrooms...

Hey, that sounds just like me and my Aussie husband! I swear we get in more arguments just because we can't understand what the hell each other is saying.

Ooh, I'd love to live in North Carolina for a while. And that's a great place for someone who loves hiking and kayaking. Not to mention the good BBQ out there (and that means a lot, coming from a TX BBQ snob!).

Yep, I did that when I moved to Southern California. It was sort of scary, but I met a lot of people pretty quickly at the dz. And I had a blast for about the first year that I was out here, but I can't say that I love it out here. The only time that I've absolutely loved where I lived was in Austin, TX, so I'd recommend that as a place to check out. Lots of outdoorsy stuff to do, and there are a few friendly dropzones nearby. I usually jumped at Skydive San Marcos, about a 45-minute(?) drive from Austin, and I loved that dz. But I don't know what the teacher's salaries are in Austin, and last time I looked, it looks like the housing prices have actually gone up there (as opposed to the serious decline out here in SoCal). Oh, and Austin's a pretty dog-friendly town, so you probably wouldn't have a hard time finding a place that allows dogs. Anyhow, good luck in your search.

Don't they have some sort of maximum income level for who they will provide food for? Anyone who is considered "middle class" should not be getting food from food pantries. If they are unable to manage their finances, then what they need is a financial advisor rather than charity.
-
I didn't know about that, but I guess I'd fall under that category too. Do they say why?

For years I couldn't donate because I didn't weigh enough. And now that I'm finally fat enough () to donate, I found out that I can't anyway, because of prior health issues. I wish I could though, and I certainly wouldn't be afraid of a little needle and some blood.

Actually, I just found out that he was born in December of 1970. So, since we're both June '71 babies, he's still way older than we are. (And yet somehow less mature. ) He also just confided in me that Bret Michaels is the 80's male rock star that he most wanted to fuck..... Oops, did I say that out loud? (Hmm, I now have a visual of Remi in high heels and a wig, auditioning for Rock of Love 3. )

I have heard about Firefox. My son likes it. I may have to give it a shot. Thanks There is also a thread about this in the "Error and Bug Reports" forum. You might want to post in there that you are having the same problem. Personally, I'm not going to switch browsers just because of an error on one website.
-
I've been having this same problem for a while now (XP, IE7). I just checked it again, and it is still causing my browser to quit responding.

Here's a site for one of the companies that does balloon jumps at Perris: http://www.advflights.com/balloonjump.html And another company that came up in the search: http://www.balloonaddicts.com/weddings.htm (Not sure if they let you jump though.)
-
There are balloon pilots around the Perris/Elsinore area in Southern California who regularly take people up for balloon jumps. I don't think it would be a problem to get married in a balloon here, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

A friend of mine just got some of those, and he loves them. I haven't tried them though. Edited to add a pic of his shoes.

The background on my second monitor made that picture even funnier than it already was, so I have to share... Oh, and the kitties are cute too. -
Yes, he's telling us that we should go to the beach.

Do wealthy or powerful people get better treatment?

You know, I have my problems with capitalism too. But, as much as I've thought about it, I've yet to come up with a better alternative. Socialism sounds ideal to me, but it's simply not in our nature to make it work in an ideal manner. It's not in our nature to make capitalism work in an ideal manner either, but we're probably better off living in a corrupt capitalist system than in a corrupt socialist system.
