Tracking suit. When can I start flying one?
LiborJanicek replied to Shredex's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've got 8 jumps now on my Intrudair Tracking Suit and I love it. Since getting it, it's all that I fly now. I have the same goal as you on flying a wingsuit once I reach the 200 mark. I've taken wingsuit training course with Ed up at Lodi. So glad of taken the course since now every exit is wingsuit style while waering my tracking suit. Then processed onto my flight plan. Finding my flight plan is something I'm trying to dial in as quickly as possible. I looked at all the tracking suits and went with Intrudiar since you can't beat the prices and their tracking suit comes with booties. I've flown them once, left like my pants were about to come off. Maybe pants weren't on tight enough. One thing that I have about the tracking suits is that they are real hot to wear. I sweat like a pig and then freeze at about 8k feet once I cools off. I'd highly suggest getting one. This is mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nn5z7SBv1Qs&feature=plcp -

Tracking Suit - Palms Up or Palms Down
LiborJanicek replied to LiborJanicek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
my last tracking suit jump http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9hOmLap3cg&feature=plcp I agree with working out. I've been doing a lot of cross fit type of work outs and notice the difference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7r4p5A4e9vg&feature=plcp -
Tracking Suit - Palms Up or Palms Down
LiborJanicek replied to LiborJanicek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've seen people fly their tracking suits with both palms up and down. Is there an advantage to either? Or is it what ever feels best. I've been flying palms down (palms facing the earth) but after talking to a guy at Z-Hills, it seems like its more of a natural position to fly palms up. It also seems like with palms up it's easier to curve the shoulders. But I do like feeling the wind pressure against my palms. Your thoughts? -
I started jumping at Bay Area Skydiving in NorCal and I have jumped at Skydance, Lodi, and Lake Tahoe (no longer in operation). Now living in SoCal and I jump at both Perris & Elsinore. Both are solid dropzones, things I like about Perris is they have a swimming pool, wind tunnel, and I love jumping out of the Skyvan. Elsinore is cool since I can bring my dirt bike and ride next door at the motorsports complex. A little further south a new dropzone just opened up in Oceanside. U need to have a c-license and they DON'T allow wingsuits. Then u have Skydive San Diego at the bottom of California. I haven't jumped SD yet and hear it's a cool DZ. If u are going to be in NorCal, then go with Lodi. U can't beat $15 jump tickets. Bay Area Skydiving get blown out due to the winds. It's about a 6 hour drive from SoCal to NorCal, might be a hair longer depending on where u are going. It's about 386 miles if I remember correctly. I live just south of LAX airport and it takes me about an hour and a half to get to either Perris, Elsinore, or Oceanside. San Diego is over a 2 hour drive. Traffic sucks down here so if u are traveling in prime-time then it'll take longer.

Best place to jump near Tampa, FL

After 4 days of filming at the 2012 RNC I headed out to Z-Hills for a couple of jumps. Had a great time ever if it was hot as F@$%*. Here's a video of one of my jumps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9hOmLap3cg&feature=plcp -
agree that the snag factor is huge problem. with a correct design such as having the helmet taper straight back and end with a square point might work. my point with these kind of helmets is not for the average flyer but for the competitors. At some point an advanced flyers skill set will get to a point where they'll look at other ways to increase performance.

a while ago I was thinking of the same idea and started this thread http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4349698;page=unread#unread also photoshop'd the attached pic. the top helmet is a speed skiing or speed skateboard helmet and the other is a cycling helmet. i'm going to work with my fiberglass guy and see what we can come up with.

If you get a chance to jump out of a skyvan, it's fun to hang off the step up bar. Get down on your knees, grab the bar and flip out with holding onto the bar. Then let go when ready. It's specially fun with u do the exit with another jumper. https://vimeo.com/43492886

I was in your shoes earlier this year. I started jumping in 1995 and left in Sept 1999. This past April I did my re-currency jump at Skydive Perris. Had to spend some time in ground school and then did 1 jump with an instructor. And yes it's like riding a bike. I have way less jumps than you do with an A-License and I had no problems. Before I went out for my re-currency jump I made sure my USPA membership was up to date and I sent my rig in to be inspected and reserve repacked. I did have to rent a rig for my jump due to not having a AAD. here's my re-currency jump https://vimeo.com/40624539 It feels good being back in the sport and welcome back

looking for rides to Perris/Elsinore

I'm in El Segundo (next to LAX airport) but mostly jump on weekends. Once in a great while I can jump on Mondays -
I agree with you piisfish on that valuable skills are to be learned in belly flying. I try and very the types of jumps I do when ever possible. But I love the forward movement of tracking and with a wingsuit it'll just get better. I kinda feel that arching during belly flying hinders me when I'm tracking or training for wingsuit. I really need to de-arch, lock up the arms/legs and pump it out there. I've jump my Intrudair tracking suit 3 times now and I love it. Still getting the feel of it and haven't jumped it with the booties. Another thing I've been doing is altering my gym work outs to strengthen up my core and upper body for better performance during flights. So here's a video of my adventures a couple weeks ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPE2Xtbace0&feature=plcp Maybe I am becoming a 1 trick monkey. But the way I see it is if I can increase my flight time in a wingsuit, why would I ever want to go back to belly flying. The future looks bright for for performance wingsuit flying and I want to experience it.

So this past Saturday got a chance to do one tracking suit jump at Elsinore. Shot video but it's ok http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-x49KNgN1pc&feature=plcp I loved flying the suit and can't wait to fly it more.

NWFlyer, I agree with u on that there are other things I can work on to improve flight time. Yes I do have 132 jumps and this weekend I'll be flying new Intrudair tracking suit for my first time. I'm working my way toward flying a wing suit and I've even gone as far as getting coaching so I can work on body positioning till I reach the 200 jump mark. https://vimeo.com/44676505 Between renders I was checking out stuff online and was wondering if the Pressurized helmet really worked. Then I started looking around at other aero helmets and that's what got me thinking. Funny thing that you mentioned shave body hair for swimming. I've been a competitive swimmer all my life and yes I've shaved my body many times for champs. First time was around the age of 10 when I first shaved off all my hair along with some skin. We even went as far as lubing our bodies with baby oil. For champs when winning is separated by 1-100 of a second, then shaving your body can determine the winner. In the future I can see wing suit competitors using some sort of these type of helmets to gain an advantage. But of a none competitor, it's not worth it.

Why wouldn't you want a helmet that improves your wing/tracking suit flight time as long as it doesn't affect safety. I think we are just scratching the surface of improving aerodynamic during wing/tracking suit flights. I believe we can use technology from speed skiing/downhill speed skateboarding and incorporate it into skydiving helmets for improved flight time. Road cycling using aero helmets typically save 30-60 seconds for every hour of riding. I have no idea what type of affect these type of helmets might have during flight. Some aero helmet manufactures have recently launched helmets with golf ball dimple texture on them for better laminar airflow. The wind tunnel testing Pressurized did with their tracking suits and helmet seems like it'll improve flight time. Still waiting to see video of the helmet in action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvpDuUJ8giA&feature=plcp

Has anyone here ever fly with a Pressurized Supersonic Helmet? http://www.pressurized.at/products/supersonic-helmet/

Hoping next week/end I get to fly the suit. Got dialed in with a new POV camera called Replay XD so for sure I'll be getting some footage.

My Intrudair tracking suit came in today. Originally I was looking at the Tube 3 and then I heard PF was coming out with a new one. So I emailed PF, they told me that their suit is coming out soon and it's not for novice flyers. Then I got turned on to Intrudair by a fellow DZ member, and you can't beat the price. Tube 3 run 530€, PF's current price is 415€ but don't know if price will remain the same for their new suit, and an Intrudair is 345€ with shipping/tax. I've been told that the booties take a little bit to getting used to. I've got 132 jumps now, 115 of them were done between the years of 1995 - 1999. Got re-current this April and been jumping as much as I can. I'm really looking forward to flying the tracking suit and I'll post video as soon as I jump it.

Nice one, I'll be in Tampa a week long filming at the RNC. Friday is my only free day to jump. Hopefully I can get off early or have a late call time and squeeze more jumps in. I'll def be there early on Friday. -
Best place to jump near Tampa, FL
LiborJanicek replied to LiborJanicek's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Last week in August I'll be out in Tampa, FL for work. Have Friday, Aug. 31 free to jump, flight leaves back home @ 6pm. Where would be the best/closest dropzone? thx -
Thanks for the tips. I guess it's not to bad since I just got current after leaving the sport in Sept. 1999 with 115 jumps. Since April I've been able to get 17 more jumps and up to 132. Flying a wingsuit is what got me back into the sport and doing what ever I can to make it happen.

Nice. I can do my water training at Perris. 68 more jumps to go, then I can get my C License, strap on a wing suit, and jump the new dropzone in Oceanside. Fired Up
