  1. I want to see that new Venom! Apex BASE #1816
  2. Some riggers will lengthen your current bridle. Worth asking before buying a new setup. I've had it done twice, worked out well both times. Apex BASE #1816
  3. I've heard rumors as well. For a new Havok and Venom. I do think there's a good business-case to be made for leaking photos... Apex BASE #1816
  4. LOL! Enough of this. I'm going to go fly my wingsuit today. Apex BASE #1816
  5. That just seems like a very presumptuous and disrespectful thing to say coming from somebody with zero experience. We all were new once (I still consider myself a relatively new skydiver, and a very new BASE jumper). We all asked ridiculous questions. I just took offense when he started talking about how other jumpers are "idiots" for going in, and how his bicycle skills give him a qualified view of the sport. But whatever. Internet! 6. Since you have zero jumps, that means I'd have to have a negative number of friends. One of two things is true here: 1. You don't know how friends work. 2. You don't know how numbers work. I think the proper retort would have been that your jump number matches the number of friends I have. Partial credit though, because I do think it was a clever response. Apex BASE #1816
  7. Not everyone's advice will begin with please and end with thank you. Take the lesson and try not to look a gift horse in the mouth. I look forward to hearing from you again when your jump numbers exceed your post count. You've got some work to do. Apex BASE #1816
  8. Dumbest logic (or lack thereof) ever. Videos of accidents are one of the best ways to understand the risk and prepare yourself for your inevitable "oh sh*t" moments. They also help shape your decision-making and judgement. My aggressiveness was dialed back (in a big way) after a friend died on a WS BASE jump. Read the BFL. Ignorance is death, not bliss, in this game. No matter how many bicycles you've ridden. Apex BASE #1816
  9. I've also heard some rumors of a new Havok. Where are the PF guys with the pics!? Apex BASE #1816
  10. Just skip to BASE jumping. It will be faster and there aren't all these crazy rules. Also, you should always base your gear choices purely on looks. That's how Jeb Corliss does it. Try to get sponsored by Tapout Clothing as quickly as possible. You're going to get laid so much. Apex BASE #1816
  11. No.* *Footnote: I don't swoop. Apex BASE #1816
  12. Yeah! Damn kids and their "rock music." Apex BASE #1816
  13. Last I heard it was going to be offered in two color schemes. Hot pink, and silver glitter. If anyone understands their marketplace, it's these guys! Apex BASE #1816
  14. Havok all day. Apex BASE #1816
  15. Because a complete failure of the main, or "total malfunction" means the main never comes out of the container (e.g. pin lock). An RSL works by connecting your departing main canopy to the reserve pin (cable). If the main never departs, the pin never gets pulled via the RSL. Apex BASE #1816
  16. Okay, maybe this is a little excessive (from the Squirrel Site): It did make me literally LOL though! Apex BASE #1816
  17. Good on Matt for standing up here. It's a lot easier to be a critic than a creator. He's helped the sport tremendously and should be well respected whether you fly his suits or not. Whether or not you like Squirrel's products you can't deny that they bring new ideas and technology to the table. This technology benefits all of us both directly (when flying his suits) and indirectly (when your brand of choice has to step their game up in a competitive marketplace). Keep doing what you're doing Matt, Tony, and Robbi. We appreciate it. Apex BASE #1816
  18. Those are pretty much my thoughts as well. PF dominates the small-mid sized market (and the niche Vampire market) but when you get to the bigger stuff Tony and Squirrel really shine. I'm anxious to see the new V5R and Venom to see how PF steps up here. Also seems to me, like you said, that the Viper/V5 tails needs an adjustment. Not an overhaul, but an ammendment. Apex BASE #1816
  19. Now that's what I'm talkin' about. I figured as much. Jarno, I think it's in PFs best interest to leak some photos. Might make some of us think twice before blowing our tax returns on a new Squirrel! Apex BASE #1816
  20. Seems to me that these two updates could/should be in development. Any rumors out there on this? The Viper hasn't gotten quite the reception that the PF folks may have hoped for. Especially in contrast to the new kid on the block, the Aura. So I figure there might be some tinkering taking place around this one. The Venom hasn't been refreshed for a while now and with the flood of more big suit competition it seems like it could be due as well. Everything else seems pretty fresh, P3, Havok, Ghost 3, V5, etc. So PF folks, any teasers out there for us or should I just buy an Aura now? Apex BASE #1816
  21. Would this record not "count" if they just direct-bagged it off a balloon? Seems like you'd significantly decease your chances of a high speed mal. ***Edit: Now that I watch the video it looks like they are DBagging it out of the plane. Apex BASE #1816
  22. More range. Anytime there's a big suit flock I struggle in the V4. It's not a hang time float machine obviously. So I guess the answer is hang time with a growing interest in XRW. Apex BASE #1816
  23. I've done that. The Squirrel guy recommended an Aura, the Tony guy recommended an X, and the PF guy recommended a Venom. I'm just looking for a larger sample size of opinions. Apex BASE #1816
  24. My progression has been P2 -> Havok -> V4. I'd like to look at something a little larger and was thinking of an original X-Bird. Any thoughts on X1 vs. X2 vs. X3? My thinking is that the X1 is slightly smaller and may be a better transition into the Tony style of flying from the PF line rather than just going for the X3. Besides...once you get into suits that size I'd probably just go for an Aura. So is my thinking misguided? Is the X1 a reasonable (and maybe even necessary) step between the V4 and X3/Aura? Or is it a relatively minor intermediate step that is easily skipped over? And I haven't really given much thought to the X2. Maybe that's an even better next step. I'm just not very clear on the difference between the 3 aside from the fact that each upgrade in the series also provides a slightly larger wing/volume. Lastly, even if you order a new X1 my assumption is that Tony's newest tips and tricks will be applied during production. So it's not like he goes back a few years technologically to make the suit. He just applies new technology to the older style platform. Any guidance here is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Apex BASE #1816
  25. Here's what I do: 1. Free arms, use rears to clear space 2. Free legs, stow legwing 3. Collapse slider, stow behind my head 4. Unstow toggles 5. Loosen chest strap Apex BASE #1816
