Yes I did read all 45 pages (why, did you confuse me with a US senator who's said on camera that they don't like reading the very bills they sign into law) and yes a couple of topics were wake up calls as lies by Mr Moore. But knowing how Michael Moore works, this was no surprise. As far as you points concerning Moore growing up in an affluent area if Flint. Who cares? He's trying to make a case for the people who are unable to make a case for themselves. Or is the only thing that counts in this country the almigthy dollar. Yes America is the land of opportunity for those people who have the finacial well being. But it's a pretty shitty place for those without the resources and the opportunities. And the basic message I took from that movie was that the rich have been fucking over the poor for so long and Mr Moore is only trying to stand up for the poor (as he's done with his at least one of his other movies). But if people don't give a shit about their fellow citizens, then how the hell can they be expected to make this world a better place. And is a country that doesn't give a shit about their poor really worth all the lives that GWB is claiming is needed to protect the American way of life? Well I guess it just doesn't matter as long as GWB is controlling Iraq's oil as well as awarding all his buddies who put him into office in the first place with lucrative rebuilding contracts. I mean at the end of the day, the only thing a rich man is worried about is his money and who he can exploit to get more money. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Saddam was a monster. And in that respect, at least the world has one less monster to worry about. But is GWB any less of a terrorist in the eyes of the Iraqi people (or more importantly the eyes of the Arab world). Put yourself in their shoes for a second. If the roles were reversed, would you stand by while a foreign power invaded your country and killed your friends and family? Knowing how patriotic Americans are, I think it's an easy question to answer. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I guess you choose not to listen to what the UN weapons inspectors were saying. They were saying that they couldn't find any WMD. But did GWB listen to them? No because he had his own agenda. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Yes the Middle East was already a pretty fucked up place. And who is to blame? Might you want to look who's built up such a reliance of fossel fuels? Might you want to look at who's tried to dominate and surpress the Arab nations this last century? GWB is not at fault for the fuck ups which already existed in the Middle East. But he is responsible for the latest unfinished chapter and he is responsible for the lives of thousands of innocent Iraqs as well as innocent American service men and women who have already died (or will die). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I am sorry for your losses and yes the world did become a more dangerous place after 9/11. But GWB has made it even more dangerous. He had no business going into Iraq. But he's there. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

This website is filled with just as much propaganda that a Mr. Moore's movie is filled with facts (hence the reason why I said it's understandable why some people don't like the guy). Yes Michael Moore has a way of portraying a story in a twisted manner to get his points across. But like him or hate him, he is passionate about his country and all he is trying to do is to make people stand up and take notice of regime which runs the risks of taking America into place this country has never been before. Oh and I love the way this website nit-picks at the slightest details in order to build a case against Mr Moore. One of my favorites from the website is the claim that Mr Moore is not from Flint Michigan but instead is from a suburb of Flint, called Davison. Well I'm sorry when someone asks me where I grew up, I don't say Dollard-Des-Ormeaux. I say Montreal. In case some of you haven't figured this out, I've been trying to bait on many of the Bush lovers out there. I know shit about Kerry (and this is a good thing as I am NOT allowed to vote). But the Bush lovers are fooling themselves if they think their beloved president is going to save us all. I fear that the world has become a much more dangerous place since Bush decided that Iraq needed to be invaded and occupied and for what? Oh yes the WMD. What WMD? So who's next Iran, Syria? And will it ever end or will Bush go down in the history books (assuming anyone is left in the future to read the history books) as the man who started it. Time will tell. Are you Americans ready and willing to pay a huge humanitarian as well as financial toll just so that you can dominate group of people who every day grow more and more hatred towards you? Can America defeat Islam when America turns the entire Islamic world against them? Including those Islamic people already within America's borders. And what about all the other groups of nations which are not fond of America's arrogance (I'm talking about the Feds, not the American people). Unfortunately America is in Iraq now and can not leave anytime soon. But rest assured things are going to get a lot worse before they get better (if they get better) and you'll only have GWB to thank for the countless more Americans who will die in the middle east as well as the dire financial state that the western world is rapidly finding themselves in. It's a good thing that I have accepted my mortality as I'd hate to be one of those whuffos who is scared of life (like all the terrorism hype this fills the media) and even worse, scared of death. Thanks for fucking things up George. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Is this a blanket statement because you don't like Michael Moore (it's understandable why people don't like the guy) or would you care to point out these allegations one by one. Please enlighten us ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I would like to see the results of "who was or is the most dangerous president". Clinton ranks up here as a bad president because of his ethics and poor morals. But he was hardly dangerous, dangerous as in he never started WWIII like a certain current president may or may not have already done. But I don't know enough of some of the old school presidents to make a proper decision as to who is more dangerous. But I'd be willing to bet that the current monkey in office would rank pretty high as to who the most dangerous president was or is. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Come around to what? Your view of the world? So if someone disagrees with you, then they are automatically misguided and warped? LOL ... you're killing me over here. Who made you the expert? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

LOL ... I come to DZ.COM to talk about skydiving, not to listen to people blabber their misguided and skewed politcal ideas. Okay I know this is the "Speakers Corner" where people are allowed to spew their political views. But maybe you can see a similarity between what you just said, what I said and how people are supposedly free to speak their own minds in this country. Or are the only people who are allowed to vent their views the ones who see the world the same way you see it? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Actually a certain local DZ to myself had a boogie not long ago where they charged a boogie fee, yet they DIDN'T provide beer. So I'm pissed off that us beer drinkers were alienated. Well I'm not really pissed, I just wanted to let you know that whining about paying for beer is about as ridiculous as myself whining about not having beer provided. As many people have already stated, boogie fees go towards many things, not just beer. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

If you can ensure that you're the last person in the air when you land, then landing a different direction isn't as big of an issue. But remember this if you are jumping at a large DZ or a large boogie. There could be multiple aircraft in the air at the same time and someone else from a different load could be also be setting up to land. I had a landing at this year's Eloy Holiday Boogie where I tried to be the first one down to set the pattern and myself and another guy (on my load) went opposite directions in the main landing area. But little did I realize that there was another person in the air with us from a different load going the same direction of this other guy. Well when push comes to shove, I was the one at fault and Pixie (Betsy) in a nice way was sure to make sure that she slapped my wrist for my mistake. Follow the first person down, if you don't like the direction they've set, land off. And knowing the local preferred landing direction when the winds are low is also good to know. Heck it's lower than the altitude I'd initiate a 270 on my Crossfire2 with (a non-crossbraced elliptical canopy for those who didn't know this), let alone whatever altitude you'll eat up waiting for the canopy to properly pressurize. I'm thinking that the only way to make this jump (if you were crazy enough to do it) was to land straight onto the beach or straight onto the water. But I guess there's always going to be someone who needs to try the balls'y stuff to try and make themselves stand out above everyone else. But for me highly loaded ellipticals (they don't even have to be cross-braced) are made for the skydiving swooping environment not the BASE environment (I hate to state the obvious). Dang ... I'm enjoying swooping and BASE jumping these days. You'd think I could find two safer activities to float my boat. But these are the two which seem to have me captivated at this time. Just don't fuck up right. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Kristi ... if you feel compelled to buy beer for this, then I'm sure the people at your DZ drinking the beer wouldn't complain. But I don't think being the last one out of the airplane for the first time is a beer-able offense (I mean it's not like you were doing your first hop n' pop or your first reserve ride, or anything like that). But if you want a strange feeling story similar to yours, back in mid April I was jumping in Eloy during the week and I was on this Otter load with about 7-8 other people. But everyone on the load (except for myself who was doing a wingsuit jump) got out low for a hop n' pops and I was left alone on the Otter (with the pilot of course) all the way to altitude. Now that was weird. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

0:9:0 My jumping weekend was cut short (I only jumped on Saturday) due to a minor foot injury I suffered while swooping our swoop course in moderate downwind conditions. I managed to run out the landing, but the force exerted on my right ankle when I first touched down was hard enough to cause some sort of injury. You'd never know I was hurt if you just watched me land and walk away. But it is sore (and yes lessons were learned and it was more than just a don't downwind your landings lesson). Now I'm likely to miss volleyball this week, but I am optimistic that I will be back in the air next weekend. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Why skydivers are great! (the story of the lost ring)
CanuckInUSA replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
Likewise with a lost ProTrack (or two). Those don't seem to get returned by skydivers as it's easy for them to use it or sell it as opposed to a lost engagement ring. But myself and a friend (who also lost theirs) are ultimately to blame for losing our respective ProTracks on different weekends and at different DZs. Good God people ... did you not see that my original post was intended as a JOKE!!! Yet here all of a sudden it's turned into yet another "Speakers Corner" hot topic for some to debate between the vegatarians and meat eaters. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Yes I know. It's no fun swooping into a 15 mph headwind (and who wants to downwind it at those speeds). But you can always crosswind it. Go jump!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

What part of "John Kerry for sure is not the answer." (which I wrote) do you not understand? Or are you one of those selective posters which likes to manipulate what others say? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

LOL ... yes I forgot. The United States DID NOT INVADE a soveign nation. It was all fiction just as the thousands of dead Iraqis and hundreds of dead American service men and women is fiction as well. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Oops ... my bad ... you're right ... laddie. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I saw the movie tonight and I enjoyed it. It really makes you think about the rich and the poor and how the rich have been fucking over the poor ... always have and always will. And this from someone who is educated, makes good money in corporate America and historically been a capitalist. But I'm pretty sure that once my current corporate gig is up (likely within the next 12 months as the startup company I work for doesn't have enough customers), it'll be time to cutaway (I think ... I hope). Personally I think western society is in trouble (every dominant society in human history has fallen, so what makes America think it's any different). John Kerry for sure is not the answer. But GWB and his crownies are definitely not the solution either. This Iraq war was unjust and was a fabrication to make GWB and his friends even more rich that what they already are. And at what cost? The lives of innocent Iraqis and American service men and women. Yes Sadam was a monster. But so is GWB. Now you're not going to sucker me into some political debate because personally I'd much rather be jumping. But we're in a vicious cycle of monsoon weather here in CO, so I had nothing else to do after work today except to check out this movie. If you like GWB and think he's the best guy for the job. Then vote for him. It's your right. But just remember that he doesn't give a shit about the average person. All he cares about is his $$$. Then again there are too many people in America that only give a shit about $$$ and care little about the people they fuck over in the pursuit of the almighty dollar. Time to go get my mind off of this movie as the topic at hand is pretty depressing. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
