  1. There was people who were closer to Holly than I was (I was a casual friend at best), but she was a special woman. My heart was broken the day Betsy broke the news to us about Holly and I'm sure yours as well as people close to Adria are feeling the same way right now. B.S.B.D. 2. I'm sure Holly was there in Heavan to welcome Adria. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. Since January I've made about 250 skydives and another 30+ BASE jumps. But I don't feel all that current as I haven't jumped much in the last month due to an injury. But the injury is healing nicely and I should be pretty busy this fall with many skydiving and BASE jumping weekends in the works (assuming I stay healthy). 4. I have a D and only once has having a D benefited me. This occured just last month ago at the July 4th Wildwood PST Beach Boogie where only the PST guys/gals and D licensed skydivers were allowed to jump at the event. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You bring up a good point about possible site burning (something not applicable in the skydiving video I created last year). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

    new base video

This brings up the question of who owns the rights for some jumping footage. Are the rights owned by the person who owns the camera and videos the footage, or are the rights owned by the person(s) seen jumping. Purgery is one thing (and technically I am guilty of this on my one non-profit, non-BASE jumping video I've made to date as I actually spent money out of my own pocket to give people copies of my video, it's not like I tried to profit off of someone else's work). But if you were part of these jumps or the footage came from your camera, I would think that you have just as many rights to use that footage than the people who used it before you. In fact I'm more concerned about the entertainment value of a video and the more bad ass footage that we see, the better. On the question of who owns the rights, not long ago I videoed a jump of someone using my camera. The person didn't like the resulting footage and was obviously worried that I would show it to others. So while I wasn't watching, they erased the footage from my camera. Now I'm not all that worried about what happened in this case. I do consider this person a friend and there is no point risking losing a friend because of it. But who owns the rights to the footage. The person who owns the camera/tape and who videoed the jump. Or the person(s) seen on the video making the jump? By the way, any video with Jeb on it I'm sure will be worth seeing. 7. While you're at it, let's delete every useless thread (god knows there are tons of them here) on DZ.COM. Good God I was trying to share some humor here. Hasn't anyone noticed that about 1/2 a dozen people reported in the incidents forum about the double mal in SA? I don't know about you, but I skip over at least 98% of the threads on DZ.COM because there are just not enough hours in the day to read much of the useless things which gets said here. 8. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the reason. Oh well, it's the NCAA's and their fans loss that a world class gifted athlete will not be seen on the football field this season. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. Well he's obviously not that famous for some of you if nobody has heard of him (despite the fact that he play two years of NCAA Division I football for CU, competed in the 2002 Winter Olympics and is the current World Champion in Freestyle Moguls skiing). But I guess you've got to be in this part of the country to know anything about him. This statement is not a slam on you, it's understandable if you don't know about his football career if you don't get to see CU games on TV. The thing that gets me is this: It just doesn't make sense. Yes Bloom was/is aware of the NCAA rules. He's just trying to get them to see the difference between having a basketball player (as an example) accepting endorsement money for basketball. The guy is after all trying to win World Cup and Olympic medals for his country in skiing while still trying to pursue a football career because he has the talent to compete in both sports. 10. He is after all, the reigning World Champion in freestyle moguls. But I guess you've got to following World Cup Freestyle Skiing (or the Winter Olympics) to know this. There are thousands and thousands of NCAA athletes. How many World Cup Freestyle skiers are there? Not many. The guy is a gifted athlete and the NCAA has fumbled the ball again because of their out dated rules and regulations. Oh and don't be surprised if you see him in an NFL uniform after the 2006 or 2010 Winter Olympics. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. I'm sick and tired of all the political mumbo-jumbo on these boards. Let's add some sports controversy to the mix. Anyone familar with the NCAA versus world class moguls skier/football player Jeremy Bloom? This was taken from the Chicago Tribune website today: The thing that really gets me is this statement: WTF I say? How is accepting money as being a professional athlete different than accepting money from sponsors. I can understand the NCAA's position if this money was accepted for an athlete competing in the same sport. But Bloom is accepting money for his skiing career, not football career. 12. Does Rainer Beer still have those nifty-neat-o commercials? I remember seeing some pretty funny ones back in the 80s (such as a guy riding a motorcycle and reving the engine "Rain-er-beer" and another one in a Greg Stump skiing moving where a heard of Rainer is see crossing the road). 13. A never knew angels were shallow. I always thought they had a certain amount of integrity in them? In all seriousness (keeping in mind that I am no expert), I am under the impression that unless you've really got your hook altitudes dialed in (in which case you're likely to generate more speed), then a long carving turn is better as it allows us to build and maintain speed while still giving us plenty of time to evaluate and adjust our turn. 16. Come on dude fess up. You didn't need women's beach volleyball to consume those beers, eat that pizza and kill those kittens. All that stuff was going to happen regardless of what was on TV. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. As a beach volleyball player, I did watch these matches for the volleyball. But those girls are hot all at the same time and it only makes watching them more enjoying. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. I guess since the men run 110 meters I assume the women would do the same. Don't assume anything right? Otherwise you're libel to make an ASS out of U and ME. Oh and this 100 meter womens hurdles final is set to take place very soon (in less than 15 minutes if I'm not mistake). Hey by the way Remi, did your pals ever release that DVD of Adrenaline Rush or is it still held up because it's still playing in some IMAX theaters? Remember who promised who a copy of it once it came out. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. Any judged event is open for controversy. In fact a sport which I would love to see in the Olympics, the Pro Swoop Tour guys and gals would not be immune from such controversies. Plus there's been a number of gymnastic judging fouls ups during this Olympics. Check out this one. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. Cool ... and I'm hoping that the World Champion hurdler (I forget her name) can rock the world in her 110 meter hurdles final. Oh and I was really impressed with the effort those Quebec girls made in their Quarters Finals beach volleyball match against arguably the best team in the world May/Walsh. 21. Skreamer will be there? Cool ... now I have someone to BASE jump with me off of TallGuy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. When jumping in traffic, 90s and 180s are the way to go. But when traffic is not an issue a well executed 270 can be fun and generate great swoop distances. But I'm not sure a 360 will really help much unless you're already very proficient at 270s. I know some people do more than 270s, but watch most PST guys and gals and 270s are their preferred means of generating speed. Just make sure you play up high to learn your canopy before you bring anything down low and I'm sure you already knew this. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  24. We all know that his landing was not clean (mistake #1), but what was his 2nd mistake? Keep in mind I have an untrained eye. In retrospective, I think the medal results were almost right. The Italian had the best routine and deserved the gold and Hamm did do well and should get the silver. But the question was who should get the bronze? If Aleksei did indeed make two mistakes, then maybe he shouldn't get the bronze (but his rountine minus the landing was still awesome). The other Hamm brother did have a good landing, but he only did one release move and years ago this release move might have been considered difficult, but compared to the Japanese guy, it was easy. But the Japanese guy only did one release move as well (albeit a really cool flip) and his landing wasn't clean. The Gold and Silver was awarded correctly, but who deserved the bronze? The Japansese guy, Aleksei or the other Hamm brother? In my untrained eye, these multiple difficult release moves must count for something. But so does a good landing. I know ... blame Canada!!! 25. I'm not dull, but I'm also not the sharpest crayon in the box. So maybe my info on the history of deaths at the WFFC is wrong. It was still a pleasant sight to see nobody bounce at this year's convention. But this weekend was not a good weekend for the guy in Lodi, the girl in Perris Valley and the BASE jumper in Switzerland. Question: Has Adria passed on? This hasn't been all that clear in the incidents reports. I didn't know her, but from the pictures I've seen we've lost and angel to the heavens.
