Hey Samer This has nothing to do with Adria, but we met a couple of months ago while you were at a certain legal span in potato land while you were there with Abby. Hope things are well with you and I just wanted you to know that you rocked that weekend. There's no way in hell we could have done as many jumps as we did with out your excellent ground crew help. Plus I hope you enjoyed the thing you did at the end of the weekend. Will we see you up there again in the future? Steve Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

How am I supposed to jump and party with AggieDave and his posse when he's in FL instead of AZ. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

This accident was preventable and it's perfectly understandable to hear someone say "I'm tired of these fatalities" as education and putting the right mind set into people's heads can prevent this sort of thing happening. The disturbing part about this thread is that some people feel it's inappropriate for other people (especially low-timers) to offer condolences assuming that the only reason why we offer condolences is to bring attention to ourselves. And to that I call bullshit. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Hey don't forget. The only thing that is important to GWB is his war on terror. Nothing else matters. I saw him on TV last weekend where he said these Swift Boat ads against Kerry were wrong. But what were the next words out of his mouth? "But who do you want to lead the war on terrror?". The guy has a one track mind. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Well the World Cup hockey tournament starts next week. Some of my friends were just getting prepared for the big games. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

High: Coming off of two great nights of beach volleyball where I've possibly played my best matches (hey watching some of the Olympics volleyball has inspired me). But I'm tired now as I played 3 hours worth of volleyball tonight to go along with 1 hour last night. Low: Missing good friends who have left us. Yes "Jessie the Jeep" is fun and she's worth more than my rigs (but not much more). Hey I resurrected one of my other vehicles this week. "Holly the Honda" named after this girl I dated in the mid 90s and she's a 1996 Honda CBR600F3 Motorcycle (yes it's a crotch rocket) and she's felt neglected as she's been garaged for the last 4 years. But I was out stretching her legs today at lunch and had a lot of fun riding her. I'm torn as a made her road worthy again in anticipation of selling her, but after today I want to keep her. Oh and she's worth less dollarwise than my rigs. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Now that you bring this up Dom, let me share with you guys the short story of the first time I met my dear friend Holly. I was on an Otter during the Eloy Holiday Boogie two years ago. It was my 100th jump and we told people on the airplane this. Well guess who was on the airplane and guess who gave me a good lucky kiss? Holly Kish that's who. Then later on after talking on the ground we found out that we were both DZ.COMers (FreeFlyHol the creator of the High/Low thread which still gets added to, to this date). So imagine what might have been going through my mind and what sort of emotions I may have felt if this was the time that I was sitting across the plane from Holly, when she gave me this kiss but then proceeded to have her fatal accident. Thank god it wasn't as I was given the opportunity to get to know the girl a little and was fortunate enough to call her my friend. Once again, B.S.B.D Adria. It's my loss that I never got to meet you. But from the way people have described you here, you and my friend Holly will be "Partying like Rock Stars" (one of Holly's favorite sayings) in Heaven. Gee Brad I'm sorry to create some extra melodrama for you to sift through when I mention that my friend Holly ("Party Like a Rock Star" Holly as we still miss you) would be greeting someone I never met, never knew in Heaven. Was I trying to bring attention to myself with this post? Was I trying to make myself seem important? No ... I was just trying to extend some comforting words out there to friends of Adria that I had an idea as to what sort of emotions they were having to deal with. Despite the fact that I know there were plenty of people who were closer to Holly than I was, the girl touched me from the moment I met her (I will spare you the story of how Holly and I met, but it is pretty cool), the times I got to party with Holly (limited as they were) and the email messages we exchanged (including the one a week or so before her death when she told me how excited she was that she would be moving to CA that summer). So when Betsy told us about Holly's accident I was in shock and was heart broken. I would also like to add that every day I am at work I am reminded of my dear lost friend as I have her picture and memorial "24 Things To Remember" handout hanging on my wall. So instead of slamming people who are trying to extend of word of comfort and slamming the people who haven't been in the sport all that long or don't have that many jumps. Maybe you should realize that some of these people are just trying to find their niche and maybe trying to find friends here. It wasn't all that long ago that both you and I were low timers and neither one of us can be considered a seasoned jumper (check back with me in 10 years when we both have thousands of incident free jumps). Yes there is a lot of post whoring going on at DZ.COM and yes there are a lot of people with low jump numbers and high post numbers. But what harm is it for anyone to try and offer words of condolences to a lost brother/sister. We are a community (albeit usually very dysfunctional) and the more we reach out to each other, the less we will be strangers. I agree that people need to learn the lessons of Adria's mistake so as to hopefully not repeat them (so maybe some of these low-timers do need to spend more time reading what not to do and less time post-whoring). But hopefully people also realize that this is a dangerous sport, accidents do happened and that swooping is very unforgiving of any sort of error. Shit even swoopers with thousands of jumps are capable of messing themselves up (thinking of Dewey from Canon City right now). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Just don't make fun of the huge FLiK logo on the bottom of my canopy. Been there, done that. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

That's fucked up (and you know how I feel about guns). My first reaction was why couldn't they go after the guy selling it to the drug dealer? But then why is it his fault (assuming his transaction with the drug dealer was legit). So now I sit here thinking that this whole situation is FUBARed as sueing one person or another isn't going to bring back the dead child. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

After coming home from volleyball last night, I was channel surfing (between the Olympics and other stuff) and I think I caught the very end of this. I saw this 2 second clip where some guy ran out of the harness (with cops holding on to it) and he then proceeded to jump off of the building. They didn't show the guy in the air and/or bouncing. They just showed the guy jump off of the building. Is this what you're talking about? It was kind of weird and I didn't know what to think of it, except that I sort of knew it was a joke what with the background laugh track and the fact that it was on Comedy Central. I have a '89 Toyota Supra. Visually she looks like crap (red paint faded and all that), but mechanically she is an awesome vehicle and is worth way more to me than I'd ever get for selling her (seeing as she's be paid off for years now). But yes all three of my rigs (two skydiving and one BASE rig) are all worth more than my car. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I knew she was out in Eloy back in March/April as I was supposed to hook up with her with a little birdman action in April when I got my suit. But she ended up spending the weekend in Idaho when I was in Eloy. Winnie and I also had this really fun day at Keystone last January (me being on skis and her on a snowboard). She's quite the speed demon. What dates is that happening on again? I likely can't take anytime off of work for it, but who knows. My company is in trouble and who knows if I'll even be working? Hopefully I won't need to chop this time around and if I do, I hope to hold on to them. I need to try and get in touch with little Ms Winnie Chang to see if she's planning on making it out to Eloy this year. The last time I heard from her, she was spending the summer in Kjerag hucking herself off of their cliffs with her wingsuit (and she was part of a womens world record there earlier this year). On other thing to add onto what Drew just said, learn the slow flight characteristics of your canopy (I got this advise indirectly from John Leblanc early on in my skydiving career). Not only will this help you save you bacon when something goes wrong in the pattern, but knowing how to fly your canopy in its slow flight characteristics is integral in the setup for a good swoop. As a beach volleyball player, I did watch these matches for the volleyball. But those girls are hot all at the same time and it only makes watching them more enjoying. I was inspired by all of the good volleyball I've seen so far during these Olympics that myself and my teammates went out last night, played really well and kick some serious butt. Question is, can I repeat it again tonight when I play for my other less established team. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

My motorcycle has been garaged for the last 4 years and ironically I just got it road worthy the other day (in anticipation of selling it). But dang dude ... I think you've just convinced me to ride it to work today. Because I do have fond memories of 'loving' it when I did ride it regularily and I enjoyed riding it the other day when I brought it back from the shop. I just woke up. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

IMHO this is the wrong question to ask on DZ.COM because we don't know you, we've likely never seen you fly your canopy and don't know what you can and can't do. Talk to the people at your DZ and better yet, seek some canopy control coaching from a reputable coach. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
