  2. The difference is, is that I'm not the one who in this thread time and time again posting about quotes in the bible telling people that they need to do this and that. Yes people are free to worship their religion, but to tell people that they need to do this or that because it in the bible is not worshipping. It is preaching. And contrary to what some people think. Millions and millions of people in the USA are NOT Christians and do not believe in the Christian bible. By the way, do not confuse me with an athiest. I am agnostic. The whole universe is beyond my comprehension and I'm not about to let a book written and translated by humans many many years ago change that. 3. Why must you insist on pushing your religion on people? Not all of us buy into your morals, your beliefs and certainly not the bible. Personally I think suicide/euthanasia should be considered as a last resort. But if someone wants to snuff themselves out because life as they know it is has become too painful to endure, let them do it. It's their life, not yours or your God's. 4. I believe the Wildwood PST competition was waivered to only land in one direction (from north to south) and for most of the weekend, that direction favored downwind. In fact the competition was cancelled one day due to fairly high winds favoring of course a downwind landing. The rest of us fun jumpers at the beach boogie were able to jump most of the weekend, but we were able to land into the wind in the fun jumper landing area. 5. Read what Lizzieb wrote above. I support her with her view that it's easy for a man to automatically dismiss what's going on with the woman's life and her body. You obviously think otherwise and I'd be willing to bet that you and I differ greatly in our religious (or lack thereof in my case) views. Start debating abortion if you want. That wasn't the motivation for me starting this thread. This thread was started to see what sort of percentage of the people want to see ROE versus WADE changed and who they voted for. Okay? 6. Absolutely!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. Fair enough. It sounds like Sabre is also making assumptions. Just so that you know, Canada is a big country with many different ethnic and cultural regions. Many of these regions have suffered economically and sometimes their choice in local government can be blamed and in some cases, it's just a case of adapting to an ever changing world. But Alberta with it's Oil Patch is a very prosperous region of the country. In '93 I purchased a modest 4 bedroom house in a nice suburban Calgary neighborhood for $145000 CDN. And today my house (which I still own but don't live in) is likely worth somewhere around $275000-$300000 CDN. The Calgary economy has been booming for years thanks to the costs of Oil & Gas and GWB's war. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. You're entitled to your opinion of wanting to stay in Joisey or New York. But once again you are showing ignorance towards what's going on in the province of Alberta (the richest province in Canada with a very right wing oriented provincial government). Instead of assuming this or that, why don't you educate yourself as to what's really going on before you make a fool of yourself here on DZ.COM. Note: If this post is deemed as a PA, so be it. Storm1977 obviously doesn't know what he is talking about concerning what's happening north of the border. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. Forget the war in Iraq. Soon GWB is going to be appointed some more of his buddies to the Supreme Court and one wonders if/when the moral Christian right wing forces will force GWB to attempt to over turn Roe versus Wade. Will it happened and do you want to see it happen? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. Hmmm ... sounds like I need to visit SabreDave during the Spring/Summer months of 2005 so he can show me some of his big wall exit points. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. You are correct in saying that the Health Care system up north is NOT free. Taxation in Canada is pretty high. But it also depends on what province you reside in. Places like Newfoundland and Quebec are extremely high and places like Alberta are much more tolerable. The Canadian Health care system is great for handling non life threatening things such as broken bones. It's when the patient requires some sort of operation that the system breaks down because often people are put on waiting lists. It is safe to say the system IS NOT perfect. But it's not perfect here as well. Several years ago I had to wait several hours in a Colorado Springs emergency room (a non life threatening injury) before I was treated. And then I had to pay a huge deductable for my care. Unsubstantiated blanket statements. Might I suggest you educate yourself a little about Canada and it's economy before you start making accusations such as these. The cost of goods in Canada vary depending on the stength and/or weakness of the Canadian dollar compared to the American dollar. Currently the Canadian dollar is the strongest it's been in 20-30 years (thanks to GWB's record deficits) and the costs of many goods are in line with the cost of goods in the USA. In fact some products are cheaper north of the border. It all depends on the strength and/or weakness of the respective currencies. My biggest beef with my own country is the fact that Ontario and Quebec control the election process. For years people in the west have wanted a new conservative federal government, but it just doesn't matter because all of the politcal power exists in Ontario and Quebec. By the way there are only two have provinces. Ontario and Alberta (provinces that put more into the system than they take out) and the rest are have-nots (provinces that take from the federation). Things in Canada are far from perfect. But for the ignorant uneducated, it's still a pretty damn good country with lots of positives on it's side. But the weather and jumping is better south of the border. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. Freedom of the Hills is considered the bible to many climbers. It's a mountaineering book, but also covers rock climbing. It's got everything you need to know about climbing. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. My first elliptical canopy at 400 jumps was a Crossfire2 loaded at about 1.5:1 and I started doing 270s on it after about 75 or so jumps. I managed not to kill myself (225 jumps on it) before downsizing to another Crossfire2 (my current canopy). But about 6 weeks ago I got some high performance canopy coaching from Jim Slaton and he totally opened up my eyes as to what I should be doing with my swoops. I have always been serious about my canopy control, but it would have been awesome had I had the coaching from Jim (or someone like him) hundreds and hundreds of jumps ago. 16. Aghh the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Now that is a cult classic if there ever has been one. I'm just a tad dissappointed that I've never seen the movie in a theater with the audience all dressed up. By the way, are you still reproducing yourself? I remember a while back you showed us this thread where clones of you could be seen all over you lawn in some pictures. I thought it was cute. 17. Once again Sarah, you are entitled to this opinion (and you won't be alone as many people in society are turned off by it as well). It's just that you made certain comments about cross-dressers, homosexuals and the transgendered which were wrong and some of us wanted to educate you a little as to really what is what. I can relate. I grew up with a step-father who grew up on the other side of WWII (the dude was a Hitler youth in Nazi German during the war and his slightly older brother was lucky to be injured on the Russian front while the rest of his unit was wiped out). So the step-monster tried to raise me as a good Nazi German boy (despite the fact that I'm NOT German) and he too believed in the "The husband is the master of the house and the wife is his servant" mindset and yes my sister in those early years was told to wear dresses and be all girly-girl like (until she rebelled and left home at an early age as did I and my brother as well). 18. Assuming I don't mess myself up the week before at the 4 day ground launching camp in Bakersfield, yes I will be there. Also, I believe the 30 jumps is a guideline not a hard rule. I'm sure Jimmy and Marta would let you attend the Turkey boogie with 27 jumps. In fact, you don't even need to be an official part of the boogie if you really want to jump. ######## is likely well within your skill and experience level right now. And it's not like we're talking about jumping at a DZ. If you want to jump, jump. The real benefit of the Turkey boogie is that Jimmy and Marta (and friends) will be showing us new exit points and we (those who attend the event) will get to meet more of each other (those of us in the fixed object jumping community). 19. Yeah. *sigh* I'm obsessed with it. I'm going to buy it and have it moved to California. What about Moab? The Perrine is pretty cool, but Moab is better (yet more dangerous). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. Ever see that Sienfield episode where George goes for the job interview with his suit which "Swishes"? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. Wow Sarah ... time for a little education. 1) The vast majority of cross-dressers are hetrosexual. 2) While some homosexuals are effeminate, very few cross-dress. 3) Transgendered people are the ones who identify themselves as people trapped in the body of the wrong sex and these are the people who seek reassignment surgery. And in many cases, the post-op MTF transgendered people don't run off to have sex with a man. Many are still interested in women and are classified now as lesbians (I think). Also, they are much harder to identify, but there are just as many FTM transgendered people as there as MTF. Why would a hetrosexual person be interested in a homosexual relationship? What are you talking about? This happens all the time. Look around you. I see plenty of females dressed in a similar manner that men dress as. You are entitled to feel turned off. It's natural. Most people feel the same way you do. But according to the so called experts, cross-dressing, homosexuality and transgendered traits are not a thing which people one day just develop (contrary to what the religious nut cases say). The experts say that these people are born this way and can not change. These people will take these traits to the grave with them. So instead of judging these people, count yourself lucky to be "what society deems as" normal. Then again are you really normal? What's normal? 23. First off, I'm glad you didn't crater. To my knowledge we've yet to physically meet each other and I hope this changes in the future as I would like to meet and party with the infamous "I like sheep" Clay Fowler. But now to the harder part of this post ... With all due respect it sure sounds like you have NOT spent the required time at altitude learning the performance envelop of your canopy. So you should NOT be doing 270s on this Vengence canopy until you've spent the required time at altitude learning what it will do. Remember all of us need to start over from scratch once we've switched to a new canopy. Now back to your regular scheduled programming ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. I did a night time wingsuit jump earlier this summer at it was totally cool. However, much to the load's surprise the winds above 1k were very very strong (we shouldn't have jumped) and in retrospective I spent much too much time unzipping everything and not enough time flying my canopy into the wind. But if you can believe it, I was the only person on the load to make it back due to the winds. Everyone else landed off. Still it was awesome to check out the lights of Denver at night time under my windsuit and I look forward to my next night time wingsuit jump.
