How do you tell the difference between a Cameye 1 and 2?
CanuckInUSA replied to WrongWay's topic in Photography and Video
Well sometime between 6-19-01 and November of 2003, they decided to the change the CameEye II to use the red/green (much to the dissappointment of color blind people like me). Well at least they stopped that stupid practice of using red/green. Is the swoop pond ready yet? Cause if it is, I don't care if my CamEye II used pink. I've been told by the manufacturer of the CamEye II that now the CamEye II uses blue/red. But they used to use red/green up until Nov of 2003. And well this doesn't help me at all with my Red/Green color blindness. I watch for the colors to change and this is the only way I know if my camera is on or off. Other than that, the CamEye II is pretty useless for me. Of course I don't think I'll be doing too many camera jumps this summer, as the pond (assuming they actually build it) is calling me. I'm not going to debate the Iraq war. My point was that a certain poster was slamming another poster saying that they didn't know why the Iraq war started. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Try what again? How about the reason the USA invaded Iraq (at least the public was told this) was to rid Iraq of it's weapons of mass distruction. But they never found any weapons of mass distruction. Oh yes I forget, George Bush will save the entire world from itself starting with Iraq and ensure that everyone follows American culture, ideals and the good ole' right wing Christian morals. But what's GWB going to do if a religious Islamic fundamentalist government gets democratically elected in Iraq? In case you haven't noticed, there are millions and millions of people who think GWB is an idiot. But he was democratically elected (yes elected fair and square), so the world is stuck with this clown as leader of the free world for another four years of ... well we shall see what happens. Not mine!!! Are you sure that it is a CamEyeII? My CamEye II is pretty much useless to me and any efforts to fix my problem by the manufacturer has gone on deaf ears. Don't buy the CamEye II if you're color blind as you're just wasting your money. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Wasn't it started because of weapons of mass distruction? Oh I'm sorry, the war was started to bring demoncracy to Iraq. That's right. The only thing that matters is for the Bush supporters to constantly change their agenda so as to make themselves look better. Who gives a shit about the thousands of innocent people who died in this war. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

How do you tell the difference between a Cameye 1 and 2?
CanuckInUSA replied to WrongWay's topic in Photography and Video
The obvious way to tell the difference between the original Cameye and the Cameye II is that on the original Cameye they used (what was it?) blue and green on their lights to indicate when the camera is on and/or off. But the brainiacs who decided to design the Cameye II decided that it was better to use Red and Green instead. Of course these idiots never realized that there are red-green color blind people out there (what is it 10% of the male population is color blind, like yours truly). Anyway, it is almost impossible to tell the difference between the two colors on the Cameye II. Give me five minutes alone in the room with one of these idiot designers and believe me they would never make that mistake again. But I guess they don't give a shit about a certain segment of the market. Of course these idiots have also decided to discontinue production of the Cameye, so guys like me are just plain fucked up the ass. Thanks for nothing you bunch of morons (can you tell that I firmly believe I wasted money on my Cameye II as it is pretty much a useless product for people like me who are color blind. Have you ever seen the movie "To Live and Die in LA"? It's an early 80s flic and at the beginning of the movie the main character can be seen doing a fixed line rope jump off of a span. But in the movie he refers to this as a BASE jump. I just cringe at this remark everytime I watch the movie (which is pretty good by the way), because he wasn't BASE jumping. Even though I haven't added anything into since November, I started a Ground Launching log book. I mean Ground Launching is Ground Launching. It's not a BASE jump, nor is it a skydive. Oh and I totally agree with you that my log books are for my reference, not for anyone else. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

At the Wildwood PST Beech Boogie last July 4th, I dragged my toes in the sand on two separate jumps. On the first jump, everything went as planned and I left a nice mark close to 200' long in the sand. On the subsequent jump, I proceeded to do the same thing (drag my right toe), but this time I hit some sort of rock which needless to say hurt like heck. So watch out for the sand crabs (or rocks in my case). They're just dying to hurt you. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Local Colorado Front Range Ground Launching Sites
CanuckInUSA replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
There is a parcel of land out where you speak of (visible from C-470 and I-70) which I think is ideal for a decent training site. But I haven't bothered to figure out who's land it is either. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Local Colorado Front Range Ground Launching Sites
CanuckInUSA replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Yes I knew Keith was talking about Berthoud Pass. And I wouldn't say that it is TOO high. But many of these sort of places here in CO are for more advanced Ground Launching pilots (likely only a handful of people in the world currently hold the skills and experience). I would like to find some good training places to build the skill and experience before I commit myself to an advanced launch. This is some serious shit (Ground Launching) and while launching at the GLC is not a safe activity. I'm beginning to think that Ground Launching here in CO is just down right dangerous. But I still want to do it and find some good sites for myself and others to train on. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

Single Male Problem #1 With only about 5-10% of the sports participants being female, my chances of meeting a girlfriend in this sport don't seem very good. I'm still open for surprises though. Problem #2 Whuffo women aren't interested in people who risk their lives like we jumpers seem to do. Yet the three things I enjoy most (Swooping, BASE jumping and Ground Launching) aren't exactly what you could call safe activities. I have opportunities with whuffo women through the co-ed volleyball league I play in. But you should see their reactions when I tell them what I do, or better yet show them video of myself and my friends jumping in Moab. Disclaimer: I am reasonably happy with who I am and where I am in my life. Having a partner would be a bonus, but it is in no way a requirement for me. Local Colorado Front Range Ground Launching Sites
CanuckInUSA replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Yah Colin I know where you are coming from with these other sites in Boulder. Dang ... I just can't seem to find anything that comes remotely close to what exists in the Sequoia (sp?) National Forrest out in CA. For the time being, I think I am going to have to suit up (body armour) and take my chances at the existing paraglider site. I may need to do that if I can't find a suitable site to train on to get ready for the blade running event at the US Canopy Piloting Grand Prix in April (I have qualified for the blade running event, but obviously not the swooping events which are open to only PST qualified people). Think the 10 year-olds will share their hill with me. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
