  1. I'll be skydiving in the United States (Colorado) while I think about my future. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. Even though I'm sure he could/would kick my ass, I would love to tell Philadelphia Flyers Jeremy Roenick what an asshole he is for publicly stating that hockey fans upset at the NHL players for the lost NHL season should stay away from the game if/when the NHL does start up again based on his comments found here the other day. What a jerk. What you have is millionaires arguing with billionaires and we the fans who are upset are now being told to stay away. Okay Mr. Roenick I'll tell you what. I used to be a season ticket holder of the Colorado Avalanche (costing me more than 11k/year not counting playoffs). Since you don't want me to go to the NHL games anymore, I won't. I will take my money and use it to skydive instead. What a jerk. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. It's called BASE ethics. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. I agree that the case is better. It allows more people to partake in the milestone moment. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. Yes don't get too hung up on your beer debts. I owe way more than I've paid (shit now I know someone is going to see this). I'm a little surprised that nobody brings cases of beer to your DZ, but I guess all DZs are different. If you guys don't bring beer into the hanger, go to the bar with the most influential people who were involved with your "First ..." jump and just buy them a beer. You don't owe everyone on the DZ beer. Just the people who were there to help you with your Milestone moment. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. Glad you're okay Remi. A couple of years ago I came close to dropping a toggle after doing a 90 degree front riser dive in the winter while wearing warm but somewhat slippery fleece gloves. I'll never jump with those gloves again. The entire toggle goes through my hand, I pull down on my risers with three fingers and wrap my pinkie fingers around the toggles when I swoop which lately is virtually every jump (unless I'm jumping off of fixed objects). Once again, I'm glad you had the experience to go to your rears. Today I can easily land with my rears as virtually every jump I make I'm on them when I swoop, but I wonder if I would have gone to them a couple of years ago when I came close to dropping my toggle. 7. I wouldn't even be able to count all the fingers on one hand the number of professional skydivers that work at the DZ where I do most of my jumps that can be seen doing anything other than paid jumps. Far too many of these people only jump when it is a paid jump. Oh and once the tandem and AFF traffic has gone home, these professional skydivers can also be seen going home as well leaving only the diehards left to try and fill loads. Whatever happened to the notion that experienced skydivers should jump with the inexperienced. Too often the only time I see them jump is when the inexperienced person is paying the experienced person's way. Is this something to look forward too? Shoulds like a shitty deal to me. So I guess you're right, those of us who aren't privelaged enough (or liked enough) to get paid to skydive think this sucks. I hope I never turn into one of those people who only jump when they get paid to jump. PS: I'm not counting packers in this group of people who only jump when they get paid. I'm only referring to the TMs, AFFIs and video people. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. Well Duece you bring up a good point that I'm concerned about. I have the time and money to pursue these TM and Instructional ratings this summer, but I'm about 99% certain that the DZ I do most of my jumping at would not let me use them at their DZ. So that pretty much puts me between a rock and a hard place (or however that saying goes). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. He ... he ... he ... And Kelel01 can be seen celebrating in the corner after taking round one of this heavy weight battle of the "Speakers Corner Posts". Well said. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. This issue is simple. The female life is more valuable because of their boobies. Without boobies what would we guys have to play with (besides killing kittens). Save the boobies I say!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. This thread is wrong. I may not always agree with you, but I will always know where you stand when it comes to your love and dedication to your country. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. Happy [belated] Birthday Brittany!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. Happy Birthday ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Congrats on your first solo!!! Mine back in 2001 was cool, but you know what will even be more rewarding? (at least it was for me) Your first solo cross-country. Good Luck with your flying. I got the ground portion of my Bi-annual Flight Reveiw signed off on Thursday, but I have to wait another week for the flight portion of the BFR. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. Hope she has a little Chaos to go along with her Kitty Birthday!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. :3:0 I didn't do very many jumps this weekend. On Saturday I helped teach an AFF class towards obtaining my own coach rating and then once the course was over I did a fun three way freefly, opened into a nasty diving line twisting mal and chopped my velo and popped my reserve. Then I made two fun jumps today (on borrowed gear) with "Buried" here on DZ.COM who was in town visiting his cousin. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. Absolute nonsense. I swooped a 190 today (borrowed gear) loaded at about 1.0 and while I didn't go all that far, I did swoop it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. Congrats Katie!!! Thanks to a certain B Team member that you guys obviously know, I qualified for my BASE # a couple of weeks ago as well (I better send my application in ASAP huh?). Oh and I was scared as shit hucking myself off of that B. But it was fun!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. Sams are good. Have you ever tried a Crossfire2? Hey I've got a Velocity 111 for sale on the used market. I wonder if our 25 jump wonder would be interested in it? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. 12.5 is the best that we can do. Any higher and we're in Class A airspace (only IFR traffic is allowed into Class Alpha airspace) due to our base altitude of 5000' MSL. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. Whatever problems you currently have won't be there 10,000 jumps from now. Patience grasshopper patience. Falling through the sky is easy. Falling through the sky with style is NOT easy. Unless you're a natural (and there are very few of those) you, like me, like everyone else, struggled when they first tried to freefly. Never said this shit was easy to do. But it sure can be fun. PS: What am I doing in the FF forum? I haven't been in here for months. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. Clicky Oh I've got no comment concerning this story other than to say that I'm not surprised. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. There's all different types of people in this sport. Without a doubt people with good incomes can jump more. But as FallingWoman pointed out, it's all about what you're willing to sacrifice in order to jump. If you want to jump full time, you better have money or work in the industry (in which case prepare to go through life without a lot of money). But if you're good for doing enough jumps to keep your personal currency levels at a comfort level you good with (please don't jump high performance canopies unless you're ultra current and knowledgable in canopy control), then you can find things to cutaway to create more jumping resources. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. Sometimes you girls have it easy (sometimes being the key word here). A guy would never get away with that sort of job. But a cute girl will always work it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. Unless this kid is an experienced pilot used to the ground rush of landing an ultra high performance airplane, I would put him on the bounce list right fucking now. He's going to mess himself up one day soon trying to look cool for the girls (what girls ... there's one girl for every ten guys at the DZ). Swooping and flying high performance canopies while super fun requires hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of jumps starting on larger canopies and working your way down. Some people are better canopy pilots than others, but there are no short cuts to swooping. If I see someone with 25 jumps here in Colorado jumping a 135 loaded at 1.4 I'd talk to him and I'd talk to the DZO. Fortunately I don't see that here, yet. A newbie asked me some swooping questions today and I was happy to answer them just as long as he promised to practice what I was about to tell him up high and dedicated jumps towards canopy control before he brought it low to the ground. Knowledge is power. Knowledge is the key to survival in this game. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
