  1. I'm not entirely sure whether this is a non-stupid question or not, so if you read on you're at risk of: a) being irritated. (This irritation might or might not be accompanied by a facepalm.) b) being overwhelmed by my noobish cuteness (possibly with a strong desire to adopt me and feed me cookies.) So consider yourself warned; Here it comes: Is there anything akin to traffic rules in the sport of skydiving/parachuting, and if so, what are those rules? It's just something I'm curious about, I assume there are rules, btw, but Google doesn't provide answers, so I'm asking it here.
  2. + Of course one wouldn't start such a discussion to get anywhere, one would starts such a discussion for he ensuing shit storm.
  3. And after all: The Jews killed Jesus didn't they?
  4. This should be a nice starting point for a discussion about real Football vs. American Football.....
  5. Marriage is nothing but a human construct, based on natural human drives. It's not that people stay together because they marry, people marry because they stay together. While H. Sapiens isn't truly monogamous, we're at least serial monogamous
  6. So it's WW II, you're living in occupied Amsterdam, and you've got a Jewish girl called Anne hiding in your annex. A nazi asks "Are you hiding Jews?" you lie. How on earth is that unethical? tens of thousands probably, however, I usually try to prevent harm. Most of my lies are harmless. Don't pull that ray comfort crap on me. If you lied to me, you would be a human that lied to me. Why should I label you a "liar" on one action? One action that might not even have consequences for me? If I ask you "How's life?" and you said "good" while I knew you had problems, why the hell would I think of you as a liar?
  7. OK, that wasn't very clear. I meant that Paul didn't see lust inside the bounds of marriage as a good thing.
  8. I think PC is also an excellent way to cover up societal problems without solving them. PC has it's purpose, especially in politics I think, but when taken to far it's not a good thing.
  9. Depends on which text you cherry pick from the bible, Paul would disagree with you on this.
  10. I don't really appreciate it when people put words in my mouth, so cut that out, will you? As I clearly stated before, it depends on the situation whether a lie is unethical or not. And yes, it can be ethical to lie, if you can't think of situations were lying is better then telling the truth, you're not very bright. I would draw the line between ethical and unethical lying depending on the harm the lying causes/prevents.
  11. I think it should be two words. But that's more based on my non-native English gut-feeling, than on solid evidence. When in doubt, I always use separate words instead of compounds in the English language. Edit: then = than
  12. According to the Christian view of how the world should be, human nature is indeed flawed, but then again, Christianity views lust, which is in fact rather essential to the survival of the species, also largely as a flaw. Human?
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrpD-Aqd4W8 It's not precisely humour but I thought it was funny anyway. I want to make babies with that lady.
  14. There's nothing interesting about basic knowledge about human nature. Lying simply isn't bad or evil by definition. There's lots of situations I can think of where the truth would do more damage then a lie. I would rather trust someone who's able to make this basic observation then someone who doesn't seem able too...
  15. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2011/10/26/halloween-racist-costumes.html This is all those whiny b****es deserve: http://cdn-www.i-am-bored.com/media/PSA-Pedobear.png
  16. Unfortunately few things are as hard to translate as jokes, but this one might work: Bungee jumping is lot like having your *beep* *beeped* by your mother-in-law. It feels great and it's a lot less scary if you don't look down.
  17. Whether lying is good or bad entirely depends on the situation, but it doesn't take a whole lot to realize that lying is essential to human society. So yes, lying is natural for humans to the point we couldn't survive without it.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4yBvvGi_2A He's an idiot. And the metaphor is wrong to, you might be killed if you tried to bitch slap the president, but they won't torture you forever for it.
  19. These just aren't very big sins in a world were the Holocaust happened. But then again, your God doesn't have problems with the concept of genocide.
  20. And since you fail to provide arguments as to why those are misconceptions, I assume that's because you don't have any arguments.
  21. If that's the case, to an infinitely holy God, sending someone to a place of eternal torture, certainly should be punished with an eternity in hell. Actually sending people to hell would be about the only reason to be send to hell.
  22. + No, I never did something that was so evil that the world would be better off without me.
  23. That's at least biblical correct. Satan killed 10 people (the kids of Job during a bet with Jehova) and God/JAWEH killed millions alone in the great flood. According to your holy book that is. So from an average human POV, Satan is the good guy in that book. Or at least the least evil guy.
  24. If someone uses aggression against you, proportionate self-defence isn't unethical. According to Jesus, you should not defend yourself. I think while one should always remember that one's enemy is a human being too, and should treat them accordingly, but actually loving one's enemy is insane OR renders the word "love" totally meaningless. Oh, come on, we started of the wrong way, and later we mutually found that normal and even friendly interaction was possible. that's hardly a miracle of neighbourly love, me thinks, and it certainly has little to do with the extreme pacifism Jesus preached....
  25. Yes, that seems like an unbiased source If most scientists would think the bible was reliable, most scientists would be Christians, but as we all know, the majority of *REAL* scientists is irreligious, or at least not a cover2cover Christian.
