Beer doesn't yell at me, or judge me or call me names.

This may shock you, but scientists actually researched different drugs, and the results are there for everyone to look at. And the results have little to do with the fear-mongering nonsense that often passes in your country for information about drugs. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39938704/ns/health-addictions/t/alcohol-more-dangerous-heroin-cocaine-study-finds/#.UEzcsI3N8mE And if you're suggesting I'm a druggie myself, apart from caffeine the only mind-altering substance I use is alcohol. I F-ing love alcohol, but I'm aware of what it is.

But.... but... he used the word we do not say.

I can't believe that despite all the manly boasting about boobs going on here, I've to be the one to point out where the mother lode is. Enjoy! http://www.boobpedia.com/boobs/Main_Page

Actually, alcohol is on the bad side of the spectrum. Magic mushrooms, ecstasy, weed... those are all a better idea than alcohol.
-
Recreational use doesn't automatically end with addiction. Else a large majority of the world population would be chain-smoking alcohol addicts, I've no idea, but since this is anecdotal, it can be ignored. One of the goals of legalization is that other drugs are controlled too. And indeed with alcohol you know what you get. A drug that's relatively addictive, that's very harmful to your health and has been known as a leading cause for traffic accidents, violence and obnoxious behaviour.

Legalizing drug and using the sin taxes to combat drug-related problems is full of win. It's not that I necessarily like drugs, but I'm a pragmatic young man. A recreational user is like a social drinker, an in fact the majority of people who do any drug are recreational users, why?
-
I bet you would mind it even less when addiction treatment was paid for by addict themselves by means of sin taxes.

That's so wrong!

That's true, but to make sure the AIDS-protection systems work, it's advised to not just take it like a man, but to jump a little on insertion. Squealing like a pig is not really necessary, though.

It's only aggressive homosexual gang rape if you really don't want it and/or aren't wearing hot pants. It's a bit like legitimate rape, only instead of preventing pregnancy, aggressive homosexual gang rape protects against AIDS.

Opium has been legal for most of the history of China, it never stopped China from becoming one of the greatest and long-lived civilizations of the world. And the topic on hand is not the dangerous drug opium, it's cannabis. I live in a society where cannabis is (still) de facto legal, and we're doing fine the last time I checked. What people don't realize is that criminalizing drugs is a policy that's only gained popularity during the last couple of centuries or so. An AFAICS criminalizing drugs won't affect actual drug use. In case of Cannabis the joke is on you guys btw. Over all Americans are much more likely to use Cannabis than Dutchies, despite the draconian punishments which are used to enforce the ban on Cannabis

Yeah, Right.

This article is more or less accurate. http://www.iamexpat.nl/read-and-discuss/expat-page/articles/dazed-and-confused-the-growing-pains-of-the-netherlands-new-wietpas-policy It's not to restrict sale to the Dutch only, because identifying yourself with a passport or driver's licence to confirm your nationality would be sufficient to reach that goal. It's a badly disguised attempt to snuff out the coffee shops without a explicitly banning them. I don't use weed myself, but if I were using it, like most people who use it, I wouldn't want to be a registered user. The effects of this BS are predictable. In the southern provinces of NL, where these rules are already in effect, coffee shops go bankrupt, street dealer take over 95% of the trade and crime is on the rise. Btw. I don't see what the nonsensical drug policies of the Netherlands have to do with my personal opinion about legalization.

It might be true Belgians came up with fries, but chocolate and beer certainly aren't Belgian inventions....
-
That would be interesting if it were true. But the rumour you heard had a semblance of truth in it, yes.
-
But wouldn't you be like "hey there's a tree in my lane"? Other than that, standing in the middle of the highway is almost always the idiot thing to do.

I'm sorry, I'm not convinced by your answer. Besides you ignored two points, one being that Assange is prepared to be heard about the allegations of rape. AFAICS there's no reason he can't be heard on the grounds of the embassy, and I doubt if Ecuador would grand asylum to a rapist if that's what came out of the hearings.
-
We know you read news sources that provide incorrect information. But if you looked into it, the news sources around Assange are very varied. The whole spectrum from Assange is a child-molesting terrorist, till Assange is the the information age Messiah is covered.
-
A 50 man strong police operation, costing 80.000/Day surrounding the embassy for someone who isn't even accused of a crime. The fact that Sweden nor the UK don't give any guarantees to Assange about extradition to the US. The refusal of Sweden to hear Assange about the rape-allegations in the embassy. To name a few things.
-
They will not extradite Assange to the US if he faces the death penalty. Sweden does have an extradition treaty with the US, so there won't be much of a problem to extradite him as long as he isn't going to be executed.
-
Of course, if the allegations of rape are partly there because of some smear campaign, it would be to depolarize public opinion, to a situation where almost anyone hates JA. Btw, I'm not insisting that Assange is innocent and victim of some dirty politic game, It's just that some things don't add up. The alu hat wearing crowd, as you call us, isn't only remarkably large, but also features a lot of reasonable people that have reasonable doubts.
-
Of course it might be wise to wait till after the allegations are made if you want to catch someone who's a hero to many. Not my, hero, btw, I pretty much agree with your assessment of his character. Agreed, but of course that doesn't mean they don't want him
-
You really think the Americans don't want Julian Assange to let him face American vengeance justice?
