  1. While everyone has been increasing jump prices this year, Skydive Houston in Waller, TX has lowered theirs to $15. Yep $15 for Otter jumps everyday.
  2. My friends and I were really disappointed with vibe at Elsinore. I think the girl working manifest when we were there was probably the rudest I have ever seen. Great scenery otherwise. Perris rocked great FF load orginizing. I will go straight to Perris next time.
  3. Close, but actually it's for Skywest.
  4. If you got a job where you could be based in any of the following places where would you go? I haven't spent much time out west, so any comments on the locations or their dropzones is appreciated. Salt Lake City, Utah Denver, Colorado Portland, Oregon Houston, Texas Fresno, California Palm Springs, California San Diego, California Monterey, California San Luis Obispo, California Sacramento, California Santa Barbara , California
  5. QuoteThe stuff was meant to be leftover from the Iran-Iraq war. Not so much of the "he continues to produce WMD and is building up his arsenal" that we were all told about. I really hope you are not an American, you sound like you would be a good spokes person for Sadam.
  6. I strongly recommend the freestyle handle. I think wings has the best one on the market.
  7. I was actually referring to courses to swoop through, made out of noodles, windblades, etc.
  8. Curious how many dz's out there have swoop courses
  9. I don't understand why you feel its necessary to post something like this. If that is how you feel fine, but why are you even posting much less moderating a skydiving forum if that is how you feel? I have over 2000 hours of dual given but I wouldn't even think about telling an enthusiastic flight student that flying isn't as much fun as it used to be(it's still fun!
  10. I agree. However in the lower levels of the atmosphere you can figure pressure decreases roughly one inch per thousand feet. The original post ask what range of air pressure would be experienced during a normal skydive. Would you disagree that the pressure would drop lightly less than 10 inches during a skydive from 10,000 ft.?
  11. No its not an oversimplification, it's the standard pressure lapse rate. Changes of that magnitude are rare. Even in that storm I'm sure the pressure didn't drop 1.64 inches below the standard station pressure it probably was the total change between the high and the low. Pressures changes larger than one inch from the standard pressure for a given station are not very common, and usually involve very significant weather such as hurricanes.
  12. Standard air pressure is 29.92 inches HG at sea level. The pressure decreases as you increase altitude at rate of 1 inch per thousand feet. Weather systems rarely change the air pressure more than one inch.
  13. I like mine on my leg strap, good for sit fly, HD, back tracking and under canopy. Probably not as good for belly flying.
  14. Had a very rare form of it when I was 19. Radiation, Surgery, and Chemo, none of them were as bad as you would imagine them to be. Its been 4 years so far so good. Enjoy the day and don't worry about things in the future you can't control. "Tomorrow is promised to no one." This quote from the bible really helped me learn to enjoy life and not get down about what could happen in the future. Good luck, stay positive.
  15. ***On my 401st jump, I started flying my Crossfire2 139 loaded a tad less than 1.6:1........strive to make baby steps with my swooping progression as opposed to looking to join the Pro Swoop Tour next mont Just curious, do you really think doing 270's with only 50 jumps on a new canopy classifies as baby steps.
  16. 1st pond swoop, so excited I couldn't sleep for a few days.

    Prank calls

check out www.ebaumsworld.com, its got some really funny prank calls and celebrity sound boards.
  18. I saw a few crew dogs down in dallas a few weeks ago doing very impressive landings with lightnings. They would do front riser turns together into sycronized swoops. It was very impressive.
  19. I swear by my pillow. I saw a video of my self where my buddy actually had all of his fingers wrapped around my D ring on my old rig. I feel way safer with two pillows. If you can pull one pillow you should be able to pull two.
  20. I too highly recommend Scott Millers course. I took it in Iowa a few weeks ago, very educational.
  21. Try psycho packing, I used to pack a airlocked 150 into my W-10-1. It got a little easier as the container got more broken in.
  22. Anyone spend time in the tunnel freeflying? How long, and how much did it help your flying?
  23. Can't thing of anything I would change on my Wings. It's perfect!
