Does anyone know of a DZ in Bermuda? I'm taking a last minute trip and would love to jump! Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about.

Best POV Action Camera Shootout: 6 Challengers Reviewed
cbuffalino commented on admin's article in Gear
Nice read, had me really pumped up to by the AS15. Until I saw this on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_wXh3EDHWs The commentator basically reveals some of the impracticality of the camera while maintaining that it is technically superior... Also he mentioned there is no audio when recording at 120fps in 720p mode. -

It's as international as it gets for me... I don't get to leave NY very often so I'm treating it as that kind of trip. Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. -
First International Boogie Help

So I am planning on attending the Puerto Rico Freefall Festival in February and this will be the first time I am traveling out of the country to attend a skydiving event (I'm from NY btw). I was wondering if anyone had tips or things to keep in mind when traveling. Some things I'm curious about include but are not limited to: How to best transport my rig Economical ways to travel/plan this trip Where should I stay? How much money should I bring? Anything else you could offer would definitely help! Thanks in advance! Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. -
Skydiving clubs in New York
cbuffalino replied to cbuffalino's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I was wondering if there were any skydiving clubs in New York, and what a club offers. Is it just a group of people who jump together often? Is it a team, like an RW team? Is there somewhere to find one to be a part of? Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. -

As a newly licensed jumper with only about 60 jumps I can tell you that if my DZs here at home offered a $300/month package for jumping I would certainly take part- at least for the bulk of the season. I'm easily spending more than that as it is. Especially after shelling out all the money on training and gear it would be another breath of fresh air to have your jumps go down so significantly in price. For a jumper who doesn't get to jump as frequently as he would like my average day out at the DZ will cost 100-150 in jumps alone and I average 2-3 trips a month depending. Easily worth it. Just my 2 cents Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. -
This article was in Parachutist this past March. I have read it a few times just to keep this very question in my mind. Like some of the other jumpers said in their responses, different RSL configurations will work in different ways, but the principle is the same. If you own your own rig have a rigger explain to you how everything is routed and what potential hazards exist in various situations. Light weight jumper needs to fall FASTER!
cbuffalino replied to cbuffalino's topic in Safety and Training
So I went out this weekend and obviously didn't have a jumpsuit to use but I was able to get down to the formation on a couple jumps when I was second out chasing the base on speedstar attempts. I overshot a couple times actually, but had a little more success than previously. I id'd a couple things I'm doing that are wasting time and increasing separation so working on those problems should help as my skill improves. I had the most success when I was the base and people flew to my relative position because it decreased the amount of work I had to do to get to another jumper and I linked up twice. It's really discouraging not to be able to get to the group which happened on a few jumps and I guess it's just something I'll have to learn with time. Improving my body position helped and once I can get into a good jumpsuit I'm sure my range will improve a bit. I'm going to be doing some coaching soon to get some usable feedback. Most of the guys I jump with are more paying attention to getting in rather than what each individual is doing right or wrong. I got some video that I'll be going over soon so that's a good tool to have. Thanks everyone for all the help and advice! Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. -
My first jump this season I Dumped while in a track because I was anxious about pulling at the right altitude (pre A license). This error of judgement resulted in me being pulled extremely quickly in the opposite direction and my leg becoming tangled in my risers. Thankfully my shoe came off and I returned to a normal position. A friend told me to make sure I slowed down to a safe speed and to take the extra seconds to breathe and stableize before pulling. Being pulled in the opposite direction would have moved you legs and feet away from the opening canopy. It sounds like you were in a head down position rather then a track. Sparky Well I've never experimented with head down, however I was definitely cruising! It was a very very steep track by my best estimation. But if I achieved a head down, maybe it wasn't such a bad event.. jk Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about.

Light weight jumper needs to fall FASTER!
cbuffalino replied to cbuffalino's topic in Safety and Training
Thanks for all the great insight guys. I'll give all of this a try and let you know how my next couple outings go. It will probably be a while before I can get a jumpsuit, but I'm sure I can find a decent one around the DZ to at least give me a consistent rate of fall. Any suggestions on jumpsuit brands at a decent price? Is there anything out there with removable booties? Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. -

Well the tracking suit is a little while away for me, but something I'm working towards. More important to work on basic skills first. Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. -

I'm jumping my own gear that fits well (just had the harness completely redone), but yes clothing is a bit in consistent. I guess I'll be saving up for a good jumpsuit instead of having my eye on a tracking suit. Hehehe Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. -

Thanks. I'll have to focus on my arch then. Any tips on developing a solid arch? Any excersized or stretches that can help drive my hips down farther? Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. -

Haha thanks. Right now I like jumping in my jeans and tshirt or shorts. Still looking Into a jumpsuit. I'll definitely take this further with coaches or when I'm jumping with more experienced people like you suggested. Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. -

Light weight jumper needs to fall FASTER!
cbuffalino replied to cbuffalino's topic in Safety and Training
So I'm about fifty jumps in and my flying skills are improving with every jump. However I am missing out on a lot of the action because I spend most of my jumps trying to catch up to the formations of bigger heavier jumpers. I see many of my friends of similar weight be able to get in the mix so I know my skills still need to improve but is there anything anyone can recommend so that I can improve quicker? I am constantly pushing myself to jump with people and groups and do things out of my comfort zone which has definitely helped. And I'm also practicing chasing my friends a lot instead of being base. Any advise would help. Thanks! Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. -
So I just got my first rig (BEER) and I've had to replace rubber bands on my D-Bag a few times already and was wondering: Why do we use rubber bands? It seems there are more durable materials such as elastic (think like a girl's hair tie) or bungee that could serve the same purpose and probably break less frequently. Has anyone every tried anything like this or can anybody provide any insight as to how this would work out? Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about.

Must send back to factory for RSL install?

I'm clearly not educated enough so I figured I'd ask. Definitely wouldn't question his choices just was wondering if that was normal or not being i'm not experienced in the area. Thank's again for your help. -Chris Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about. -

Must send back to factory for RSL install?
cbuffalino replied to cbuffalino's topic in Gear and Rigging
For what reason would a rigger opt to send back a container to the factory to install an RSL? Container is a Vector Micron v310. To my knowledge no RSL had been previously installed on the rig, but the Vector manual has rigging instructions for SkyHook and standard RSL assemblies so there's definitely something I don't understand.
