    Boredom

boredom \Bore"dom\, n. 1. The state of being bored, or pestered; a state of ennui. I am bored so bored is anyone else here bored or does anyone really give a damn? - GQ ... it was the love of the air and sky and flying, the lure of adventure, the appreciation of beauty ... -Charles Lindberg
  4. The very first taste I ever got with jumping or somewhat was when I was I think 14 15 16 somewhere in there at Flyaway in Pigeon Forge, Tenn and I was like over welmed even then at how much fun I had *Props to Gary* and then my father was the one that took me on my first jump tandem of course. I think with him being a S.E.A.L. at the time and a HALO jumper had a lot of influence on me...but when I took it up heavily was about the time I was wake boarding and wanted something a bit more with the edge and all I ever seemed to see was people skysurfing and I figured hmm Id like to try that little did I know that you had to have over 500 jumps and a whole lot of other things in order to do it but yep thats pretty much what got me into this. - GQ ... it was the love of the air and sky and flying, the lure of adventure, the appreciation of beauty ... -Charles Lindberg

  9. I can relate to this in a way. I have a friend of mine that is sorta close but not so much anymore now that I called him out but I was with him and his gf and we were just cruisin and at the time he didnt know I jumped and I asked like I tend to ask everyone I know if he had ever considered skydiving. He said he already had been 6 times before hand and I was like oh kickass. Well I started to ask what all he did and he stated that he did them all at SD ATL and I was like hey thats cool funny I never saw him there though and we kept talking and then he manages to say that hes done an O2 jump at SD ATL with only six jumps and I played dumb and said so which jump did you do the O2 jump and he was like 3 or 4 I think...well for me something like that I think Id remember I asked what alti he jumped from and he said 33K and I was like wow man thats totally kickass the entire time his gf was getting turned on by his bullsh!! being an adrenaline freak herself and then he was like oh yeah if you want to I can get you jumps really cheap and I was like really like how cheap and he was like I dunno maybe 100$ a jump and I was like wow thats really cheap man....he was sitting there lovin himself so I started asking a few questions starting small cause perhaps he had made maybe one tandem then started his own little fantasy in order to impress his gf and others he knew. So I asked him what a PLF was and he was like what do you mean...well right off I knew he was throwing me for a big one and had never even jumped period so I was like well Parachute Landing Fall and he was like oh yeah I know that and I was like oh well ok so demonstrate it for me and he was like oh I cant right now Im in my car so we pulled over and he jumped out and rolled on the ground leaving everything open to get broken and I was like ok...so when he dropped me off at my car he had his gf convinced that he was some skygod and I was like oh yeah hold on a sec so I went to my car pulled out my rig and walked over with my liscense and showed it to him and his girl and his girl was like wow you do it too and I said yeah I do but he doesnt and she was like huh? And I said yeah unfortunately ole colby over there has been throwing ya for a fast one for the last hour cause a PLF is one of the first things that your taught in skydiving and he even demonstrated it incorrectly...and he just sat there and then right before I was able to point everything else out that he lied about he told me to f off and drove off with a quickness. I have however called him a few times and asked if hed like to come out sometime and make a jump with me at SD atl and everytime I ask hes always doing something else....but hey just goes to show if your gonna lie about something at least have some knowledge about what your lieing about so you at least have a foot to stand on cause ya never know whos gonna be there to point you out. - GQ ... it was the love of the air and sky and flying, the lure of adventure, the appreciation of beauty ... -Charles Lindberg

  13. This year Nevada, will once again, gamble on marijuana. In 1998 and 2000, legalization proponents lobbied the state to legalize marijuana as medicine, resulting in the passage of Question 9. Question 9 also reduced penalties for possession of up to 1-ounce marijuana. This year, they want to go further still, effectively becoming the first state in the United State to legalize marijuana use. This new initiative, referred to as Ballot Question 9, would require the state to grow, tax, and distribute marijuana to retail stores for sale to the public. Under Ballot Question 9, anyone 21 years of age and older would be permitted to use or possess up to 3 ounces of marijuana without any legal or criminal ramifications. I could be wrong though http://www.lvrj.com/lvrj_home/2002/Sep-01-Sun-2002/news/19531816.html this is the results of the ballot for last year I believe so I was behind times I apologize. - GQ ... it was the love of the air and sky and flying, the lure of adventure, the appreciation of beauty ... -Charles Lindberg

  17. From what Ive heard and read Nevada is about to legalize marijuana theyve allready legalized gambling and prostitution and in order for a state to have something legalized they must have it pass some sorta vote two years in a row it passed last year for 2002 and now they are gonna try and get it passed for 2003 then from what I understand it will be legal by 2004. If so then hey Im packin my bags and movin to Nevada. Peace - GQ ... it was the love of the air and sky and flying, the lure of adventure, the appreciation of beauty ... -Charles Lindberg

  20. My girlfriend always seemed to enjoy seeing how much she could get away with doing some form of bondage stuff in public. She does this partly because she finds it fun, mostly because she knows it drives me out of my tree. Usually, Im able to fast- talk my way out of potentially embarrassing situations with Mundanes, but yesterday she very nearly got me fired. Yesterday afternoon we had lunch together. Afterward, she accompanied me back to work. I thought this slightly unusual, since she had never before expressed an interest in my work (electronic engineering), but it didn't occur to me that she had something planned. We arrived at my workbench, where I currently was trying to figure why the $&#%@^$ board on which I am working is not performing the way it is designed. "Is this where you work?" she asked. "At the moment," I replied. I reached over to turn on the scope, thereby completely failing to notice the huge black studded collar she had produced from her purse. Before I could blink (it's amazing the speed at which she can do this), she had locked the collar snugly around my neck, and locked the end of the 6 foot jack chain to the center of the bench ( where there just happened to be a mounting hole, dammit). I turned to her in utter disbelief, mouth agape. "I'll be back for you at five," she said. "HAVE YOU GONE COMPLETELY INSANE!??!?!", I yelled in a hushed voice. "How the hell am I going to explain this!?!?!" "You'll think of something", she said, dropping the keys into her cleavage, "you always do". "But suppose I have to go to the bathroom", I countered. "Don't give me that", she hissed, "I've seen you go a whole day without visiting the bathroom" "But....," I tried to say. "SHHH! The subject is closed. I'll be back at five. Bye" She turned around and left, against my protests. I sat in panic and tried to think out my situation. I tried to think of who might visit. Most of my co-workers were friends who knew that my girlfriend and I were a bit odd, so this shouldn't surprise them. But I had *no* idea what I was going to do if one of my bosses came in. I checked my watch to see how long I would have to endure this ignominy. 13:30 "Three and a half hours," I thought. I heaved a heavy sigh, and got to work, such as I could. As it happened, three of my co-workers visited for what-not. All of them immediately noticed the collar (it would be hard not to) and asked if it was my girlfriend's idea. I said yes. They asked what I would do if my supervisor saw it. I told them I hadn't the faintest idea. One of the aforementioned colleagues took the bench next to me, and after a few remarks (and a question as to where he could get such a collar), settled down to work in silence. After some time, I checked my watch. 16:40. "Gee, I just might make it through this after all," I thought. I was even beginning to get a handle on the problem with the $#%&&$# board on which I was working. Murphy must have been standing right behind me, reading my thoughts, for not two minutes later one of my bosses entered the room. And not just any boss. Noooooooo. This was Mr. Narrowminded himself. This was the guy who took Lifespring *and* became a born-again funda- mentalist. How he came to have the power of hire-and-fire over us is one of the Great Mysteries of The Universe. We avoided this guy at all costs. His eyes fell upon me immediately. A few seconds later, he saw the collar around my neck in all it's splendor. "My life is over," I thought. I still hadn't thought of a plausible explanation for this. Mr Solderbrain (the name we called him behind his back; a corruption of his real name) started to walk slowly and deliberately over to me, his eyes fixed on the collar. Fifteen agonizing seconds later, he was standing next to me. I thought the guy sitting next to me was going to have seizures stifling all his giggles. I continued to work, acting as though there were nothing the least bit unusual about my predicament. Finally, he spoke. "What. the. HELL! is. THAT!?!?!" he said. I don't know how I thought of what I said. In fact, I'm pretty sure I didn't know what I was going to say until I was saying it. I'm even more amazed that Solderbrain actually bought it and didn't fire me on the spot. I turned to face him calmly, with total nonchalance, exuding complete confidence in what I was about to say, even though I didn't know what it was yet. I didn't even miss a beat. "Grounding strap," I said, and returned to work. The guy next to me fell off his chair and nearly died laughing. - GQ ... it was the love of the air and sky and flying, the lure of adventure, the appreciation of beauty ... -Charles Lindberg
