  1. The photos I did from Z-Hills bigways this weekend are posted on my site. Thank you-Tony http://www.tonyhathaway.com/fotoserv/preview.php4?event=1302005/090Bigways-Zhills My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  2. I have been using one for the last year. It is really a studio camera and not great for sports photography. BUT, if you want to shoot 80 photos on a dive and pick out the best one, I guess the 20D is right. If you set up your shots and shoot just what you want, it is a GREAT camera for skydiving. Here is a direct link to one shot with it. http://www.tonyhathaway.com/fotoserv/preview_large.php4?event=1302005/120March&image=031105-03.jpg OR you can look at my site and everything from April, 2004 to last week was ALL shot with the 14n. -Tony [url]www.tonyhathaway.com My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  3. Today I did video/photos for a couple of tandems, and a few 36-40-ways, but the picture I snapped on the way home from the DZ gave me the biggest thrill!-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  4. You are 100% right. I think part of the problem is that plenty of people land poorly and don't realize it. I always thought, if you're going to land that badly, why would you want to go so fast? There was a guy here that had 800 jumps and was jumpig a velocity. He swooped the pond better than some with way more jumps, and more velocity jumps than him. There are WAY more categories that people fall into, I only put 2 in my original post. I don't think everyone should jump a square (lighly elliptical) just because I do. Quite the opposite. I like what canopies allow qualified people to do. I have the same quitar that Eddie Van Halen plays. That doen't mean I can play it anywhere close to the way he plays. My having a guitar better than my ability in no way can kill me. I was jumping before ZP was even on parachutes. I watched a lot of new designs come out. I wonder what will be in another 20 years. Unfortunately, the reality is, another 500+ skydivers (about the number that have died from skydiving in general since I started jumping) will probably be dead in the next 20 years and will never see the advances. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  5. You are right. One line that didn't get into my original post was that mine was still "plenty fast" . I was more referring in comparison to something like a velocity, or tiny something. I'll edit my post now. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  6. Demo jumping the reserves is a great idea.-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  7. You are missing my point so much. I'm not the least bit pissed when someone jumps a small parachute. I do find it amusing that so many people way overthink their ability. I was talking to a guy recently who told me he had a certain cross-braced canopy "dialed in" with only 60 jumps on it. I still learn new things on my 120's with 100 times that many jumps on it. I ask Scott Miller questions about stuff I don't know when I see him. I bet I have more jumps than Scott, but still know that I can learn from someone without as many jumps as me. I was just trying to make people think about what they jump. If you think I was criticizing people who jump a small canopy, you are way off. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  8. The most experienced staff at my home DZ (Skydive City/Z-Hills) and what they jump. Pip Redvers-16,200+ jumps- original Sabre 120 Billy Porter-10,200+ jumps-Sabre 2 135 Me, 11,700+ jumps-Spectre 120 All loaded at 1.5 or lower. It's not because we're old. That's 3 people with nearly 40,000 jumps. Flying a slower parachute effectively is WAY more fun than flying a fast parachute like crap. What category do you fall under? -Tony P.S. my parachute is still PLENTY fast. I'm only refering mine to some of the smaller ones that makes a relative difference of fast and slow. 9. The only thing the cold will do is maybe drain you battery quicker. Cold won't hurt the camera at all. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  10. Once again, problems only AFTER brakes were released. As far as soop cords under or over, gloves, etc. I've done both. I RARELY wear them under my gloves, as I think they are better outside. I also know someone who threw a hackey through his swoop cord. It all ended up fine (don't remember if he ended up on main or reserve) I also watched a guy without gloves cut-away with a hand caught in his lines. Guess what happened to him! Sometimes the same scenario (as close as it can be) with the same actioins create 2 different problems & outcomes. I also know someone who had a baglock on his reserve because of his altimeter on his hand. So all of you fooling yourself into thinking its all cameras, ringsights, & swoopcords that are bad, how many of you wear an altimeter??? There is always a potential snag point no matter what you wear. Some snag points have happened with the continer the parachute just came out of! Some are worse than others of course. (yes camera helmets usually are about as bad as it gets), but there are plenty of "other" snag points that haven't happened yet. Someone has to be first! You can do what you can to control as much of it as possible. Keep your excess stowed as well as you can, look before you pull your toggles. Thinking that because you wear something, or don't wear something in a certain place, or have no camera is only making yourself FEEL safer about something that might not necessarily BE safer. I wrote this on another thread a year & a half ago. My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  11. I don't see basically doing everything INSIDE the plane with ONE arm (seatbelts, gear checks, moving around, etc.) because you are busy trying to protect your investment!!!-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  12. What do you mean? High performance canopy( velocity, katana, etc.), or high-performance landings, (relative to itself with any canopy? -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.

  20. I have some photo posted from Skydive New England from this past weekend. Go to "find your photos" after you open up my site. Thanks-Tony www.tonyhathaway.com My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  21. That is a very nice shot. It would go nice anywhere. The only problem is, there are countless others that were taken this week that would make nice cover shots also. Take that times all of the weekends this month, and only ONE photo is going to the September cover. Then comes October it starts all over again. I don't have a problem with people complaining about the photos. It's like the old saying -if you want something done right, do it yourself. Complaining about the photos isn't going to change what the photographers are doing. Shooting better photos then them will. -Tony www.tonyhathaway.com My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  22. Well, Josh has a good point. By the way, I am the one who shot the photo of Kaz on the July cover. I would like to add-though some already have- do what I did years ago when I had similar thoughts about the photos. Do it yourself. If you shoot well enough, they'll print it. Yes I agree that there are plenty of photographers who shoot great photos and don't get much print, I don't know why or how that works. I do know plenty of people who shoot enough quality photos that they could alone fill all of the covers, centerfolds and photo-finish all year. However, they only get a few of those slots in a year at best. Take the photos that YOU want to see and put guys like me out of a job. The more people that shoot, the better everyone becomes eventually. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
