  1. Mostly. A few. Depends how you look at it. If you judge me by my actions, my moral fiber is rock solid. If you go by my thoughts… well, let's just be glad thinking isn't a crime. cavete terrae.
  2. http://spiceweasel.net/shirts.jpg Nothing skydiving related, but what's not to love? cavete terrae.
  3. You have no idea. cavete terrae.
  4. I'm a sportbike guy through and through. cavete terrae.
  5. Steve you live in OZ now mate, there is no OFF SEASON, go buy a bike and insure it It was insured, that's why I've got the money for the new one It's more laziness than anything, I hate dealing with salespeople. I need to go test riding and all that. cavete terrae.
  6. Think that's scary? I've been a certified lifeguard and water safety instructor for 11 years, and _I_ have never heard of it. That is scary, it's one of the 1st things i was taught as a life guard. Near drowing patients should be sent to hospital. Particularly in salt water, osmosis causes the lungs to secrete fluid to try and equalise the salt concentraion in the alvioli. causing you to drown. Salt water aspiration, and secondary drowning are also what i have heard it called. Interesting. I was never a coastal lifeguard, just lake/river/pool. I know the training IS different for coastal, that must be one of the things they cover cavete terrae.
  7. All this bike talk makes me sad :( My baby got stolen a few months ago, still haven't replaced it yet. I'll probably wait for (southern hemisphere) spring to roll around cavete terrae.

  9. Plan on stopping by Buffalo Alice for a beer and a pizza?? It'll probably happen, the pizza at least. I just realized I have to renew my USPA membership now, dammit cavete terrae.

    Jews for jumping

http://spiceweasel.net/batjew.jpeg We should team up! Caveat to this is that I'm crypto-Jewish. I was raised as jew, had a bar mitzvah, but now I'm a very dedicated atheist. But I still have to put on a front of Judaism to keep my family happy cavete terrae.
  12. A couple of years back, I was doing a bat-hang from a 182 and thumped my alti on the step when I fell. Continued with the dive, and glanced at my alti a few seconds after getting stable. Then my brain said "wait a second, that can't be right", and I took a solid look at it. When I realized it was reading 11,000 15 seconds into a dive that started at 10,000', I knew treachery was afoot Good practice though, since I got to have first-hand experience on estimating opening altitude cavete terrae.
  13. Well put. I'm less interested in the static speed than the swing of the gusts and the direction it's coming from. Just because a student is allowed to jump a 14kt wind doesn't mean he should be jumping when it's 5 gusting to 14, after all. cavete terrae.
  14. 2004: First jump course (Static line): $165. Additional static line jumps: $40, with gear rental. Student freefalls, with gear rental: $25 Coach's fee: $0 Up jumper lift ticket: $14 to 10,000' My licence, including USPA fees, cost me $875. cavete terrae.
  15. Someone needs to kick her in the twat and use her as a snowshoe. Now THAT would be entertainment. cavete terrae.
  16. That beats mine cavete terrae.
  17. Spending a few days in LA to get some tunnel time and see friends
  18. I had a bad enough experience last time. I was getting ready to board in MEL, and they were doing individual bag checks at the gate. They made me open my main So I got to be the asshole repacking a main at the gate and holding up the flight. I tried to warn 'em, but noooo. cavete terrae.

  20. …I will again be in the United States in about two weeks. Hide your women. cavete terrae.
  21. Jumps 0-44: Mostly Raven IV, 282sqft @ .9 or so. Jumps 45-113: Fusion 210 @ 1.2ish. In retrospect, downsizing 70sqft, going from F-111 to ZP, and square to tapered all on the same jump wasn't brilliant, but turned out fine. Jumps 114- onward, Fusion 190 @ 1.35ish. cavete terrae.
  22. We can put McCain, Obama, and Clinton in a room, and tie their left wrists together. Then we tie wickedly sharp combat knives to their right hands. Last person with a pulse wins the presidency… but to validate the win, the person must survive 24 hours WITHOUT MEDICAL CARE OR EQUIPMENT before being sworn in. We all win! cavete terrae.
