ATTENTION - WILL STRIBLING - WATCH OUT FOR SCAM!
Scootersv replied to Scootersv's topic in Gear and Rigging
I believe If somebody in this case was seriously trying to analyse all the facts in this the matter a lot of it would become just obvious and clear as black & white: 1. The rig was advertised in complete gear section, not in containers only; 2. The rig was shipped along with the reserve canopy only. As per "stop45" approach the seller could ship just the container alone but yet still included the reserve canopy (interesting, isn't it?); 3. Again by using the same approach the seller clearly indicated that none of the parts of the rig has been jumped (what parts?, if it was just the contaner); 4. Seller refused to issue the refund for the rig eventhough it was requested; (i believe the buyer is 100% entitled for it) 5. Agan as per "stop45" approach the price it was advertised under was far exceeding all the reasonable expectations someone could sell that Icon container for (there is no doubts about that); 6. And finally in one of his e-mails seller clearly indicated that he was going to take pics of the main canopy and provide S/N for all parts of it. (again what parts? if it was just the container, but strangely he even mentioned the canopy) There are so many proves in the whole thread of the seller's intention to rip the buyer off, with none of the proves from the buyer that would indicate that the main canopy was not part of the deal. -

Yes, i have. Seller was not willing to do so saying that the deal was complete. Interestingly though, how some people assume that as soon as they receive the payment the deal is concluded and they don't really care whether the other other party is satisfied, or whether they fulfilled their obligations as a seller. -

Yes, the rig was advertised complete and paid for as complete but arrived minus main, risers, pilot chute, bag and even hook knife. I could sound like a cut away loosing main apart from the fact the rig arrived with both silver and red cut away pillows. Moreover the rig was advertised as never been jumped and container arrived spotless clean. As i've said the seller ceased the communication & vanished pretty much immediately after the request to provide the exact colour pattern and S/N of the canopy. Those big questions were left there sitting unanswered, i had no chances to question the seller about other bits & pieces suppose to arrive with the container. Staff member of Skydive New Mexico (where the rig was originally assembled) has responded to my post in a private e-mail. -

Hi everyone. I thought i'd post some additional details so it'll be all crystal clear for everyone trying to eliminate all the possibilities and doubts. Seller might claim that he did not think the main canopy supposed to be as a part of the complete set he sold eventhough the rig was listed under compete gear section with, and the description of the actual ad included container/main/reserve canopy. The rig was originally listed complete for $3600.00 and included container/main/reserve canopies. Seller received $3500.00 payment for the rig and now claims that the deal did not include the main at all - this is amazing. I wish we had a recorder attached to the phone conversation we had with the guy. Here is the extract from one of the e-mails i'm still having proving that the main canopy was actually a part the rig advertised: "... Re: Icon rig From: Will Stribling () Sent: Sunday, 7 June 2009 3:21:51 PM To: Serguei Borichtchev (scootersv@hotmail.com) Hi Serg, Here are some pics of the rig I don't have pictures of the canopy but I can take some. I can get you the serial #'s for all of it. -Will -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Serguei Borichtchev To: Sent: Saturday, June 6, 2009 8:29:19 PM Subject: RE: Icon rig Hey Will. Thanks for getting back to me. Do you have any pics of the rig & main canopy? And S/N of the container and both canopies. "... Now the question to admin: Is it technically possible to bring back alive this listing: 78546 so everyone can actually see what was originally listed in the ad. Regardless, the prove is in the sellers e-mail anyway. So i guess the lesson for everyone here is: Be extra careful who you deal with on line, as you never know even if the goods were listed in the actual ad and you paid for them you may not still receive them as seller might start claiming that you were not supposes to receive them at all as they were not the part of the package advertised. My advise would be is to collect as many evidence/proves of the goods advertised prior making the payment for the goods. Get all the proves guys in writing as phone conversation are too hard to monitor as seller in this case was deliberately avoiding e-mails asking for phone calls. The stolen canopy is still out there. I'm just wondering what kind of person is going to buy it after all that? I hope potential buyer will read this thread before making any decisions. Again, any helpful info on the canopy whereabouts will be great & much appreciated. Best Regards, Serg -
And the "winner" should fight then against Pilot 168.

I did not wanna really do it but silly boy have left me with no other options First of all: Wanted! Pilot 168, solid black with orange centre cell. Dom: March, 2008, S/N: 168-12561 Canopy was sold as a part of the complete set up: Icon I5/Pilot 168/Smart 175, but never delivered, along with risers, main pilot chute, D-bag and hook knife. Upon contacting the seller re: main canopy whereabouts he maintained innocence all the way through, claiming the canopy was shipped as a part of the same package along with the container & reserve canopy. Apparently this is not true - the rig was delivered in the original packaging undisturbed, as it was shipped by the seller, being squashed in a small square box. There is no way it could take another canopy in, it's barely was holding the container and reserve canopy, that tight the package was. Seller seaced further communication pretty much immediately after bering requested the colour pattern of the canopy & it's S/N. The rig was assembled by CJ Harwigsen from Skydive New Mexico on 30th of June, 2008. Skydive New Mexico will be also notified regarding the matter along with the manufacturer. Now seller's info: Will Stribling [personal address, phone number, and email address removed by slotperfect ATTENTION PACKERS, RIGGERS, DZ MANAGEMENT OR POTENTIAL BUYERS. I know how hard is to locate a canopy among thousand of others, however this was not a mass production Pilot 168, with what we believe is very distinguished colour pattern. So, packers, riggers, DZ Management or potential buyers/new owner plz pay attention what you pack, service, or allow to jump as you might be packing, servicing or allowing to jump stolen gear on your DZ. New owner/potential buyer plz be aware by buying this canopy you'll be acquiring/jumping stolen gear. Any info on the canopy's current whereabouts will be great and much appreciated. Does anybody know/dealt with Ronald David Vento?
Scootersv replied to Scootersv's topic in Gear and Rigging
Hey folks. Does anybody know the guy by the name of Ronald David Vento? He claimed to be a rigger, his e-email is ron_vento@me.com I know people had a very negative experience dealing with that person. Any help/info re: his current whereabouts or contact info would be great & much appreciated as he is not responding to the e-mails sent to him. Thanks in advance. Serg -
- South African ZP which is less slippery than US and less durable - Have got nothing against Flamingos but the statement above sounds at least disputable. Had a chance to test jump few years old Hornet with over 1000 jump on the canopy (it was fresh line set on it though) - it flew just fine. Referring to your post apparently i jumped a ;dead; canopy.
-
Tried all the techniques pretty much. Shortened the closing loop as well, made it probably too short - it did the job though regarding the symmetry of the flaps 3 & 4 against the center of the rig but my concern was that the snatch force of the pilot chute won't be enough to pull the pin out. I tried to do it manually and it was not easy, so tight it was. You also end up with many ugly wrinkles doing it that way.
-
Just a clarification. The main concern of the post is not the wrinkles but the symmetry (being equally distant) of the flaps 3 and 4 against the flap that covers the main pin.
-
I know how to close it, no probs but i wanna learn how to close and it looks nice after all, if that makes any difference. I actually was facing the same challenge trying to eliminate wrinkles on Infinity rigs and after receiving some tips from people who deal with them more often than i do the problem was solved.

Hey folks. Spent the whole day playing with brand new Icon I4(Smart 150/Pilot 150/Argus) trying to make it looks pretty. I like how the reserve sits in it - firm but not extremely tight, and the pack job i believe should settle down a bit within a week or so, so i might shorten the loop then. Tuck tabs requires a bit of attention on Icons - so stiff (and the reserve tray is full in this case) otherwise there is a chance you could break stiffeners in them - not easy to handle. I know couple of people were saying to me they had them open in free fall but i believe it's due to the tucking them in incorrectly in the first place as Icons appears to be so stiff in yoke area. I've had about 5 jumps on that rig and had no issues with them. The main concern here though is the main tray of the container. Not something i had difficulties to close but to close it correctly so the whole rig in that part looks nice (main D bag accommodates Pilot 150 nice - good fit, no issues). So any tips how to close the main tray properly to eliminate wrinkles on flaps 3 and 4? Closing container all grommets on top of each other? What length of the closing loop supposes to be in this case than? Position of the bag in the tray: lines facing BOC or? Do you pull all the length of the closing loop through all the flaps or just till to the top tip of it through each flap? Or maybe some flaps all the way some to the tip of it? Tried several methods and no matter what i did after closing the rig end up with the flap 4 grommet slides off flap 3 grommet creating asymmetry in the whole packing job. I understand the whole issue is not something that'll affect safety of using the rig but rather just having cosmetic effect on the whole thing. Simply wanna know how to make the whole rig looking nice - that's all. Any thoughts & tips here are welcome and will be much appreciated. Happy New Year btw. everyone. Cheers, Serg

As per heading: Has anybody seen one? If so, pros and cons? Or they all come standard equipped with 1500 Spectra line set. Thanks in advance.

I beieve Fusion is ZP made canopy, not hybrid like Robo, therefore Fusion suppose to pack a bit bigger. Thanks for your input anyway.
-
Hi folks ! Your experienced input is required. The question is: I'm planning to stuff a 225 sq.ft main canopy (in my case it is a Robo Z, '92 made, half ZP/half F111) and 225 sq.ft reserve ( in my case it is a Swift Plus, '92 made) into Infinity I-55. Am i dreaming ?
-
That's the way ! Let's acknowledge this: there is a common misconception about quoting your bank/account details selling/buying gear. I personally would not call anybody an asshole who is trying clarify the subject in this forum - better safe than sorry. I believe this issue has been clarified in this thread. Re: funds first then goods vs goods first then funds. I think before committing to anything, set up a gentleman's agreement that the funds will be refunded if the customer is not satisfied with the goods within the certain time frame and the issue will be resolved in most of the cases. Use your local rigger or any other trusted third party if necessary. Serg. Who is afraid of Karabas Barabas ?

I'm familiar as well how wire transfers work and i have to agree with ciechan that giving your bank/account information you only let the funds enter your account. This information does not provide an automatic access to your account at all ! At the same time i would not call it paranoia. Hey folks ! Here what you have to watch out for: Greetings i am mr jerrys ahmed I view your advert placement of the internet and i am having a genuine interested in buying your Said $3495.00 + shipping. All parts of this rig are in outstanding condition which for sale ,so firstly i will want you to tell me the last price and the conditions they are presently with the pics.Dont worry about shipping , i will arrange the shipping myself. My mode of payment is through a international Cashier's Check drawn in united states of American Funds.Expecting your mail back. REGARDS. jerrys ahmed And another one: (actually by the same person, sounds like this guy does not care what size of main/reserve he needs: Greetings i am mr jerrys ahmed I view your advert placement of the internet and i am having a genuine interested in buying your Said Fully loaded Javelin Odyssey container system, '02 made which for sale ,so firstly i will want you to tell me the last price and the conditions they are presently with the pics.Dont worry about shipping , i will arrange the shipping myself. My mode of payment is through a international Cashier's Check drawn in united states of American Funds.Expecting your mail back. The clearance procedure does not take that long, normally 3-4 days business days. And if still in a doubt talk to your bank.
-
Sounds like dodgy e-mails. The most likely that it is the same person just using different e-mails to confuse you. Don't provide them with your bank/account details. Say that the cashier cheque (not personal one) from their bank would do. Wait till it arrives, then clear it, Only after that ship the canopy. In the meantime ask for their full name/address/and the phone number. Then give them a short call, just for your own piece of mind, so you'll know who you are dealing with. That worked for me and normally will piss them off. Serg. Play safe, pull high
