  1. I imagine a good reason why manufacturers don't publicly publish this sort of stuff is competition. They want to keep their designs, which they have spent a lot of time and money on, secret. More importantly, Booth's law. You said it yourself, skydivers are not interested in safety, we are interested in tie die fabrics and pinstripes.
  2. Thanks Jerry, although I think if you saw the canopy up close you wouldn't want to jump it. I still have much to work on before I will have something airworthy. Here are a few pictures without the risers crossed. [inline DSC_0164.JPG] [inline DSC_0165.JPG]
  3. Entire canopy finished, apart from some real dacron lines it's good to go. The trim is awfully steep, with all the pressure on the front risers. Very easy to ground handle though.
  4. Five and a half cells sewn together and side stacked (you'll just have to believe me I'm afraid, the picture isn't very clear). [inline ak000010.jpg]
  5. Well hasn't this turned into a nice thread.
  6. Feet and knees together, hands in front of you and all the way down, don't let your toggles up before you've finished landing. Edit: I'm a tit.
  7. Nothing like a little incident to remind me that I'm not ready. I've been jumping 210's since I was a student, so I'm more than ready to downsize, right? In fact, a quick conversation with my dealer and he said I should get a 150 or a 170 for my first rig. I weigh about 160 out of the door, and there are people who have downsized much quicker than me, so that's no big deal right? Anyway, I ended up having an unexpected downwind landing in California on a Spectre 210, and I made the classic mistake of flaring too hard and too fast, luckily no injuries. I thought I could fly my canopy and I was ready to downsize ages ago, apparently not.
  8. As far as I know it is technically a job for a master nigger because they are 'altering' the harness.
  9. Nice find! If you don't want it I know someone who does. The manual makes for amusing reading, boasting about amazing performance and soft landings.
  10. Nice PIA vids DSE! I remember when I went to jump at Lake Elsinore I was thinking, 'I'm sure I've seen that guy somewhere before'.
  11. THE GOOBERMENT IS ADDING STUFFS TO OUR MILK; WAKE UP SHEEPLE.
  12. Thanks for the info. I assume that any quantity will be a rarity nowadays then.
  13. Got my first topskin and NLB cut out so I did the I beam work on the centre cell, and well as the bridle attachment and reinforcements. Not much to see from the shitty pictures but I have a feeling this is going to be a good kite. Also note the hilarious comedy warning label. [inline AK000031.JPG] [inline AK000035.JPG]
  14. A soon as you stop throwing the term 'Liberal' around.
  15. I would seek professional help for the root cause of the problem. Perhaps hypnotherapy or something.
  16. According to a comment from the uploader it is a Tempo 150 loaded at around 1:1. The reason I wanted to share this video is because that's not a massively high wing loading and the main malfunction was dealt with at a fairly decent height.
  17. It's the other way round. The lines get longer towards the tail, giving the canopy a nose-down trim. Don't worry about getting confused about this, it'll be easy to see when pro-packing.
  18. Oops. Oh well then. Thanks for the great post.
  19. Apologies if it's been posted before. I'm sure there is lots to say about this one. http://youtu.be/XdbRcJfqtVU?t=1m35s Video starts at deployment.
  20. Some manufacturers do have minimum wing loading limits. Icarus, as far as I know, recommends loadings no lighter than 0.5:1.
