  1. Ron Paul: Defend the Constitution, Not the U.N. Security Council! Back a hundred years ago, especially around Woodrow Wilson, what happened in this country is we took freedom and we chopped it into pieces. Ron Paul
  2. Me? Nah, I have been following all this for a little while now. Those that have been too busy watching 'dancing with the stars' may get a little dazzled though... Great presentation, I like the Judge. Back a hundred years ago, especially around Woodrow Wilson, what happened in this country is we took freedom and we chopped it into pieces. Ron Paul
  3. To a point where you begin to stall... Atmo is in the middle of the range, tracking is on the edge. Back a hundred years ago, especially around Woodrow Wilson, what happened in this country is we took freedom and we chopped it into pieces. Ron Paul
  4. As long as his thoughts are presented, then that will give the public the opportunity to think about the situation in a realistic manner. BHO is dishonest; I really do not believe he will be re-elected. Charisma only works for so long, we can easily see through the lies. If BHO did what he promised; OK. But he 'flips a bitch' on everything he says so... You'd have to be an idiot to go along with that for another 4 years, especially with our current state of affairs. 6. I am not sure what to think. That is why I would like a more detailed discussion. Back a hundred years ago, especially around Woodrow Wilson, what happened in this country is we took freedom and we chopped it into pieces. Ron Paul
  7. Understood, but why are the discussions locked, this is a discussion forum after all. The foreign object was obviously enough for MirageSys to reverse their ban. Some require more information than others, some are reluctant to acknowledge that a steel ball in a circular cutter may interfere, many can easily understand. If you require further inspection of the ball and photos of the damaged caused by it, that tells me you believe that there is a chance that the investigator was not being honest when he informed us of his discovery? 8. LOL, So parachutes don't produce lift? Wingsuits? What are you trying to say. Parachutes, tracking, wingsuits and atmo produce lift, not enough to go up again, but enough to reduce the fall rate. 9. I would prefer not to discuss the politics behind you reason, more so I would like to discuss the reasoning behind the reversal of the decision to ban them, the reason for doing so and the amount of time it took to make such a decision. I know people that have been forced to purchase another brand of AAD while they have waited for clarification on this matter. It was only a short period of time from when the incident occurred, to when the foreign object was discovered. Though this was the reasoning behind lifting the ban, the period of time it took to lift it was far too long. Meanwhile the other AAD companies have enjoyed a spike in sales, other companies are now likely to follow suit... I guess the cheap Argus' will be a good investment after all! 10. Ron Paul is the only honest candidate for president. Political fairy tales have got us all into this mess, honesty and hard work is the only way out now... 11. haha, like the first strike in operation dessert storm, no casualtes they reported, 100% success... Until investigative reporters, reported what actually happened. I find it amusing that anyone actually takes the political spin seriously anymore... Who was successful? OSL or GWB/BHO? 12. That is some seriously tight angle flying, changing the leader like that and remaining so tight is simply amazing... Thanks for sharing. To the atmo nay sayers, if you don't like the tv show, change the channel. freedom of choice and all that... go do a tracking jump or something... 13. Yep it is an icarus. Speed wings are too flat and stiletto like (elliptical) for my liking. we learned that is not the best for speed a decade ago, but they will get there eventually. They are good for no wind days and 'kids' hills, but you cannot beat the performance of a (decent) parachute. As the paragliders get more and more used to actually going fast and steep, we will see the speed wings become more like high performance parachutes. My speed flying wing is an Jyro (icarus) 105 for 1993 in mint condition, the speed flyers tell me it is tiny. To me it feels quite big...? and yes it is deployable.... 14. Hey buddy, The Key to Atmo is to find a leader that is proficient in maintaining an angle. The angle should not be too steep nor too flat. There is a range of angles that fall within that definition and it doesn't really matter exactly what angle it is. It is very similar to a tracking jump but a lot more relaxed and not as flat and stiff. Flying head level is important to avoid burbleing each other and to avoid a deep explanation of that, I have linked the following picture and you will find more detail on the discipline. http://atmonauti.com/main.html (just realised it is a HTML that will only take you to the intro, so click in and go to the 'Atmonauti?' page. Do not listen to the (iminent) childish remarks from nay sayers. They are not worth the energy. They will say it is like flocking etc etc, but flocking is a 'sliding' formation that moves from (relative) wind deflection, Atmo is quite different as it uses lift much like traking but in a more relaxed manner allowing you to present feet and arms for docking. Most of all it is fun and anybody that tries to take that fun away from you is a wanker. Just have fun doing what you want to do... 15. The difference is that Atmo is successful in pretty much every country except for the USA as far as a being recognised as its own dicipline. I (almost) did an angle jump in America that was organised by a very experienced freeflyer with 13000 jumps etc etc blah blah.. He was a freefly guru and an awesome tunnel coach too... anyway. Myself and my swiss buddy had been doing a bunch of really nice Atmo jumps at the time making a bunch of points, rotating positions, flying had level and having fun. We were calling our jumos Atmo jumps (rightfully so) with some confused looks from our american peers. Anyway this load organiser, looked at me and my buddy in the dirt dive and said; "I know you guys are flying head level on your angle jumps, but on this dive we are going to strictly fly a delta formation" He dared not say Atmo... We said OK, laughed (at him) and went and did our own jump and made a bunch of points and had a bunch of fun. They did thier 'burble each other' serious jump no points and not quite grasping the finer details... My Point? You can tell an American, but you can't tell them much. 16. Sounds like he is telling you to 'rub one off'? Flick the bean... Been a while? Back a hundred years ago, especially around Woodrow Wilson, what happened in this country is we took freedom and we chopped it into pieces. Ron Paul
  17. I agree that there haven't been proven cases. But there are documeted and clarified by Airtec; cases of cypres2 units firing when they should not have. One of these was (well) after deployment and before landing. What poses more risk? Back a hundred years ago, especially around Woodrow Wilson, what happened in this country is we took freedom and we chopped it into pieces. Ron Paul
  18. I appologise for insinuating that a full description was not given to Airtec, obviously from your response it has. This clarifies things more. Especially your information about Airtec only becoming interested once the fault hit the public forum. Back a hundred years ago, especially around Woodrow Wilson, what happened in this country is we took freedom and we chopped it into pieces. Ron Paul
  19. They have been given the information and they seem stumped because they are reluctant to conclude that it was entirely a failure of the unit? They probably want more information because they cannot come to any other conclusion other than their unit was faulty. Yes they are interested, as expected, but nothing is beng done about it and the rest of us are left to wonder. I'm sure Avacom are interested in their cutters too. AAD in their sensors, so all 3 major AAD companies have a fault they are interested in. Still makes this one the single worst failure of all IMHO. 20. I am refering to this comment from Airtec to the concerned. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=129001; It states that the unit had fired 160 jumps previously, and that is the only data in the unit pertaining to any activations. They then go on to say if the unit had a hard impact then there is potential for any data to be lost. That is the bizarre comment that makes me feel weary about their reply. It does not help that the client does not provide more information. Though there is a language barrier there. We have to assume that the client is telling the truth about the reserve popping open recently so that leaves a few possibilities... I don't want to start guessing though I can come up with 3 scenarios, but the response from Airtec seems less than diligent as far as resolving and addressing the problem. It seems they have the 'it couldn't possibly be us' attitude. I may be wrong about that, but the relative silence on the issue from those that were filling up several threads on the Argus just days ago is quite interesting. You are right; there are not many posts at all in this thread that address the issue. I could fill out my profile with whatever statistics I like, what is written in my profile does not affect this one Iota. 21. The wingloading point is relevant, but the crossbracing not so much. The only reason all canopies are not cross braced is cost and bulk. If those were not a factor, then student canopies would benifit from cross bracing as they produce a more rigid and efficient airfoil. Just because your canopy has cross braces in it, does not mean you have to dive the thing toward the ground...Lol The first cross braces were 170sq/ft. Back a hundred years ago, especially around Woodrow Wilson, what happened in this country is we took freedom and we chopped it into pieces. Ron Paul
  22. Basically I think he is asking the same as I am; Why is such a vague and ambiguous answer with no resolution acceptable from Airtec? Why have all the people that were so quick to bash Aviacom so silent on this matter...? Probably because they have a Cypres in thier own gear. The moderators were even in on the Argus bashing, but I don't see them commenting here now. Double standards? This was the single worst failure of an AAD to date, and we are just expected to accept it and just carry on... I don't think so Airtec, you had better start explaining yourselves. Especially considering how you were recently touting yourselves as the integrety based company that has impecable standards and quality assurance. Back a hundred years ago, especially around Woodrow Wilson, what happened in this country is we took freedom and we chopped it into pieces. Ron Paul
  23. Can we address the current fault please? I am still interested in what people think about the Cypres failing to operate within, it's parameters, fail to log the problem and inhibit the container system from working correctly. This is much, much worse than simply firing of, or failing to cut the loop. Currently Argus' are banned, and nothing is being done about it. Vigils and Cypres' are posing more danger as they are still in service, are still having problems, and these problems are not being addressed by the manufacturers. Are we expected to accept that because AAD and Airtec are PIA members that the letter sent out by the PIA is not relevant to Vigils and Cypres’? A severed loop will inhibit the correct function of a container. The Argus was banned on that basis, why not vigil and cypress? Money? Where is the safety factor in this? It is OK if you are the main player and PIA member? Back a hundred years ago, especially around Woodrow Wilson, what happened in this country is we took freedom and we chopped it into pieces. 24. Why is everybody that was so quick to attack Argus and Vigil so silent on this particular issue? It seems this is the worst failure of all so far in the AAD market. The unit failed to work within it's perameters, it failed to lag any data and it put lives in danger. Is the community going to accept the weak response from airtec on this issue? Too many people to ground if cypres 2's are to be grounded? Airtec do not seem to have found any damage to the unit, and it failed to work more than once. That means any cypres 2 unit 'could' fail in the same way. After the letter about their perfection and dilligence recently in response to the argus issue, one would expect a more comprehensive approach to their own issues. Back a hundred years ago, especially around Woodrow Wilson, what happened in this country is we took freedom and we chopped it into pieces. Ron Paul
  25. How has everybody forgotten already that a Cypres fired when it shouldn't have? The unit failed to record the data and Airtec have no explanation for this. This has happened since the Argus issue. Why has everybody simply ignored this horrifying reality? Reluctance to accept that they are jumping with a potentially faulty unit? It is all good to criticise when it is a unit that you are not using (eg. Argus) Argus is banned, should it be? Who knows? For now they are (for the most part) banned and we simply have to wait to see what happens with them. In the meantime both AAD and Airtec have very serious issues that are not being addressed. The letter from the PIA to the manufacturers should include the scope of these more recent incidents and the manufacturers should assess the airworthiness of all AAD's as cutting a loop when it is not wanted poses much more risk to the skydiving community than locking a rig closed only a couple of seconds before impact. I seriously hope we do not see multiple fatalities from a Vigil or Cypres, it may be a case of when, not if; if the current attitude is upheld. Let’s hope the new Mars units don't have these issues. Maybe the testing programs of these units should be transparent and published to allow us to make more informed decisions, especially if we are forced to use an AAD if we decide to skydive. Vigils are firing off like party poppers on new years eve, and Airtec have a unit that failed to work within it's parameters, failed to record any data (or so they tell us) and everybody is cool with the function of Cypres? I agree, what the hell is going on with AAD’s, it seems it is more about money than safety these days.
