anyone using the optic, rawa or other open face helmets of this type with stills for tandems? Has anyone made a homemade d box for thier still. seems on these types of helmets they stick out like a sore thumb. everyone gets a d-box for thier 500$ video but leaves thier 1000$still up top to get knocked around. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

Whatever works for you guys. all depends on why you are losing them. too much air makes your eyes water and they float out. not enough blinking and they dry out and pop out. Thats my theory and i'm stickin to it. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

I always thought the vent holes were designed to equalize the pressure as you descended, especially in freefall. If one’s goggles were very tight against the face, but the vent holes were taped over, wouldn’t that logically make the goggles pull tighter and tighter against the face as one descended? I remember hearing a story (urban rumor? not sure) of someone who wore swimming goggles while jumping, and when he landed and took them off, he looked like a chipmunk. It's not a problem. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

I am 20/200 without contacs. I have lost a contact maybe 4 times in 1200 jumps. landing with one contact is no big deal. most of the time it was when I wasnt wearing a helmet. must be somthing about the airflow. Doesnt seem to matter what contacts I wear. It is usually a little breeze in my googles that causes my eyes to water and the contacts float out. Always makw sure the goggles are tight and the vent holes are taped up. If your eyes are drying out and the contacts popping out try relaxing and blink occasionally. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

Everyone seems to want to compare the prices in europe to us prices. Apple and oranges. the gas price is worldwide. everyone pays the same, it's just the amount of taxes on each gallon or litre that is different. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

Damn. never jumped a sigma but that drouge looks like a bunch of shit hanging out of the pouch. nothing like puting your side to the reletive wind, it's not like that is part of the process to get into a side spin or anything. great pic though! _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time" -

There is a mass e-mail going around that is trying to get people to stop buying gas from one of the large companies, lets say exxon-mobil. If no one bought gas from this company they would have to lower thier prices forcing the other companies to do the same. Havent thought much about it but on the surface it sounds plausible. Lets face it. the oil companies have posted the largest profits in history. exxon-mobile just knocked off walmart for #1 _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

Ok, opening day of the skydiving season this year was a weather wash. I climb a ladder in the hanger to look at this button on a speaker hanging from a I-beam. ( I like buttons) ladder went out from under me and among other things dislocated my thumb. now here it is sat. morning weather a bit cold but sunny and I cant use my thumb for much yet. at least not enough to toss a drouge. That was dumb. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

As a truck driver i roll up on a lot of accidents. The last one was a single car, dry pavement, roll over in the median. snow on the ground. I ran into the median as the person was out of the vehicle lying down on his side, back towards me. coat was pulled up high. rather than roll him over for a neck pulse I tried to get a wrist pulse till someone tapped me on the shoulder and said "dont bother" as I looked up I noticed the victims head lying about 3 feet away staring at me. He was wearing a seatbelt or so I read later in the newspaper report online. but the whole seat had ripped out of the car. As it was a very clean cut I have always assumed the seatbelt is what cut his head off. Not a good day. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time" -

PD rocks. My wife snuck my stiletto out of the house and sent it in for a reline as a christmas present. PD not only did the reline but called and asked her if they could do some testing on the fabric as it is an old canopy. Canopy passed test and they also replaced the slider. also put new stabs and what looks like 2 new cells. Wife sent in canopy with risers atached. they sent note back saying that the velcro on risers should be replaced. Not thier risers or thier job to look at them at all yet they went the extra mile and did so. was billed for the reline and slider only. While i am at it Strong rocks too. lot of work on my wifes and my quasars for a very low price. all mods for free. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time" -
Havent been a flooring installer for a few years but have installed thousands of feet of laminate. unless things have changed you need to glue the tounge and groove. use small rachet srtaps to tighten the joints especially with the thicker pad you have underneath. If it says "made for the do-it-yourselfer" or somthing similar stay away from it. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

Tips for flying a Camera Jacket - Tandems

Well, Your on the right track with the wings. The idea is dress for success. the wings are collapsed with your arms the way you describe. I do the exact same thing. Use a little logic here. If you slowly bring your arms in you will slowly increase your speed. if its a heavy tandem you wont need to wear a wing suit if you are a relitively light person. Anticipate. Adapt. Practice. In my opinion shorts are not dressing for success. you might need the drive from botties or at least somthing on your legs. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time" -
I hear ya Stratostar. I am not saying the ftp and or the Azimuth isn't a good helmet .. they are. money for skydiving equipment is low on the list of priorties. thats why I grumble about the price of a helmet. Shit, it took 7 years before I broke down and bought cyppres's for my wife and I. I know what a Wes Rich goes for. I have his instuctional cd for making one. building a generic helmet and custom fitting the foam padding is a hell of a lot easeir. but i still might break down and do the work to make a wes rich design. A while back I tried to get some feedback from people that use one. I know Hathaway uses one. but didnt get a response from anyone. I am more interested in getting somthing for my wife. she does the majority of the video at the dz and is still using a protec. I dont get to do as much video anymore since I started tossing drouges. I am using an old Hanson that has been modified here and there. no cutaway but that never bothered me. now between the new digital still, putting togather a second rig for my wife and flying lessons, well, Not much left over for a helmet. gotta save money for Rantoul ya know! Buddy bought a ftp that had been accidently cut away and cracked for a very low price. fine helmet still 100% usable. Speaking of cutaways. seems I know a lot more people that have had thousands of dollars worth of gear destroyed by cutaway systems than I know have saved thier life with one. _______________ "It seemed like a good idea at the time"

I am sorry but the leading contenders in top mounts are way over engineered and as such are way out of line in cost. composite lighter than fibreglass? well they are bieng clever there. composite mat is lighter than fibreglass mat however once the resins are added fibreglass is lighter. "Ingenius heat forming foam"? Hardly. I work at a foam company. I can get you all you want at a low price. What are you looking for? A stable platform capable of doubling as a crash helmet? or a stable paltform that is durable unless you throw the damn thing around or drop it from 100 feet. Cost of R&D vs # of sales and/or cost of material as reason for high cost? Over engineered. composites are expensive and unecsasary Build my own and find out how hard it is? Ok. I have the guide for building a ccm and have developed a design for a mold. Not that tough. just do what everyone else does and reverse engineer an existing helmet, change a few things to get away from the patent and bingo your in buisness. everyone is doing it. look at all the helmets out there competing for a small market. You simply cannot get enough market share to reduce your margin. Problem is I am just too damn lazy to make my own
