  1. FFF is getting married???? Why, what's he being punished for? It couldn't have been THAT bad.
  2. does FFF know he's not logged in under his PW name, or am I too dense for the joke?
  3. Shouldn't we have the paratrak installed if the picture is going on the website?
  4. Someone said that they wouldn't say something if they saw someone's mistake because they didn't feel they had enough jumps...PLEASE CHANGE YOUR MIND. I understand that people are stupid and some are eventually going to end up killing themselves by accident, but some people really do care about safety and would even buy you a beer in gratitude for pointing out something like that. I made the mistake once when I was new, and it'll always stick with me the feeling of looking down to see what I had done after someone pointed it out to me. With all the details that can not be overlooked, it's good to know you've got friends out there just in case. Don't get me wrong, this sport is PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY bottom line. But if every minor mistake ended with someone's death we'd all be flat eventually. Moral of my story: Don't spank it in, and don't let anyone else either.
  5. I would suggest going into a head down possition...but sometimes your JM's make you repeat a level if you cork out of it so it can be risky.
  6. The question shouldn't be "how much" if you have to ask, it's too much. Just wait until the credit card bill comes in the bill. What would the credit card company think if they saw STINGER MISSLE AND FULL GAS TANKER on the list of purchases?
  7. I pledge alligence, to the plane, that takes me above the clouds. And to the ripcord, for which it opens, my body, under canopy, until I land, to buy a round for all.
  8. I just want to keep this thread alive. Let's see that picture! Kris
  9. I surf. I'm open to other stuff too, but the only other place I feel at home besides the sky, is on a board surrounded by waves. Skydiving is gravity powered. Surf is ocean powered. Ocean is powered by the pull of the moon (and some other stuff but whatever), and that pull is gravity. I think gravity is good.
  10. Their FF speeds would match RW speeds for us norms, so 3D hybrid dives would be no problem!
  11. This new charter company...it wouldn't happen to need a recently graduated Aerospace Engineer, would it? How about a guy to push the drink carts down the aisle for your customers, I'm sure they get thirsty. And if the plane is ever over weight and you need to throw out extra luggage, you can throw ME instead of the passenger's stuff...always a bonus with the clients! : ) Congrats, and you are my new hero! VivaRetirement!
  12. In order to justify buying that thing, I think I'd have to do an intentional cut away once a month or so. Or maybe attach it to the wind tester thrown out on the first load that we you don't have to make a new one.. Just think, it could pay for itself in only 2 or 3 years! : )

    Sabre 2

I've been jumping for about 3 years with 240 jumps. Most of my jumps have been to get the most from my time in the air, and from my time on the particular canopy I had. I've spent many nights in the Perfect Spot listening and talking to Scott Miller and have tried to be cautious with my progression through canopy flying. I have just begun front riser landings (usually ending up high, but that tends to be intentional untill I have a permanant canopy to really learn from) over the last 40 jumps or so. Getting to my question. I liked my Spectre front riser attempts enough to say that when I get the money together, I'm going to get a Spectre. Do you think the Sabre2 would be a better choice? The reason I ask is because I used to borrow my friend's Triathalon and had trouble adjusting to the fact that I couldn't eat altitude no matter how hard I tried, and I was not confident enough to try a super low front riser turn onto final. Have you found the same thing with the Tri and would you compare that tendancy with the Spectre, or is it different?
  14. It's nice to see such a variety of sizes, and it seems like a lot of people have chosen their main wisely. I have nothing against small canopies, and hope to have a hankerchief of my own some day when I'm able, but safety is the sign of a great skydiver and I'd be glad to jump with any one of you! : )
  15. Vector3 will add a spectre150 and PD143R soon enough

    Misc BS

If I ever do team jumping, tell his 6 year old sister she'll have a job as a packer! : ) Jump like your life depends on it!
  17. Florida is a great place to start. More DZ's per square inch than anywhere in the U.S. Perhaps start with Z-Hills, work your way over to Deland and the Relative Works School of Freeflight (my favorite!), stop by Space Center, some Sabastian, then down to Olav's place, and end up in the Keys. A lot of driving, but think about the well rounded education you'd get out there! So many award winning styles just waiting to mold you. Every spring break there was always a group or two that would do it and I can't stress how much fun it was just listening to the stories and watching the videos. Makes me wish I had had the money to try it one year. Oh well, I'll get a job out here and head back there for a reunion trip some year maybe. Blue Skies VHD
  18. And it's nice to see a Brit who's humor isn't too dry. Cheers!
  19. I think with an endorsment like Skreamer's, Emma should think about adding a picture of herself to her bio...you know, for educational purposes (or something like that) : )
  20. I've tried out a lot of different types of canopies and from a packing standpoint, the Triathalon is one of the easiest. The material doesn't hold air like a true zero-p so this is the best time to learn propacking! Have fun!
  21. My name is Kris Reynolds and I finally finished 4 years of college to become.... dun dun duuuunnn.. an AEROSPACE ENGINEER!!! (anybody want to hire me???) I grew up in SoCal, starting jumping in Florida during college and have 240 jumps, but am seeking employment back in Southern California. Beware for those at a DZ within a hundred miles of here...I will get a job, I will get a paycheck, and I will be freeflying in airspace near you! Wanna play?
  22. I don't know what I'd call us before the sunset load, but after it we've been called drunk!
  23. my FT-50 always reads 8K on the comercial flights. : ) ...you'd rather check your state-of-the-art laptop before you ever let those baggage monkeys touch your rig. ...you've ever jumped onto the ground in an arch thinking that the visual would make any sort of difference when describing your latest jumps to a whuffo
  24. Plenty of people, new or experienced, will FF in a fullfaced helmut no problem. I hear that it's easy to hear your dyttr in those things. I've always jumped a bonehead and have one of the older versions where the pro-dytter is mounted on the inside and it took me a while to get used to hearing it. It's sorta quiet, but not once you become accustomed to the timing and the volume. I hear the new ones with the pouch on the outside are also pretty quiet, but again, it's just something you have to get used to over a couple jumps.
  25. I'll even admit, this will be my FIRST time, now please open the door. : )
