The problem with micro tables is that there are a lot of smart poker players who just don't want to risk losing much, and there are a lot of bad players who suck through to the river and never fold. It's a good learning experience but don't play micro tables very long or else you won't learn good poker. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I think it's the complete opposite; that it's done so that the person can try to fit in and look like they have hair. If they didn't give a fuck then they wouldn't try to hide the balding. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Choose a side (motorist suing dead cyclist's family)
DJL replied to waltappel's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm assuming there are local laws that required to cyclist to wear a helmet and have reflective clothing and or lights at night. The wording of the article leads me to believe that *both* the motorist and cyclist were considered to be at fault. Since the family got a settlement from the driver's insurance company, he's probably going after the family becaused he thinks he was not solely at fault and is pissed off and wants to "teach them a lesson". I'd like to see an example made of *both* of them if for no other reason to raise awareness of the potential consequences of stupidity on the part of motorists, cyclists, and parents. Walt That's kind of a stretch of an assumption. Was it a crossing situation? Was the bike stopped in the road? It was at night but there wasn't any mention of headlights. Also this was Spain. Things are pretty slack in Spain. In my highly regulated state of VA the reflective clothing is only recommended. A helmet wouldn't have anything to do with causing the collision. I think those lines was just sideline adjectives and don't bear on anything legal. I'm not leaving it to a reporter to makes sense of it, how often do they get any (like skydiving) accident right? What do YOU do with your old parachutists?

They don't say if either was actually at fault and in fact say that Delgado's speed was a contributing factor. So, I don't see how he's justified. Next going after the family (not the insurance) is just sick. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -

What do YOU do with your old parachutists?
DJL replied to Unstable's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Based, on the responses I think you're right. Some people keep them around as relics with old stories, to look at that shitty gear and think "man, they used to jump that shit?", some leave them by the bonfire and eventually they get tossed, some people don't even look at them because "Skydiver" is much more modern and stylish than "Parachutist". It won't be an issue if you're really interested in her. You'll be surprised at how quickly you learn to communicate if you try. The only real thing to get over is that people naturally feel awkward and frustrated when they have trouble expressing their point. Try talking to her over email and instant message at first. Calgary man denied courthouse entry for wearing kirpan
DJL replied to Richards's topic in Speakers Corner
A kirpan is more like a knife shaped decoration than anything but this guy has to understand how it's taken. I'm chatting up a Sikh friend of mind who doesn't workshops for the cops and FBI on things just like this. From what I remember, he said that leaving the kirpan at home isn't any big deal, but forcing a Sikh out of his turban is. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -
I think I could have fun with that. I'm at the bar at the airport building up a nice tab. I think if I found a fedex uniform I would just go up to random groups of women and say, "Hi, I'm here with your....package" and commence with a strip routine. Come pick me up at the airport. Save a plate of enchiladas. The funny half of that is that I've had enchiladas for lunch for the last four days.
