  1. It gets me sometimes to. We are fixing that in the next two weeks. We are getting our own video room, and there will be a tv in the hanger that will show the edits there (both realtime and we will have a dvd player in there). I'm seeing the same thing there as well. I think that for next season we will just price it with the dvd included. Right now we give them to option to upgrade to dvd.... I haven't made up my mind if I want to offer a discount for vhs of just not offer it at all. Pendejo He who swoops the ditch and does not get out buys the BEER!!
  2. We do all ours while they wait. They watch it as we do the edit. Its done like Zee described. Pendejo He who swoops the ditch and does not get out buys the BEER!!
  3. Dude.... I burned that footage.... It was corrupting all my other footage

  5. Ouch..... Point taken. (But then you know that I didn't list all the chemicals necessary in my post now don't you...) Pendejo He who swoops the ditch and does not get out buys the BEER!!
  6. You are exactly right. The general population creates over 4 times as much hazardous waste as industry does. The real kicker is that the EPA will classify it all "exempt" from RICRA and it almost ALL goes into a non-hazardous land fill. Its a shame that we all (or at least most) get caught up in what the media deems important. Global warming IS a big deal, but if we don't change what we are doing to the ground and water I don't think it will be our biggest problem in the future. There are a lot of people at the EPA that are doing the best they can with the rules that are in place. The problem is (IMHO) that the rules are flawed. As an example, you can't throw away a bottle of white out (in an industrial setting) unless you dispose of it as hazardous waste yet it is acceptable to discharge water into the environment that has a Ph of 2.1. Thats the goofieness that goes on on the industrial side. As a private citizen you can throw almost anything in the trash and it is legal.... Now thats nuts... As for the discussion about china. Look at the state of the American river system around 1970. I think you will see the same thing in china a few years from now. Pendejo He who swoops the ditch and does not get out buys the BEER!!
  7. Guess who the largest source of hazardous waste pollution is in the United States of America (no don't look it up, just guess). Anyone? Pendejo He who swoops the ditch and does not get out buys the BEER!!

  9. It seems that the terrorist assholes are looking for the maximum publicity as well as body count. There was an incident in South Carolina where 3 Chlorine rail cars were derailed. The loss of life was surprising low (although 1 is too many to lose). The cost to the environment was very high. Our chief pilot flew over the area about a month after it happened, and said you could see exactly which way the wind was blowing on the day it happened (from all the dead vegetation). I'm somewhat hesitant to give an example..... But I'll give one that is kind of a lower level compared to what really could be used in an attack to explain why I say that trucks are a greater threat. Keep in mind that if you look up the DOT reg's in the 49 CFR that you will find that in most cities only restrict explosives to the outer routes not haz-mat trucks (gas, and some grocery products are actually haz-mat items when shipped). Also keep in mind that a terrorist will probably not play by the DOT rules regarding placards. Take your average copper cyanide electroplater. That electroplater will ship between 100 and 9,000 gallons per month of Copper cyanide plating waste (made from 70% potassium cyanide). An average tanker can hold 4500 gallons of that material. Now introduce hydrochloric acid into that tanker.... Guess what that makes... I'll give you a hint.... It’s been used in gas chambers.... All ya need then is a little wind.... and HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!! Most of the haz-mat trucks have gps on them now. But there is nothing that says that it could not be easily disconnected. And that truly is an example of a LOWER level threat compared to what is shipped every day across the road. Pendejo He who swoops the ditch and does not get out buys the BEER!!
  10. So will it go in the BSR's or will it just be in the general recommendations. I'm kinda confused as to where they are going to put it. The section that is listed in the original post is the general recommendations, not the basic safety requirements (although it is possible that I am just being stupid and not understanding what I'm reading). 11. I'm curious, where does this step leave the DZO? If a jumper comes to the dz, having a B license, makes a skydive and his WL is at 1.3/1, said jumper makes a low turn to avoid another canopy (or what ever example you want to use that is not a HP landing) and pounds themself into the ground. Is the DZO now at greater risk of losing a lawsuit because the governing body of skydiving put up a wingloading chart and this jumper was over that number and the DZO still let them jump? 13. This is very accurate. There "might" be an exception here and there but as a rule the rail yards are quite secure. We ship around 780 rail cars per month of sulfuric acid, in order for me to be able to do any inspections I had to go through more than one class and have an id card for each rail company I go to. Lawrocket's post is on the money. They do the shit at the airports because its two things. 1.) Its very easy to control, because you can control who goes where and how they get to what part of the airport. 2.) Its very high profile. They can show the public "see we are taking steps." The reality is that (IMO) we are not really any safer (other than at the airports) than we were before. But I really doubt we are in any more danger than we were before either. I think there will always be a nut job somewhere that wants to kill someone for some reason or another. But the bottom line is that we live in a huge country and it would not be possible to "protect" it all the way they would have you believe it is. Please don't take what I have said as me believing that we should not be trying to protect ourselves better, and I also believe in what we are doing overseas... I just don't like it when they (and that would be both the administration and the media) sell the public that these guys are a bunch of un-educated, under funded morons.... Lets not forget that they put together a plan that not only took over those airliners at the same time, but they also learned to fly a jet airliner well enough to hit buildings. We should remember that when we are watching them on (insert news service here) and seeing them live like animals.... They are far from it.... And they are highly motivated.... 14. While I agree that the containers are a threat, I think Funjumper101 is correct that the trucking industry would pose a much greater threat. I do environmental engineering for a living, and there are many things that get shipped every day across our roadways that are much more dangerous to the general public than a airliner filled with fuel or a cargo container filled with explosives. 15. Rick, Get with Joe Reid. I think he said he had a Shamu that he found. He also has a raft he wants to jump this year! Pendejo He who swoops the ditch and does not get out buys the BEER!!
  16. OK..... Lets substitute the word Spectre for Crossfire. I guess that would depend on your definition of "instant." I have yet to see a person just off student status (and yes I realize that only having 7 years in the sport pales to a lot of jumpers) cut away anywhere near what I would call instant. I only have 3 reserve rides. Two of those rides were with a camera on my head. Its interesting that what I thought was instant when I cut away turned out to be around 2 seconds from opening to cut away. I guess that when I have 4000 skydives and 20 years in the sport I will be able to recognize a malfunction and cut away in the blink of an eye.... But at 7 years and only 1800 skydives it takes me around 2 seconds. So do you think that people who are just off student status should be breaking off at 3500ft or are you just picking apart the example I used? 17. The good news is that you are right.... It would have been very sad if most of the responses had gone the other way. Its hard for me to understand how someone would feel otherwise. Given that my canopy (and many others) take 800ft to open on a regular basis, if I were to still pull at 2000ft or even 2500ft, I would be starting out in the basement from the beginning.... Now add in that fact that it might be one of the newer jumpers that is under a crossfire (that still takes around 800ft to open) with a little slower reaction time to the malfunction, and what you have is a recipe for disaster. The point of my post was to remind some of us "old timers" (not... 7 to 10 years does NOT make anyone an old timer IMO in this sport) that many of those with less jumps come from a different train of thought..... If I were still jumping my saber 1 and were still getting out at 8500 from a cessna I would still be pulling at 2000ft, but even then I would not give anyone a hard time for wanting to break a little higher than normal... But jumping my Katana and getting out at 13,500ft I don't see the need to pull at 2000ft anymore... Call me crazy, but I like having the extra time to deal with any problems that might arise. 18. I agree with you about the static line thing..... Thats how I learned and it was common for a lot of us to pull at 2000ft. We were jumping from 182's at 8500ft. What I took exception to was the poster condemning someone for wanting to pull higher. I have on more than 1 occasion witnessed a person taking 1000 to 1500 feet to recognize, cut away, and get a good reserve above their head. At the DZ where I jump we mostly break off at 4500ft. It seems silly to me to spend the last 3 or 4 seconds watching a low timer being scared so we can get that extra point on the skydive.... 19. I'm aware of what the S.I.M. says... In another forum there was a post regarding a jumper being upset when someone who has recently graduated student status (yes I am cleaning up what was said a little) wants to break a 4-way at 5000ft. I'm curious if this is what most students face when they graduate or is this just a single case. Pendejo He who swoops the ditch and does not get out buys the BEER!!

  22. So can I get in on that 8-way thing you guys did last year???? (good thing Jack doesn't read this)
  23. HA.... HA..... HA.... Is this the part where the greenies are supposed to kick me off DZ.COM?!?!?!?!?!?!?! You two just bring out the best in me.... (edited to remove that part where I tell Ganja to kiss my ass) Pendejo He who swoops the ditch and does not get out buys the BEER!!
  24. ***Pendejo....no bashing intended. Just a note of concern.*** No problem.... We look forward to seeing you at the boogie!! I promise that this year will be even better than last year!!!! Pendejo He who swoops the ditch and does not get out buys the BEER!!
  25. Not to be like my name would imply.... But if you won't jump a King Air and you won't jump a Casa.... What would we need to bring in that would be ok for us to jump? No... I do NOT want this to turn into a bash so and so or anything like that.... I'm just kind of curious why our flying a King Air that was taken to CSS and ran through their shop would prevent you from coming and jumping the Casa and having fun with us at the boogie?
