Read the post properly. Or did you skip that bit just to give me shit.If You go xbraced unless you WL is at least 2 and then I find this. Im trying to find out the truth not just you wont get any extra performance unless you load it at WL 2 or more which according to this chick is bullshit. No Im not trying to justify a xbraced for me. Get ya facts straight.

Hey Im not trying to get a Xbraced canopy its a question. When a manafacturer says 500 jumps wouldnt it make you curious. But if the answer was yeah 500 jumps is ample experience wouldnt you want to know more about it. I have already said Im sticking with the 139 for another couple of 100 jumps. Well if all im going to get is ragged well F#### the forums. I take on board what you have said and still get shit. Nice work !

Hi Guys Im throwing anotherques out there. I have decided on getting a katana 120 WL 1.85 with advice from this forum, but have read since read that the min recomended jumps for a Xaos is 500 ram air jumps and min rec WL 1.8 so is there any reasons why I should not have concidered a xaos 118? I am getting comments from the good swoopers at my DZ that my landings are really nice.katana is still my choice at this stage but had not concidered the Xaos as an option. So please tell me if xaos 118 at WL 1.85 is a good or bad idea and why with a min 500 achieved. Distance in swooping is what Im after. Im cool with getting the katana if you guys can tell me why a xaos 118 is a bad option. Cheers

Just my 2c worth but why bother with an inferior canopy with a very poor flare and short recovery arc when you would get a s**t load more fun from a xfire at that WL 1.4 Thats what my first xfire was loaded at ,Well 1.5 and it was the best choice that I mede. They swoop heaps farther and when you downsize its with the same model canopy

If its the best then thats fine. I waited 9 months for my Jav. Not happy about the time but its like sitting in an armchair under canopy, and if I want to spiral like a demon for fun the legstraps dont hurt one bit. The Curve sounds like bomb

icaros crossfire VS neos VS Katana
daleskydive replied to gilead1's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
How about a JFX or Xaos. I have not jumped either but hear they open nice and soft -
Thanks again for your imput. I dont think I will have an opportunity to try a curve on but if everone that has says they wish that they had one its good enough for me. If it is as good as a jav under canopy them Im sold. Please answer this one last ques. Do your Javs have the extra padding and if they do and the curve is better in comfort under canopy then that is what I will get. Thanks Dale

wow thats excessive at my DZ we can start using the frount risers as soon as we feel comfortable with the idea. Not only for swooping but it can come in handy for getting your accuracy's to get more drive in wind.

1.6 WL on xbrace canopy.
daleskydive replied to daleskydive's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Just throwing this question out there. i saw a youtube video where a girl had her velocity loaded at 1.6 and she was getting massive swoops compared to a conventional 9 cell. Mabey this was due to much more usable canopy over her head due to less distortion from xbracing. if all she wants is a longer terf surf than a standard cell whats wrong with that ? -
Hi piisfish, you remarks on the Voodoo curve have really interested me. With the extra padding is it as comfortable under canopy as a Jav with the padding and the extra webbing under the shoulder straps, does it mean that the shouldr straps that contain the risers dont seat right on your shoulders and how does that go with flying head down. I dont really understand why the rig doesnt fit nicely without the extra webbing. Are you a freeflyer. AND does the main closing toung on the main have plenty of length going into the slot holding it. Just making sure that its highly unlikely that the main closing flap could get dislodged and expose the closing pin. How would a freefly pud on the pilot chute go as far as the design of the BOC pocket. Cheers for your insight.Im so gratefull for your response. Thankyou PS Im not in a position to try on a curve as I dont know anybody with a voodoo especially a curve so I have to make my decision without being able to try one on.I would have been sold on the idea if the people who had tried the rig on at the expo had actually worn it in freefall. At this stage you are my deciding factor.
-
Dont you think your a bit greedy owning six rigs. JOKING, half you luck . Thanks for your imput. At this stage its between a Jav and Curve. Now is the curve really like sitting in an armchair under canopy because my Jav is.

Thanks for your imput Squeek. Am curious to why you prefer the V3 ?
-
Yeah the main closing loop is a bit of a pain the way it is set up but if you make sure that the lines are seated in the bottom of the main tray and are carefull to drag the excess line toward the bottom when placing the D bag in the tray its all good. I hav'nt had one linetwist since taking the extra care. Thankyou for the links especially the one where the Res doesnt make it out of the tray.
-
So you have tried their rig on?
-
Has anyone had both a custom made Jav and Vector made for them that can comment on how the two compared in fit and comfort.I need a new container and like the look of the V3 micron BUT my custom Jav is vastly superior in comfort to any V3 that I have tried on. Yes, I realise that the Jav was made for me and none of the Microns were. Its just the difference in comfort was so great and I dont want to spend $3000 on a container that does'nt cut the mustard in the comfort and fit depatment.

Just got my 2nd V2 as well GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

which digital alti is best
daleskydive replied to daleskydive's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
The N3 also sounds like a good option. Are you able to have it on the inside of your wrist. I wear two audiables in my helmet for free fly so dont really use the wrist alti in freefall and its not hard to look on the inside of the wrist anyway.I use optima 2 and protrack so the chance of both failing at the same time is pretty slim -

Im into swooping ( not competition but would like to have a go one day)but only have a couple of guys at my DZ into it. I have an optima but a an analouge wrist alti (not good enough)and want to make sure I get the right digital wrist alti that can be moved to the inside of my wrist. Looking forward to some good advice.Cheers -
Old fart wants to downsize!

Yes DrewEckhardt you are right. I retract my comment about going straight to the 170. A similar sized eliptical would be the smarter option. Then assess from there. -

I think that if you 2500 jumps its not too big a jump at all. Its hard to tell the difference between a 210 and 190 so I would say go the 170 and see how you feel about it.I have owned a stiletto 170 and got rid of because of the openings. Had a couple of very hard ones. The Crossfire 2 opens nice and softly in 400 to 600 feet and to date after 100s of jumps on them have never had a full line twist or hard opening. They have a long control range on toggle and have an amazing flare, plenty of bottom end.Icarus make a 169 but will custom make whatever size you want.Im pretty sure icarus recomend a WL of 1.4 to have it perform which is what I loaded my first one at and it was awesome.PS Im sporting some old non skydiving related injuries( bad neck, back and leg) and the crossfire 2 has served me well.I hope this info helps. -
I dont know about a madatory canopy course for renewing you licence. It seems a bit over the top. I you have a couple of mandatory canopy control courses ,then once done and achieved you already have the knowledge and skills. Im not a fan of more and more rules. Wouldnt it be better to try and make an attitude at the DZ that doing a canopy control or swooping course a cool thing to do.

katana 120 VS crossfire 2 119 ??
daleskydive replied to hhhyyrt's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well nolan358, I hope you feel big. You have just shown your true character for everyone to see. If you were an instructor, you would be the guy to berate a student in front of everyone for a mistake instead of quietly taking them aside so they didnt feel embarassed. I would rather feel a bit silly than do what you have just done. Congratulations
