  1. Finally got to jump today but still didn't accomplish the goals for AFF 3 . I have to repeat it again . This time everything was great but I forgot to keep my legs out even when my instructors gave me the leg signal. I would keep it out, but then bring it back in. Consequently, the instructors couldn't let go of me so I have to do it again. It's frustrating, but I will get there. At least I got back in the sky again today. My goal is still to get my "A" by summer, but we'll see.
  2. Thanks for the good wishes. Did a bit of refresher training today but wasn't able to do my AFF3 dive today due to wonky winds. I will try again tomorrow.
  3. thanks, the both of you. I'll be safe. Actually, I think I am going to be a bit rusty when I jump. I just hope I don't fear my landings (because that was how I hurt myself). Weather might not be good for jumping this weekend though, from what I heard. I still have a chance at getting my "A" license by summer.
  4. and I can jump again and continue with AFF. I am sooo stoked. I am gonna try to jump sometime this weekend, if not, definitely next week. Been sooo busy with life lately that it's been hard to find time to be able to fit in a doc recheck appt. I miss being up in the sky sooo much
  5. Thanks. I have NOT learned to pack yet . I inquired about taking a packing class at the DZ but they want me to wait a few more weeks so my foot can heal up a bit more (since learning to pack requires a lot of being on my feet, it seems). So, I will have to wait. As it gets closer to my target date, I might arrange to get some tunnel time in so I am less rusty when I do get back in the air. I am going up to the DZ tomorrow because there is some kind of party thing going on this weekend (tomorrow night is the costume party), and I have the perfect costume for it. Even though I am not jumping, I actually am enjoying the social aspect of it all.
  6. I have set a target date to get back into jumping. I am looking to jump on my bday (which is towards the end of April). By that time, I should have about 8 weeks of healing, which should be good enough. Went to the doc this week and the foot is doing ok. Have to be in my air cast for another 3 weeks and then see what happens. I have been going down to the DZ and hanging out on the weekends. Been having a lot of fun and started to make some friends. Can't wait to continue my journey.
  7. AFF is fun. I think everybody has their own rate of advancement. Some do AFF quicker than others. I'm a newbie. I just started AFF about a month ago. I'm stuck on level 3 right now. I'm a bit of a slow learner. Good luck and have fun out there.
  8. I'm a newbie like you, but I agree with the others. It is best to talk to the instructors that jumped with you, about your concerns with flaring. I've come to learn that if one is confused with flaring and has issues with it, it can cause you to get hurt. Good luck. When are you jumping again?
  9. Sorry to hear about your shoulder. I hope you are able to jump again soon. Thanks for the good wishes.
  10. Thanks! Kind of. I really want to heal before 2 months.
  11. have fun and good luck with knocking out the levels. I can't wait till I can be up in the sky again.
  12. For those of you who have sprained an ankle/foot, did you find that you healed a lot faster than what the doc predicted? Also, did you have a hard cast or just a soft cast with a walking boot? The doc is telling me I cant do any sports for 2 months because I majorly sprained one of the ligaments on my foot. I have a "soft" cast and a walking boot. It is a major PIA to walk with crutches.
  13. Forgive me for being a n00b, but don't most skydivers update their logbooks after every jump? I know, as a student jumper, after every jump, my instructors fill out my logbook.
  14. Well after talking to someone at the DZ, I agree, it is better for me to wait till I am completely healed before I even do anything skydiving related, including tunnel time. I understand, even though I am sad about it. I guess hanging out out at the DZ and learning and having fun is not a bad alternative either. I wish I wasn't so impatient
  15. Agentsmith, you are right, waiting it out will help insure that I can jump injury free. Did you go and hang out at the DZ while you were injured? Someone did mention to me that if I have an "air cast" on, which my "boot" could be considered that, that I may be able to get some tunnel time in. I hope that is the case since that would really make my day. I won't jump though in the time being, just hang loose and see what happens.
  16. DocPop, yeah, I'm smart, and the practical side of me knows I probably shouldn't jump and let my foot heal up. Actually, the podiatrist wanted to put a hard cast on me today but I convinced him not to (since with a hard cast, I wouldn't be able to drive and that would REALLY suck). I know if I push my limits, it could mean that I take more than 2 months to heal and/or I will need surgery. That would suck more. I will try to learn as much as I can while I am grounded. And I will have fun too. I wish life didn't have to be so practical most of the time.
  17. You're probably right. I jump out in CA, so the weather is great out here most of the year (besides the rain we get every so often) I guess I will just hang out at the DZ on the weekends I can and see what I can learn. I would love to learn how to pack (aka take a packing class) but not sure since I so low level, if I can do that.
  18. At my DZ, I was told to wait till I got my "A" license before getting my own jumpsuit. Like you, I wanted to get a jumpsuit too (mainly because the jumpsuits at the school were too long on me), since I am really short. I think my first purchase will be goggles though. I like having my own pair of goggles.
  19. I'm the crazy one who like to push "limits". I'm also quite stubborn. Eh, I dunno. I guess I will ask at the DZ what my possibilities are. Otherwise, I'll just stay grounded and try to learn some things.
  20. Ghost47, the soft cast really isn't anything. They wrapped my foot up in some plaster wrapping that will harden a bit but will give me the mobility to still drive and move around. I have a "boot" to put on over the soft cast so I can move. I also have a shoe thingie to put on over the soft cast when I drive (can't wear the boot when driving), so I could potentially jump with the soft cast and shoe thingie. Two months is a pain, esp when I am on a roll and I want to keep current.
  21. About 10 days ago, I was doing my AFF 3 jump and when I landed, I didn't PLF correctly and landed on my right foot and rolled it. Since it was still hurting I went to the podiatrist today and they put me in a soft cast with a boot (so I can drive). Most of my landings have been butt landings.
  22. I was doing a bit of a search on here to look up if people have jumped with a "soft" cast on, and it seems people have. That puts a thought in my head, CAN you jump with a "soft" cast? My boot is removable and I have a smaller boot I wear to drive. The cast is not some heavy plaster thing.
  23. That's cool. At least I can still learn on the ground, vs in the sky. It's all good. Hopefully I will be better BEFORE 2 months, that would be great.
