I ordered a Viper too. But I ordered it in late February, so I have to wait... I took cordura as well.. Anyway I'm happy, that it seems, that I have ordered a really good rig.
-
I ordered mine at the beginning of march. Last week my rigger told me, that I have to wait till early June for delivery. I'm a bit disappointed but that's life. It'll be my first rig...

Inverted airplane spin in Santiago - video...

Had this once. Takeoff, about 30 seconds after the takeoff the pilot says "sh*t!" --> turns towards us and says "everything's ok!" (that was great!! -
I know that it depends. But this way I can get some kind of overview.

Hi! the topic sounds quite materialistic, but what do you get for being an Instructor? Is it just the satisfaction to teach students or do you get paid by your drop-zone? Do you have to pay for your jumps with students, do you have to pay for your fun-jumps at the same drop zone? ... I don't mean tandem instructors but AFF instructors.

I don't understand that either. Wingload should be around 1.05 for the main and 1.4 for the reserve. Skill level: as mentioned. Just licensed for civilian jumping and some military jumps (T10).

Hi! a friend of mine just told me, that he ordered a new rig with a 130 sqft reserve parachute (main: 170 sqft). Thing is, he only has about 50 jumps on a civilian parachute and about 100 military jumps (that round parachute). And his exit-weight should be near the maximum allowed weight for this reserve! Do you think it is safe / ok to jump a 130 sqft reserve with so little experience? And what do you think about the dealer, who sells that?

Hi! I do not want to discuss second hand rigs. It seems to be impossible to find second hand rigs in Germany that are not way to expensive. So I'm also happy with a new one. Question still is, if there are any freefly-features that prevent the rig from being used as a wingsuit-rig. Throw-out: of course RSL/Skyhook: Maybe, i'm not really sure about that. Do I need it for wingsuits? Freefly-handle: would be good for freeflying but for wingsuit? But thats a thing that could be changed later. AAD: of course leg-strap-bungee: what's that?

Hi! I'm looking for a new gear. I'm pretty sure about the main- and reserve canopy. What I haven't decided yet is the container. I want to start (after learning to belly-fly) with freeflying and then maybe try a wingsuit. Is there anything special, I need to consider when buying the container? Is there any model / manufacturer, that is better than the rest? If I look at the gear-review, all containers seem to be ok/good. If there is no special recommendation, I would prefer a German manufacturer, because of easier and maybe faster shipping (or getting replacements parts), because I am from Germany.

You're reading this wrong. I never said I want to self import. PiLFy started this by naming the classifieds. This would be an option, if I had the chance to see that gear first.... Than he added his vision about me flying to Florida. There I said, I will not buy a rig there cause its too expensive. Than he wanted to know why there are so many Europeans using US-manufactured gear. So I explained. But I thing this topic is over now. It's NOT cheap and easy to import a gear. It's way cheaper to buy it here So any other opinion about freeflying and wingsuit flying with the same gear?

Well, buying US-Gear in Germany is ok. For example: I buy these parts in the US (just a random online-store - no names!): Icarus Safire2: 1905 $ Icarus Reserve: 1280 $ Icon Sport: 2200 $ Cypres2: 1475 $ Total: 6860 $ which is 4900 € (at 1.4$ = 1€). To that I have to add 4.7% import tax (+230 €). To that subtotal (4900 + 230 €) = 5130 € I have to add 19% sales tax. So my total selfimport price is 6105 €. If I buy everything at a german store I have to pay 5848 €. Thats a lot more than the US price, but less as if I import the gear. -- Well, Teuge is not very close - i live in Bavaria. -- One of my questions is still unanswered: 3. Is there anything that contradicts freeflying and wingsuit-flying with the same container?
-
But I'll definitely not buy a new gear there! 'Cause even with a dollar-euro exchange rate of 1,40:1 a complete new gear is about 400 $ more expensive as if I buy it here (tax, shipping and so included).
-
Hi! well, importing a gear from the United States (or somewhere else) is not that easy. I have to pay about 25 % import tax, which makes importing not really cheap. Other thing is, I have no chance to try the gear first - just put it on to see if it fits and so. Sending it back if it doesn't fit is not really an option. Well, downsizing: I know, that I can't downsize fast or soon. If a buy a new container now I want to use it as long as possible (including the cypres and the reserve). I'm pretty sure I won't go to 135 sqft in the next 5 - 7 years. (maybe 10 years, maybe never). I don't think its very clever to buy a new gear now and have to sell it in a couple of years because the new canopy won't fit.

Hi! i'm very close to my license and now I'm looking for a new gear. First, it seems almost impossible to find a decent complete system with a 170sqft or 190 sqft main in Germany. Nothing available or, if you are lucky to find one, its way to expensive. Second option: Renting a system: Also way to expensive - in my opinion: About 25$ per jump (!) Third option: Buy a new rig: I think I have to do so. So, a new rig is quite expensive and therefore it should last long. Durability is no problem, but the size of the main canopy. Say, I start with a 170 sqft canopy. I can downsize to 150 and maybe 135 sqft and still use the same container/reserve, right? Only few selected canopys smaller than 135 will fit, right? So: How is flying a 135 sqft canopy? I have no idea, if I'll be happy with that or if I want do use a smaller one some time in the future. Only thing I'm very sure about is, that I won't do swooping. I prefer freeflying and after enough jumps, I want to try a wingsuit. My questions are: 1. How fast/agile is a 135 sqft canopy? (Maybe compared to a car where a 170sqft canopy is something like a Ford Focus or a Chevy Impala - strange comparison, i know ) 2. Using the same container with a 170 or 135 sqft canopy is no problem, is it? 3. Is there anything that contradicts freeflying and wingsuit-flying with the same container?

Hi! I looked at the Mirage sizing guide (link: http://www.miragesys.com/sizing-guide/ There it says: The 170 sqft Sabre2 (Volume: 364 cu.in) fits "optimal" in a M4-Container. The 150 sqft Sabre2 (Volume: 338 cu.in) fits "soft". So everything between 338 cu.in. and 364 cu.in. fits in a M4-Container . Is that right? So, an Icarus Extreme VX 109 sqft. has a volume of 348 cu.in. (but is not named in the M4-sizing chart) My question is: Could I replace the 170sqft Sabre2 with an Extreme VX 109 sqft and use the same container (and reserve)?

Well, ordering directly from Bonehead is difficult for me. 'cause shipping to Germany is nor really cheap and i have to pay tax and stuff. So it won't be cheaper than buying a bonehead helmet in Germany and it will definitely be more expensive than a crener helmet. So: Does anyone know these Crener helmets?
-
I thought about buying a helmet if it's cheaper than in Germany.
-
Hi! i know that there is a DZ in Dubai but does anyone know if there is also a dealer somewhere?
-
Hi! can anyone tell me anything about Crener helmets? I'm thinking about getting a Crener Ghost 2 but I can't find any reviews. So I have no idea if this helmet is any good. At least they are cheaper than Bonehead.. Does anyone know this manufacturer?
