    I received my copy of Skydiving on Saturday. The article reports that PD are waiting for an exemption to be approved by the FAA regarding placarding requirements.     I'm a little confused. Are you intending to wear this Video camera in freefall or not? I would recommend a Sony camera. You can find a used (discontinued) Sony PCxxx series camera at a good price. And most camera flyer/ skydivers are familiar with the sony brand if you ever need help/ tips.     Since all the police in this scenario are "undercover, plain cloths, unmarked vehicles" it's reasonable to assume that the driver didn't know they were police.

    Nope. You've got it backwards. Read pages 99- 105 of Brian Germain's The Parachute and It's Pilot 2/3 of the top/ bottom skin are slightly more "deformed" because they are tied to a physically loaded rib. The point of the bracing is to smooth out the normal "ballooning" between loaded ribs on conventional canopies. By introducing more ribs, flattening out the top and bottom skins is achieved; parasitic drag is reduced. See the attached Photo. The top and bottom skins are deformed in the same 'pattern'.     Not entirely brand new. Did you know that some of the ideas for large scale galactic formation were inspired by studying the formation of bubbles in beer foam? The Invisible Pink Unicorns live in an alternate universe. One good test would be to detect the gravity waves they use to communicate with Cloe. p.s.     Just following your lead on the importance of natural selection. Anyone who can't get out of a low lying area with a week's warning probably doesn't need to be in the gene pool. that statement is so fucked up I cant begin to say, It's a great example of a Strawman Argument and shows a poor understanding of Natural Selection. Natural Selection doesn't make value judgements about whom should or should not be "in the gene pool". It also doesn't specify what characteristics are "the fittest". To 'pass the test' of natural selection and survival of the fittest a species only needs to insure that their genes make it into successive future generations (i.e. have children, and grandchildren). The moral aspect of Royd's argument is a red herring. I've never been a fan of herring; salmon, tuna and walleye are better.

    I think the original reports said the raid occured at 7-7:30pm which is about 2 hours after sunset. The CNN report from Thursday had some additional information from the original story. http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/11/23/atlanta.shooting/ It's difficult to reconcile how the undercover narc's managed to buy from inside the residence of a woman who lived in such fear that she wouldn't open the door for her neighbors delivering groceries. It sounds like events transpired pretty quickly. Maybe if we took guns away from aging shut-ins, things like this wouldn't happen.
