So sick of the "you are beautiful" message...
oldwomanc6 replied to Nataly's topic in Speakers Corner
Without addressing anyone else's comment, my first thought was why do you consider beauty only physical? The physical aspect is only one, very fleeting aspect of the word. Even the most "beautiful" person in the world, won't be that for very long. Trust me, I know -- not because I was gorgeous, but what "beauty" I had is long gone, but, still most people find me attractive. I don't mean physically, because I truly am growing into my username, originally chosen as joke of sorts, but because they like being around me. Being content is much more attractive than being pretty, and generally "beautiful" people aren't content or happy, and then they are even less happy, because they eventually lose what little they had to hold on to. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9 -

Maybe it is a genetic thing, because I don't like real watermelon, but I like JollyRanchers watermelon candy. I'm not trying to be contrary, but this is true. . My kids give me no end of grief for this. Mr.owc6 knows better than to do so. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

Coconut? In my teenage years I learned to associate that smell with bikini-clad babes lying on towels at the beach. I love the smell of girls roasting in the sun!

That was my experience, as well. Horrible texture coupled with the fact that I grew up in So. Cal., where they are garden pests, make them very unattractive. Don’t see them as pests, more as readily available free protein. Starve them for a few days and then give the lettuce until you’re ready to cook them. If you’re gentle with the cooking and can make garlic butter they’re as good as any in a restaurant but much, much cheaper. I guess I didn't make it clear enough; the ones I had were in a restaurant, not plucked from the back yard. I get the concept, but they are just yuck! There are some things that are just viscerally revolting; snails are one of such a thing. Oysters, and the smell of coconut are two others for me. There is nothing you can do to change this. Maybe there is a gene that determines this like there is for those who think cilantro tastes like soap? lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

Is there anyone here who has not gone skydiving?
oldwomanc6 replied to brendhanbb's topic in The Bonfire
There are plenty . I think it took promise5 5 years before she leaped. So what is your point? i just wanted to know if anyone else on here was in the same boat as me. I apologize if I came off as brusque. Everybody's welcome here; there is no requirement to be a jumper on this forum. We mostly talk about non-jumping things in BF, anyway. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9 -

I'd imagine she's working her tukus off right now. Hopefully she is safe and helping others, and when she has a thought to spare for us, she will let us know that she is ok. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

I am confused as well. I always thought they were something that looked like a flip-phone . and were untraceable, because you paid cash and no ID was associated with it. Dang, my spy career is evidently over before it began. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

I just paid $3.12/gal. for 93 octane. I have no idea what low test is. Only way to get ethanol-free here is to go to marinas. MD has no other choice. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

Absolutely, I don't do electric. I know two things about electric - it's magic and it can kill you. There's people who went to school for it and I ain't one of them. That's for sure: it's F.M. I do know one more thing on the subject; if you mix plumbing and electrical work, it's a sure-fired way for disaster. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

Very little could be that fun and awesome, but I'll play: Passport services will shave off that bump on your nose that you always took grief from your siblings about, so you can send them selfies from the Med. Come to think of it, Concrete rebound hammer could do so, as well. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
