  1. Cool Thanks for sharing DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  2. Please enlighten us DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  3. musta been before 2010 then, as this year is the same as last. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  4. I believe it USED to say that you had to be coach or above, OR a 'D' license with approval from the S&TA. They changed it a year or so ago, iirc I recalled correctly because I had my 2011 SIM in front of me.. here it is word for word: you can get a FREE .pdf of the 2011 SIM at the USPA website and there is an App in the iphone store (don't know about droid) DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  5. how about a history of the same 'malf' happening and then factor in the way that Aviacom handled things. "bans" = precaution based on history and then available facts Aviacoms actions through the whole mess, going back to at least the Poland incident = unacceptable and unprofessional DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  6. EDIT: I moved this to it's own thread as the conversation has drifted away from the intent of the original thread. Please use this thread to discuss this issue and the other one for SB's and updates to the ban list. Looks like they're claiming FOD* caused the failure according to the email I got this AM from Karel *FOD: foriegn object damage. In this case a steel shot pellet. Id post the rest, but am using my ifone. Still doesnt excuse Aviacoms actions (or lack thereof) DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  7. I think it's a crock of crap myself. I 'grew up' under the watchful eye of world class and even olympic skydivers. I've seen more and more requirements placed on everyone and yet more problems arise As a D, I can't even pay that forward until I get my Coach rating now (which I'll do this summer) I saw no problems with SIM 2-1-E-6a/b. Most D-license holders probably have more experience than the average "coach" anyway (ref..6b) the only difference is not having been indoctrinated into the USPA teaching methods, which if the real reason they're doing this, is because students need to be taught things they aren't doing (or not doing right), sounds like the system is failing itself. I think frank, et.al, are just playing CYA (1st), show me the money (2nd) because they are tied together. but thats' my speculation, the communication out there sucks; leaving people to come up with their own reasons why things are being done. all that said, most all the fun jumpers out there look after each other and try and push through all the BS from the DZO. If it wasn't for the people (fun jumpers) and the convenient location, most wouldn't be there. The opening of Empire will be interesting (30 April) DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  8. sounds like the rig is too big for you. did you buy it new or used? I've seen this a bit on demo rigs, where you don't have too much control. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  9. never mind.. found the problem DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  10. I didnt realize all that was going on.... I was on load 2, got back, packed and got on the next available slot.......LOAD 11 !!!!! Wth??? They should announce ahead of time if the USAFA is going to be there and monopolize the loads. 3-4 tandems (w/o video(6-8), + 4 WOB = 1-3 fun jumpers/load Kicking someone off for "competing" with the dz??? Competing with what? No one there is promoting gear sales of any kind. Sure they got a few things for sale, but no gear (rigs/canopies). Skydivers talk to each other, solicit advice from trusted people. Nobody is minding the store or anything, so i ask again, competing with who? Factor in the new "rule" that all students with less than 25 jumps need to jump with a coach or instructor (or is it for everyone w/o an A (?))...... Its all about the $$$ Ive been to other DZ's here in CO, most like the people at Mile-hi, but have a serious dislike of management. And that was just what I overheard or were unsolicited comments. 11. btt.... how does everyone feel now? DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  12. Are they not teaching this stuff to students these days? People need to man-up and be responsible for their actions and not depend on others to do things for them. Sure, being a student means you're learning, but once you have an USPA-A, you should have learned enough to be a safe skydiver (that you're not a danger to yourself or those around you), that includes jumping within the limitations of your skills/capabilities. I've seen a lot of newbies with no knowledge of spotting, exit spacing, exit order, no thought of landing pattern, etc.. I think too many people are dependent upon others. that goes from exit order, exit and landing: -someone mans up and polls the load to put together an exit order just prior to getting on-board -people see a green light and all they know is "jump" -people see others landing and follow everyone else in the patter, which is not bad, but what if they're the first out, then what? I'm outta touch with what they're teaching nowadays, but I've decided to get back into things and at least get involved with coaching.. As it sits, I already address issues as I come across them and turn things into a learning opportunity for myself and others. We need to police ourselves through education/mentoring, not assigning someone to take on the responsibility of others. If an individual(s) is/are causing problems and "just don't get it", then deal with them directly, don't punish* everyone. *punish- place additional requirements upon, prevent/ban from doing _____, charge or cause the expenditure of monies DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  13. Good job! I practice my EP before every jump :) DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  14. I have a couple pro-tec helmets, both 3/4 type. An Alpha (mil) and a classic, which I normally use every jump. I sewed up a "mount' for my SoloII. luckily I've had it on when I've needed it that said, a Cookie G2 is on my list for the upcoming rw season DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  15. I'm not gonna monday morning QB your actions, you are using this as a learning experience for yourself and others, AND, as I used to burn down to 2k ALL the time in my early years (i even have an 1800' and a 1700') I say that not to brag, but in hind sight as to some of the more stupid things I've done. Now I pull around 4k and get a bit of canopy time. I hope others wont be so critical of your actions, but instead use it as a learning tool. I guarantee you not everyone is perfect, they just forget. DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930

  20. I have a SoloII as well, and I hear it just fine the N3audio may fit the bill, but you need headphones/earbuds, which may just be what you're looking for (?) DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930
  21. winds aloft and aircraft/airport traffic are a couple concerns. discuss this with your ST&A as not all DZ's are the same DS#727, DB Cooper #41, POPS #11065, SCR #13183, FA #2125, SCS #8306, HALO #309 SRA #5930

  25. AAD have prevented a whole lot of people to become fatalities and could have saved a lot of other.... I don't dispute that. I only said people now expect an AAD will prevent them from bouncing. I jumped for YEARS w/o an AAD I have one now as a contingency plan/insurance for the unlikely chance that somehow I could become incapcitated. Its not guaranteed, but gives me a better chance of survival vs. not having one... I owe it to myself and my child. licensed skydivers should have the option of jumping w/o one, if they so choose.
