  1. So I am way long from the lz and look down to see my two options.... one field full of about 30 or 40 cows, and the other field with just 1. Hmm.. the just one was obviously a bull and my reserve was bright red. Hahaha. I aborted that scene all together and ended up landing pretty damn far from the dz. But I guess it's better safe than sorry. I was in no mood to land and run from a bull at that point.
  2. I thought I would have a hard time with that too, but two people who watched... the tandem master on the jump with me, and someone on the ground, put two-and-two together and ran out and grabbed my stuff right away. I was actually thinking about following it down but opted not too as it looked like it was going for the woods anyway, and I just wanted to get my feet on the ground in a good spot ASAP.
  3. First of all, I really don't appreciate you implying that I am lying to you or not willing to speak the truth. Read the rest of the thread... I have posted my thoughts about it. I am always open for learning, as I do not think I'm some skygod like some others on here. You are right... I did not "look down" to see where the reserve handle was. I did not intentionally pop it only part way or something. But I certainly felt that it was there still and not going anywhere so I reached up and steared myself where I wanted to go. And hey, I was right... it was still there when I reached back down to stow it. And you know what, if it wasn't, I really don't give a damn. I can afford new handles. Yes, I used two-hands on the handles. I reached with one at first for the cutaway but couldn't get a good grip on it so i ripped it out with both. Should I break this down for you even more? This video was supposed to be for entertainment purposes.
  4. I pulled the reserve handle out enough to pop it, but it was still fairly secure in the housing. I straightened myself out and then stowed the handle. There is a lot that can't be seen from the video perspective.
  5. lost the cutaway while trying to get stable, kept the reserve
  6. We have about twenty five that are planning on going, and are actually serious about it... Should be a good time, looking to maybe BBQ afterwards... They're all bartenders, so they should fit right in... Key word: When?? And... hell yeah! BBQ and heavy drinking... it's on.
  7. hey, when ARE you guys coming?? wanna make sure i'm there with tequilla in hand.
  8. Awe Why didn't you tell me you felt that way????
  9. We had opened high since the spot was way long. Had I not chopped I would have made it home just fine. But I honestly just knew pretty damn quick that it wasn't gonna happen, so choppity-chop. Hey, if I wanted ground rush I would go make another base jump.
  10. you like that??? cracks me up too. such a vidiot. it's like i was watching a tandem deploy or something.
  11. Good observations. I noticed the same thing, the uneven releasing of the risers. It's a javelin TJN, no RSL. My packer says he did nothing differently at all. There's always a chance that body position could have had something to do with it, or harness shifting, etc., but I honestly don't think so here. It spun up too damn quick, right off my back. Usually if I am off a bit on body position I will have an off-heading opening but that is the extent of it. This was definitely more than that. So it could have been a combination of factors. Keep in mind I was also wearing camera wings. Bottom line is - linetwists on a smaller HP canopy can become a headache quick. To me this was no sweat. I had plenty of altitude and I did what I needed to do to land safely.
  12. It is quite possible that I kicked the wrong way, but I almost had no time to kick. As you see in the full speed version, it happened really fast. I was on my back almost instantly and kicking was just not happening. But the couple of kicks I gave, they may have been wrong. Hey, it happens, right? This one was really unsalvagable from what I could tell. Granted I could have waited longer as I had the altitude to do so, but I just didn't feel like messing with it and I was getting pretty damn dizzy. My only mission was to save my ass one way or the other.
  13. you like that, huh? my packer feels REALLY bad about it!! but he's a GREAT packer. keeps my ass in the air on back-to-back-to-back-to-backs... running rigs to me in the landing area, bringing me water, batteries, tapes, etc. It's just part of the sport. What a surprise though! Mike, the TM, had just pointed down to tell me the spot was long too. Grrrrrrrreat!
  14. second. i had a lineover at about 250 jumps. so it's been over 1000 jumps since. i had it coming i guess.
  15. There are a few. I work at Skydive Orange - otter, big dz, 1.5 hours from DC. That's pretty close considering the restricted airspace. PM me for more details or check out skydiveorange.com.
  16. I posted my video to skydivingmovies.com. It's under malfucntions - cutaway_only.wmv. I think this link should work http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=4409.
  17. He causes me a lot of headaches, but I love him almost unconditionally. He doesn't put up with any of my shit. He knows me very well. He knows who he is. And I thank him for being my best friend.
  18. Happy birthday! Your spirit is inspiring. Hang in there, we are all pulling for you! Hope to jump with you someday!
