  1. hahahahha! are you kidding? that's it, someone needs to call in a message damn it!
  2. i'll get back on track here, cuz i really like this thread. i met so many kick ass dz.commers this year. to name a few.... the head honcho... was such a sweetheart when i met him at the convention. not that i expected any different... just in awe....
  3. bwahahahahhhahahaha! i almost started to turn that off when it started... then i forced myself to watch the whole thing!! that is too funny. we need one of those for dz.com! IVAN!!!????!!???
  4. Ahhhh... bless you Jim! You are the MAN!
  5. ok... so we have AOL at work at the dropzone. it drives me insane. but we are still too much in the middle of nowhere to find cheap high-speed. so i know nothing about AOL, and someone managed to get the text stuck on large or largest. that is easy to change on most browsers, but i can't find how to change it in AOL. grrr! can anyone help me?? there is nothing worse than a slow internet connection and HUGE text.
  6. I'm sure that some jumpers ARE capable of obtaining a coach rating with 100 jumps. After getting mine, I thought the evaluation dives weren't very challenging. In my opinion, the problem isn't that the coach is going to be necessarily "dangerous" in the air with a student. The problem I see, is that a student at our dropzone pays $50 for a coach dive out of our super otter. That pays both slots, gear rental, and coach fees. If they are paying that much a jump, don't they deserve to jump with someone with a bit more experience than 100 jumps? Plus, as far as someone wanting to be a coach since they started the sport.... If someone wants to be a freeflyer from the start, we don't send them out headdown on their 30th jump. If someone wants to fly a camera from the start, we make them wait for a couple hundred jumps. If someone wants to be a swooper right out the door, we don't give them a sub-100 velocity as their first canopy off student status. Again, I'm sure there are some people ready for that kind of commitment. I personally think the number is low. [/highjack] sorry guys... tangent.
  7. I don't want to hijack this thread anymore than it has been, but this fact scares the crap out of me. I waited till I had nearly 400 jumps to go through the coach course, and I still think I was doing it prematurely. Someone with 100 jumps should not be allowed to coach... in my opinion.
  8. I wish I could have met Tommy. What an awsome guy he must have been. And he was blessed to have a friend like you, Chris. Blue skies, Tommy! And hang in there Chris. You are loved by many!
  9. whoa. hahahahha. no offense taken, but you obviously don't know me at all if you are calling me a prissy girl. i've worn makeup maybe 5 days in my life. i'm very outdoorsy and active. and i had never been to a spa before that. but hey.... suit yourself.
  10. i so totally agree with this. the best gift i ever got was a 1/2 day at the spa. that included a massage, facial, mud bath thingy, lunch, a manacure, and my hair styled. i left feeling like a queen.
  11. Damn, JRock! I'm sorry I missed your birthday!! I hope it rocked. If you were out with TJ, I'm sure it did! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!! TYPOTS!!!!!!!!!
  12. my dz.com t-shirt, my freakin pants, and my gear.
  13. OUCH! wow! jerm... that stinks!!! i hope your neck and back heal up quick.
  14. 2; 12; 0 2 pack jobs that wacked me so hard my eyeballs nearly popped out. 12 really fun jumps. No beer owed. Congrats to WrongWay for saving his ass when he had his first malfunction this weekend!!! Thanks Junior for saving him!
  15. Much like asking a mechanic to fill your car up with gas. Gordy - "More money spent". Bungie is just cents to buy at REI. Loop it through the eyelets a time or two, either tie a knot and/or make a small stitch and it's done. (If you're real fancy, you can trim off the excess and melt the ends, but that's just nuts). good thing all i had to pay was a smile and a hug cuz my rigger is also a good buddy.
  16. how could you NOT list Firefly??!?!?!! you're simply crazy!
  17. I once dated the biggest asshole known to man. Now I'm dating a total sweetheart. So, I guess I lived and learned. Right?
  18. ahhhh... i see... a bungie "surprise".... right right.... yes, that could be quite annoying after a while i suppose.
  19. uh-oh. haha. what exactly is a "bungie surprise"? or should i not ask?
  20. Do you use one? I'm so sick of my leg straps moving around on me when I'm doing freestyle or sitflying. That probably wouldn't happen if my rig had a more custom fit. So as we speak, my rigger is installing me a butt bungie. Just thought I'd share. Can you tell I'm bored?
  21. i've never tried anything but the original. dew rocks!
  22. quick... run.... "THIS COMPUTER WILL SELF DESTRUCT IN 10..... 9....... 8....... 7....."
  23. Maybe others try to put hidden meaning in their words, but I have none. Jeff is a really nice guy. From what I know of him, he is sincere, thoughful, and very kind. Nice guys are guys that I choose to be friends with. They never intentionally cause hurt to another person. They have a nice positive attitude. They generally treat others with respect, the way they would choose to be treated themselves. Nice guys are by no means "door mats," and I doubt being told you are nice is degrading. If someone feels like a "door mat," they need to learn to stick up for themselves. Believe it or not, you can be nice and still be strong. And yes, Downwind, you are one of the nicest guys I know.
  24. Mr. Bill, You have been such a great asset to our skydiving community. Your stories and adventures have sparked great enthusiasm for many, including myself. I have fond memories of riding in that raft with you for my first raft dive and reading your scrap books. Thanks for the jump! I sincerely hope you stay in touch and keep inspiring young jumpers the way you have been. Your energy and attitude are nothing short of awesome. Congratulations on a great run in the sport! Stay in touch! Liz
  25. it's your imagination. skydiving is still very popular. otherwise, explain how we have had weekdays with 30-some-odd tandems scheduled... more work than we can sometimes handle... and at least 20 new regular experienced jumpers in the past few months alone. the economy will always take its toll on all pass times and luxuries. sometimes it will be up, sometimes down. skydiving is expensive and a lot of people have lost jobs in the past few years. my take... we are in a down point, but it is not a permanent slide. things will get better as they always do.
