  1. Turn your speakers up: http://youmakemetouchyourhandsforstupidreasons.ytmnd.com/
  2. Demo a Fusion and Nitron too, both are a blast if you have the right experience to jump them.
  3. I couldn't agree more. I take checkrides from a guy in his seventies who has had two bouts with Cancer and is still sharper than I am in my mid thirties. I also work with a guy in his sixties who I want dead so long as he's not in the cockpit when it happens. Case by case would be nice.
  4. So cool to be analogue. But look out, helmets complete with heads up display and earphones and rear view video cams are right around the corner as most all are walking around with their heads planted on the glass anyway. Don't get me wrong, I love technology and take advantage of every bit of it that I can. Aviation especially has been changing recently but still needs to make better use of what's available. I just can't stand the useless bullshit that dominates the internet via Facebook.
  5. Don't get me wrong, "Just checked the cabinets to see what I should make make for dinner " written a million times is a valuable contribution to society, I just can't handle it. I also change my political and religious beliefs every time someone misquotes a historical figure. It's a roller coaster. When I meet women in real life I don't understand why they're not pale white with dark hair and making a duck face. I guess I can't wait for Facebook to die. If something is really that important I can research it, call the people directly involved, show up and spend time with someone, or express my opinions to friends and coworkers I really see.
  6. it's a 1.5 hour drive toughen up princess But what if I break a nail on Interstate 10?!?!!?!?!??!?! Seriously, it would be really bad news if I fell asleep at work.
  7. I'll have a rental car and would be happy to take anyone with me to a dropzone. Would Maricopa be quicker than Eloy with traffic? It's a ways down there too it looks like. I'm not sure what APS is, but I'll be working nights at the Deer Valley airport. If it's slow and I can nap at work Eloy should be no problem but if I'm up working all night I'll need some rest time and driving all the way down to Eloy might not be a good idea.
  8. Arizona locals, I am headed to work in the Deer Valley area for about a week in Febuary and again in March. I would love to go to Eloy, but I will likely be working twelve hour night shifts and might not be able to commute all that way and stay rested. Does anyone here have experience with Buckeye? It looks like that might be the closest option, or is there something closer that would be fun? I will be there over a weekend but would love to make at least a jump or two every day including weekdays.
  9. I'm still using the CompuServe default browser, but I'm starting to think they may have stolen the interface from AOL.
  10. I don't remember the exact cost, but I did two sessions (half hour each) with one other guy. I think it was about $225 each per session. I was also there to do the water training for my B license, some canopy coaching, and the maneuvers for the C license. I sent him an email for what I needed and when I would be there and he got back to me within 15 minutes. I think if you talk to him directly he might be able to do better rates than the tunnel publishes, but don't quote me on that.
  11. A few years back Blue Skies Mag published plans for a canopy hanger that can be raised, lowered, assembled and disassembled easily. I am getting ready to build one for the dropzone but wanted to put it together at my house first to test it out and have everything ready so that I can use it and so that when I get down to the hangar all I will need to worry about is atttaching it to the hangar roof. Now I can't find the plans anywhere and was wondering if anyone has them or something similar they would be willing to share. I am also wondering if PVC would be an acceptable material to build it from, or if something else would be better.
  12. You fall faster in hot air. Hot air is less dense so you have to fall further per parcel of time to hit the same number of air particles.
  13. I did two tunnel sessions with him in April. He was excellent, got me on my back and into a sit faster than I thought possible.
  14. I feel your pain. A couple weeks ago I sold my main having reached a deal on a new one, the seller has been unreachable for two and a half weeks leaving me rigless.
  15. I think Pinal is cooler, when you compare the size of airframes with the runway length. They used to let you wander around and take your picture in the engine inlets, now Evergreen will have you arrested for being on the wrong side of the runway.
  16. Now there's something to brag about, I have always enjoyed treating children that are fatally injured and maimed for life by fuckhead drunk-drivers. Yeah, but jokes are always better when you tell them from the first person. I personally was offended by the grand theft auto story the original poster put up, but I decided just to roll with it.
  17. I used to deliver pizza for a national chain that used the annoying magnetic rooftop signs. On Thursdays after closing (often early), we would all go to a local bar that aired new episodes of South Park on a huge screen and drink ourselves silly for the hour or two that we had before closing time. Then we would all file back to the parking lot, remove the car top signs from trunks or backseats, plug them in to illuminate them, and space our departure times and/or driving routes so no one looked suspicious.
  18. That pilot was awesome. He made it almost 700 yards further than the pilot who tried it right before him with a better plane and less weight.
  19. It looks like I may be shipping out to Midland for a week or so starting about the 12th. Any locals have recommendations for where to jump, or just what in that area will be open on weekdays? I looked at the website for Westex, Eagles Nest wouldn't load, and I can't find the hours listed anywhere. I know I could just call tomorrow, but I'm impatient and addicted to the internet.
  20. http://www.airtoons.com/ And here's a study guide for the passenger safety cards.
  21. They got me up on several loads and even let me demo some other canopies while I was there. A great group of folks and fun to jump with.
  22. I will be spending the better parts of Monday and Tuesday sitting around in Boise for work and was wondering if any locals wanted to get together for some jumps on either of those days. I called both dropzones, and one of them called back to say they will be running loads but need more fun jumpers.
