  8. Most definatley, look in the face of a student who has only done tandems/ AFF when it is time for their Clear and Pull, a whole new world of terror I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle
  9. If you break it down, S/L students tend to take a couple extra jumps to complete the A card then the AFF and the Tandem ISP students. So it really does come out even (or in many cases, more expensive) in the end. AD, when I was going through, I made the S/L decision b/c it seemed cheaper but I was jumping a lot more to lean a little, S/L was a steep learning curve for me, when I changed over I did LvII to Grad without ever having to repeat, the video, the in air instruction, it all came together, and all in all I think I spent maybe $100 or so more than if I had continued S/L at the rate that I was learning at I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle
  10. I agree, I did something like 9 S/Ls before I wised up and Pay more? Nah, it all averages out pretty much the same when all is said and done I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle

  12. Nope, Saw an interview with "The Old Gunny" and the way he describes it he was an advisor to the film and the actor they had playing the Drill Sergeant was not doing what the director had in mind, the Director had Ermey show him what a Staff SGt in the Corp would to and everyone just said, ah Screw it let Ermey do it, acto canned, Gunny In, and to hear him talk about having to hit the big Pvt Pyle, "Oh man I hope I don't piss this big guy off and he whoop my ass" And on the book the book "The Short Timers" is the book of Full Metal Jacket ( had to go to my book shelf) and covers it all, and the reason the movie seems to leave off in the middle, is because it does, the fight at the Champagne (?) River, is barely half waay through the novel http://www.gustavhasford.com/Full.htm I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle

Do tell...[/hijack] He came to visit us in 02-03 here in the alligator infested part of SC and decided he wanted to be STeve Irwin for a few hours, with his helmet cam, but was rudely interupted by the Sherrifs Dept Searh and Rescue Party that was sent after hime, just ask the vid will have you in stitches I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle
  21. Absolutely, on my 2nd S/L my JM had seen my walking around with a disposable camera and asked if I wanted a pic of me on the strut, sure. Well on the strut I go and as he raises the cam's view finder to his eye with both hands, he also raises the S/L, putting tension on it, the supposed "ARCH Thousand, 2 thousand, 3 thousand check thousand" became Arch thousand 2 thou- WTF is this parachute doing here, needless to say the DZO met old boy in the Landind area and had a topic specific chat with him Look at the pic closely and you can see the stows popping off my rig I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle
