  1. From up top, I swear I saw your feet swing out from under the canopy when it opened!
  2. Nice helmet. I'm a novice camera flyer so forgive the ignorance but is there a big disadvantage to mounting the still directly on top of the Optic or it is just personal preference? Thanks.
  3. Is there any information/data available about how much stress various types of towers (wired and freestanders) can take? I know that I was very happy to get off a 450' freestander last week that felt like it was moving a lot with 3 people up top.
  4. Thanks for the history Skypuppy, definitely cool to see how long people have been tossing themselves from fixed objects. Hope the ankle has healed and you get back to the Perrine this Summer.
  5. I think if you're going to do this sort of comparison you need to include the vented Troll with the monodirectional valve technology (MDVT) which is a pretty cool valve system.
  6. Call Robert at Morpheus if you have questions. I've had both containers (started with the Medusa) and they function great. There is a good group of jumpers in Atlanta so PM me if you're headed this way and want to ground crew before your FJC. Baxter.
  7. You'll really enjoy the Morpheus Course, they're great people, very knowledgeable and really look after their students. Baxter.

    Jump numbers.

I do think there is something to be said for number jumps from different objects. Just because someone has 200+ jumps from that "legal span in the potato state" doesn't make them experienced.
  9. Thanks. I was concerned about the auto-focus feature causing a problem but that doesn't an issue.
  10. I just bought a Canon EOS Rebel 2000 with an EF28-80 lens. I was told several different settings to select to jump it including placing the command dial to "Tv" and auto setting the shutter speed. I also noticed that the lens does not have an "infinity setting" and wonder if the auto focus capability will work. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  11. A terminal tower would be great but our local 2000' is pretty heavily watch... not that this is stopping me from trying I was interested in finding some object/device from which you could practice a wingsuit exit in subterminal air without wires beside you or an object behind you.
  12. I was a wimp this time but did try out my new Cazar 26"/9' bridle PC on an Otter wingsuit jump with the Cobalt which worked great. Glad to hear you survived Arizona, that sounded like one hell of an jump!
  13. Cool Video. This is the same helicopter that we jumped at the Key's Boogie in November and yesterday in Georgia (ASC-Cedartown). Like most helicopters the downward thrust from the blades really effects wingsuit exits. While it is fun to wing it from a heli, what do you guys think of using a heli exit to practice BASE flights? I've heard pros and cons but think any experience gained from the lack of forward flight is offset from the blade thrust.
  14. It took awhile to load but the jump in the rock quarry, dodging the ledges, is pretty cool. Nice video. Baxter.
  15. I agree with your approach Chuck! I was in the Keys last month and screwed around in the Sky Van a little too long which put me waaaaay out. Long story short, I exited over water and flew my ass of to get back to land all the time thinking about what I was going to do if I had to get wet!
  16. You'd better stay away from that slider, you're a married man!
  17. Jumped the Pantz at the Keys Boogie and ordered a pair for BASE as well. Great for tracking but my cell phone doesn't fit in the pocket, what's up with that?!?!?

    Morpheus Tech

I took their first jump course, own a Gargoyle and Medusa (both with their Big Grab toggles) and can't say enough good things about their products and customer service. Baxter.
  19. I did a FJC at the Perrine with Morpheus Technologies (see-www.baserigs.com) Great course and instructors at a very reasonable price. I learned packing, exit body position, site evaluation... all the FJC info. I also bought a rig from them and they have been a great source of knowledge and resource for all my base questions. Definitely a good group to learn from. E-mail me if you have any more questions. Baxter.
  20. Chuck's right, we have a nice Otter at ASC and several wingsuit instructors, myself and Steve-O. Regarding the round and wingsuit, I saw Bill Stampfle (sp.) wing-it from Smellvegan in Norway last year and land in the water with a round. Good opening and great jump.
  21. Bryan- We met at the Perrine several months ago. There is a small (but dedicated) group of flyers here in Atlanta. If you make in down here, e-mail me and we'll get some flights in. Baxter.
  22. Does anyone know of any book(s), CDs or other training material for Premier 6.5, After Effects 6.5 or Eye Candy 4000? I'm just trying to expand my skills. Thanks. Baxter.
  23. I saw the vented Troll being jump, slider up and slider down, in Twin Falls and Moab about a month ago and it performs like a stellar canopy. Quick, positive, on-heading openings. I'm definitely ordering one through Morpheus Technologies in the Spring to go with my new Gargoyle. Baxter.
  24. Cool Chuck, we'll definitely get in some flights. There are a few others with suits now so a 4 or 5 way is a possibility! c-ya.
  25. Hey Chuck- Thanks for responding. One of the reasons I got the Cobalt was seeing how well you swooped it at the ASC meet earlier in the Summer. Sponsorship does some good after all! I figured you had to be winging it with the Cobalt as well and my main concern was the smaller PC. I'm packing grommet to pin so that extraction is more direct and positive. I also like to stay in a track, which after reading Dan's posts in this thread, seems the way to go with the Cobalt. c-ya. Baxter.
