  1. Congrats man, that's a nice lineup. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  2. Did you try it with the VR off on the lens? That could be what's stopping it but that's just a shot in the dark. Their VR tech is amazing for shooting longer exposure handhelds but that could possibly be what's screwing it up for skydiving. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  3. I found this thread when I was searching for the same subject just a few days ago. It may help. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3231561 Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  4. Here is the video. Not the best footage but it's footage none the less. http://vimeo.com/40559791 Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  5. If anyone is interested I can post some raw footage from a couple weeks ago. A guy at my DZ has a G7 and lent it to another guy to fly. I was on the load and spent the jump just getting footage of the G7 flying. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  6. Did you receive it? I still have not seen an actual finished print copy, just an advance with a soft spine. Yup it came. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  7. Amazon says mine shipped out yesterday and it'll be here tomorrow! woot. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  8. That is awesome. I wish I had some fiberglass experience to do that. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  9. ewwwww I've been wanting to find a skydive friendly cam that can shoot 1080p and has a filter thread. Bonus points if I can use my hypeye, but not a deal breaker. Will this housing have threads? I've seen housings like that for other cameras. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  10. Yeah safety is definitely a primary concern. I have no problem pulling high if my body can't take it. I remember flying an R-Bird on a jump in which I broke 3 minutes. It wasn't to the point of not being able to pull but boy were my arms sore after that. That was last July and from just flying I've got stronger(you wouldn't be able to tell looking at me haha). But I'm definitely working out in prep for a flying air mattress. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  11. And I just noticed you replied Lurch. Yeah I will likely order a P3 built for me. I already fly my P2 scrunched up to stay with most of the people I fly with. I'll have to get some video from one of them. Currently I can sustain 36ish mph in my P2. Though I don't pay much attention to my vertical speeds. I surely wont be flocking in something big. It would be quite uncomfortable I think. Needless to say I have a lot of dive/swoop practice. ;) But you're right, my muscles are the thing I'm worried about the most on going to something like an X or Apache. I only recently started working out. I'm hoping I can pack on some lean muscle without much weight. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7049/6863454052_7bd8d842d4.jpg Nothing in life is to be feared. 12. I was very interested in these as well. I called the company a few weeks ago to ask a couple questions and one that threw me off was when I asked how frequently the display updates. They told me it was every SIX seconds. To me that seems like way too long to be anything other than a novelty. I'm hoping the person I talked to was wrong. Nothing in life is to be feared. 13. You want credit for a "coach" jump when you jump with a D license holder? Absolutely... Since when does a D mean you're done learning? ---------------------------------- I'm highly interested in helping others get into this discipline. I would like to be able to get SOME sort of rating that shows I'm putting forth genuine effort towards keeping my would be "students" safe. The main reason I haven't started down the path to a coach rating yet is because I fear wingsuit coaching would not be recognized. I have zero interest in any other discipline in the sport. If there is a rating that I can keep current by doing FFCs and WS Coaching, I wouldn't be against that. I feel like it should be part of the current coach rating though. The issue I see with that is that John Smith with a coach rating and zero wingsuit jumps could technically be considered a qualified FFC instructor. That said, it shouldn't be a problem if the staff at the DZ keeps that kind of thing on the radar. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  14. I'm really curious about this as well. I'm 5'10" and 135 WITH all of my gear on. I'm pretty curious about what kind of vertical speeds I can get in an X/X2. When I had a handful of wingsuit jumps I was flying a rental T-Brid and holding low 30's so I really look forward to the day I try something that sized. I ordered a V4 for this coming season, one of the deciding factors was that I would float LESS in it than an X/X2 because I already out float most people at my DZ in my P2. I have a feeling I will be holding onto my P2(or ordering one to fit, not a demo suit) just to have a more "comfortable" suit to fly with the bigger guys. Nothing in life is to be feared. 15. That's not exactly true. The BSR has changed in 2011. 6. Any person performing a wingsuit jump must have at least 200 skydives, and hold a current USPA license. [E] That's all it says in the BSR (2-1) and this is in the wingsuit recommendations section (6-9)... Note: As used here, "Coach” describes an experienced wingsuiter. “Student” describes a first-time wingsuit jumper required to have a mini- mum of 200 jumps per BSR 2-1, recommended to have been in the past 18 months. Wing-suit manufacturers offer instructional ratings for their products. All jumpers, regardless of experience in other disciplines, are rec- ommended to seek thorough training that covers all the elements below. Both of those are from the SIM. They got rid of the 500 jump bit as well as the 200 REQUIRED in 18 months and lowered it to recommended. It's not clear on if you HAVE to go with a coach. (I'm not recommending it, just saying) Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  16. That's awesome! Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  17. I use a pair of ipod earbuds tucked into one audible pocket. Just used some gaf tape to keep it on my helmet. crwper, how much are those mounts? Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  18. I thought for a second he worked at the same place I do. =P Where I work we have those same racks and Lieberts, about 12 of them. Suit looks great though! Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  19. Holy crap. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  20. Hey Michal! Yeah I'm not upset or anything. I'm a noob myself, I just need to learn an opposite set of skills as most people. =P I'm having a blast flying with people even if I'm spending a lot of time above them. Along the lines of what Jarno said I don't think people should have to fall slower just because I can't get down to them. I do eat pizza, lots of it. haha I was just blessed/cursed with an insane metabolism. Hopefully I can make it out on Saturday, the GF is trying to drag me to some get together. I will definitely be out on Sunday. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  21. So keep in mind I only have 18 jumps on a WS so far but from the few tries I've made at keeping with the group what happens is I can keep up with the forward speed of the group without a problem, they just continue to drop below me. What wingsuit are you flying? T-Bird Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.

  23. Yeah I didn't anticipate being as floaty as I am in a WS. I'm 5'10" 110lbs so I'm sure that has something to do with it. I will spend a lot of time learning to dive it seems. Once I learn to dive well, I'll have to learn to fly that fast. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  24. That's what he wants to do - fly rather than plummet with the others. Exactly Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
  25. So as you can tell by my jump profile I'm a new WS jumper. I'm just curious what the average flock shoots for as a base vertical speed. I've heard around 70mph so far but to me that seems fast. I'm looking to find a good range to practice staying in. I'm sure not all flocks fly at the same speed I'm just looking for a general. I do need to figure out how to fall fast so I can keep up with the big guys though. My comfortable body position right now on a T-Bird(thanks Simon!) is in the mid 40's. The 70's seems fast to me haha. Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
