  1. According to what I’ve been taught and what I am reading, you are going against the rules by assembling your components yourself. 105-2c Sport Parachute Jumping / Section 11 “Assembly of major parachute components” “A. The assembly or mating of approved parachute components from different manufacturers may be made by a certificated appropriately rated parachute rigger or parachute loft in accordance with the parachute manufacturer's instructions and without further authorization by the manufacturer or the FAA.” Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this why Riggers exist in this sport? Isn’t this why I spent a lot of money to get certified? Not to say you are not capable of doing the work, but in my understanding, you are not supposed too… Also, a Senior Rigger is not authorized to supervise repairs. Only a Master Rigger can perform this function in the learning process. Please explain why “riggers” on this forum are telling the OP this is just fine for him to setup his own gear?
  2. Don't talk smack about your "rigger" behind his back! By him/her lunch and sodas often! Marriage is like a deck of cards. You start with two harts and a diamond only to discover you wish you had a club and a spade!
  3. Which line is bad, one towards the middle, the outside? A-B line, C-D line? It may be a good idea to replace the bad line, as well as it's opposite partner on the other side. This way will lessen the chance of developing a turn, depending on the location of the bad line. If it's an outside line, a small difference in length could give undesirable results. 4. For those who do use a molar strap, I have a method for keeping track of mine that anyone may find usefull. I keep a rubber band around my strap to keep it rolled up in my kit. When I use the molar strap during a reserve repack, I put the rubber band around my wrist. When the molar strap comes out, the rubber band is taken off my wrist and back on the rolled up strap. The band on my wrist is a little tight and uncomfortable, on purpose. Very unlikely I would forget to remove the strap using this reminder. Anyone else have any tips for counting your tools? 5. Do watch the packing video JackC1 is telling you about. It's released by PD, but the techniques would apply to almost any modern day canopy. Note that in the video, he is saying “Don’t do anything with the nose”, they don’t role it or drop it. He just leaves it hangin’ out and wraps the tail around it. He also states this will help with on heading openings. That may be just the trick you are looking for? You’ll also notice they recommend quartering the slider straight in. I would recommend the video to anyone packing rigs. It’s very nicely done! Marriage is like a deck of cards. 6. We are about the same size. I claim a 250# exit weight too. I learned on a 290 Raven and moved on to a 190 Diablo. Be careful, I have a total of 50 jumps to date, 7 of the last 10 have been on the 190 Diablo. I still have issues getting the flare right. Let's just say, "I know my PLF is working!" My point being, I thought I was getting pretty consistant landing the Raven, now I am frustrated to be piling in hot all the time. Be careful and be ready! You can make a 190 work out. Just watch out. Marriage is like a deck of cards. You start with two harts and a diamond only to discover you wish you had a club and a spade!
  7. I have a problem with JumTrack 3.2 not totaling my freefall time after downloading new jumps. I sent L&B email and didn't hear anything back. It's nice to know others are getting good service. Maybe I'll try again? Marriage is like a deck of cards. You start with two harts and a diamond only to discover you wish you had a club and a spade!
  8. My Altitrack does the same thing. No jump recorded on a hop and pop. Marriage is like a deck of cards. You start with two harts and a diamond only to discover you wish you had a club and a spade!
