  1. Appreciate it man, can't wait :) Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  2. Just got my start date for AFF :) Ground school on May 6th (yes less than 2 weeks away :D ) and first (and hopefully more) jump planned for 7th. I also have tunnel time booked for Monday. Not really looking for answers, just excited like a kid at Xmas and no one else I know skydives so I wanted to share with like minded ppl who I'm sure will understand my excitement. :D Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  3. congrats mate, well played :D and happy birthday Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  4. good luck you too mate, maybe i can come to your DZ for a few jumps once we have both progressed or vice versa... nice one :D Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  5. Thanks for the words, it's appreciated and I'm now looking forward even more to starting aff. Skydiving now fills much of my waking thoughts and I can't wait to make it a reality. Better tell the wife to sell some shoes!! :) I need money for jump tickets lol Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  6. I totally agree with the avoidance of everyones a winner. I don't think all kids should get a trophy and teacher should never mark in red pen. Having to repeat a level maybe a fact of life, I may sail thru, however every jump leads to experience and that's never a bad thing Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  7. Thanks fella, cheers Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  8. Hi guys, thank you so much for the prompt replies. Tunnel time is significantly cheaper than Aff as suggested above. I have done lots of research and agree wholeheartedly about accident stats and incident under a fully inflated and controllable canopy. Low turns, collisions, etc. This is very much in the forefront of my mind. I have already preped the coach at the tunnel regarding me doing Aff in may and they said we can practice stability and also some practice ripcord pulls. I'm doing my best to push out the pass fail ideas and have been reading brians book on transcending fear - very good read :) and lots of good advice on how to mentally approach jumping. As ppl have said many times if your on the ground safe and unharmed it's a good jump. All jumps are experience and it's something I'm trying to train myself to trust Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  9. Hi guys, I start my Aff in May. I did a tandem last year and 10 minutes tunnel time late last year. I have now booked an extra 8 minutes coached tunnel time for end of April prior to starting my Aff. Do you guys see a significant benefit in taking tunnel time prior to Aff. I was fairly stable last time and think that the 8 min refresher will hopefully aid in not failing a level (although nothing is a sure thing). What's the general opinion on paying out now for tunnel time as opposed to jumping straight into Aff. Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  10. Thank you for the reply :D Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  11. Hey Guys, Does anyone have any experience of the BKPC in the UK (Cumbria). I'm planning on doing my AFF in May. Funds are in the bank and i'm good to go. Ive heard good things but wanted to see if anyone else used BKPC for AFF and whats the generally opinion. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place and as always all help/advice is greatly appreciated aLp27 Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  12. Congrats man. I'm starting AFF in May and hope mine goes as well as yours... im v jealous :D Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  13. Such a shame you are not nearer Liverpool, we could have done aff together at cark. Also which tunnel are u using!! Alp :) Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  14. Thanks a lot. I'm really looking forward to it - nothing on earth feels like freefall. Its a very peaceful place tbh :D Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  15. Hey man, I did my tandem at cark - Nw parachute centre. I'm doing aff with the guys at aff school based at cark. It's about 20 mins further on than black knights but I feel at home at cark so it's all good. I'm so so excited about ground school and my first jump... That tandum feeling fades a little over a year but it sure as hell ain't died so aff here I come :) Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  16. Hey guys, I've been on here a few times and posted about my tandem experience for charity back in April last year. I was unable to get my aff booked last summer due to finances but now the moneys in the bank and I'm awaiting my start date (hopefully early May) :) I'm really excited to get back up there and get stuck in. It might sound stupid but my biggest fear (sorry Brian) is making sure I don't mess up the landing pattern, I have no major concerns over the exit, free fall, etc. Guess I'm just strange lol Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  17. I know mate, I just cant wait to do AFF. Does anyone know if u can jump or do AFF during the autumn/winter months in the UK. I would be jumping out at Cark in cumbria Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  18. well i finally have the cash together to do AFF. Im hoping to start pretty much immediatly at Cark in Cumbria UK but wanted to check if you can still jump sept onwards as I know the colder/worse weather is on its way. I dont really wanna have to wait until March/April next year and im desperate to get started. It seems like an age since my tandem and I dont wanna lose the bug. Do DZs in the UK close during winter? any advice would be appreciated. Thanks ALP27 Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  19. I've just got some great advice and it appears I have been arching my chest and not at the hips, no wonder I hurt lol. Cheers for all the advice guys. Can't wait to put it into practice during aff :) Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  20. Thanks for the advice... I think I will try and do a further 10 mins prior to starting AFF. :) Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  21. Lmfao... I thought that but u beat me to it lol Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  22. Thanks for the advice guys... knackered is a british term LOL... i guess it is knida funny. I will try and work on the muscles and get them used to the stresses that will hopefully be common place after AFF. I gotta say tho it was wicked to get the chance to practice a good arch and stable body position prior to doing AFF 1... its a totally different sensation to tandem in that the slightest movements have great effect. heres a pic of my poor attempt LOL Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  23. prior to me starting AFF in the summer I did 10 minutes in a wind tunnel @ Airkix in Manchester yesterday to try and learn a good arch and stability. First off I can highly recommend the guys and girls there. Awesome tuition and a great bunch of people. Plus Cat our instructor has MAD freeflying skills as she proved at the end of the tunnel time. What suprised me though was how tiring it is doing 5 x two minute sessions over 20 minutes. By the final 2 minutes I was aching and was almost too knackered to maintain concentration, its a good job freefall is no longer than a minute ;) Also all today my lower back and arm muscles are aching like i've been punched... is this normal? and which exercises can I do to build the muscles up that are most used in free fall? Cheers alp27 Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  24. Yeah, their podcast is awesome and they still do the safety first feature with the legend that is brian germain.. Such good info and advice. Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
  25. nice one dude... Everyone dies.... not everyone lives!!
