Care to provide some data to back this up? I don't doubt uninsured people use hospitals all the time. I do question how often it's uninsured-illegal immigrants as opposed to uninsured-everybody else. edited to add: And in response to any article you post, you should know I'm going to ask: And how were they able to identify the patient as an illegal immigrant, rather than the guy that came in and gave his name as john somebody with the address of 123 fake street? Find an article that resolves this issue as well, please. .jim It doesnt matter how often. The point is it should be never. Hospitals already have enough problems dealing with uninsured legals and citizens. The illegals who do it add to an existing problem. Whether they do it 5000 times a year or 5000000 times per year doesnt matter, since its an addition to an existing problem. Ideally it shuold be 0. 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

Yes, this is the government that people think can actually deport illegals. I know how truly stupid the government can be. It took four years for one guy. They'll ask ridiculous questions. And this is for people getting in. Imagine the difficulties in getting them OUT. Much like nobody is good enough that skydiving cannot kill them, there is no government program that the government cannot screw up mightily. One option is setting a high fine on an employer caught hiring illegals, and forcing the employer to pay for the plane ticket. Once the employers catch on that its not profitable to hire people who break our laws, the job opportunities will minimize for illegals, and they will not come here in such high numbers. 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

We have 2 dogs. Both are rescue dogs. The Boston Terrier I got through a Boston Terrier rescue organization. He was 1 years old when I got him. He is nom coming up on 2 years old. The Weimaraner was also rescued through SPCA. He was in terrible shape, and 20 pounds lighter then he is today. He was 3 years old then…he is 5 now. 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

As I said in the welding thread, under the current I&NA, only illegal entry is a criminal violation. Over-staying one's visa is illegal, too, but it's purely a civil violation. So...some people living here illegally are not criminals. I dont understand why I had to pay the dues to live here, but these people get a free ride. I want a free ride too! (to Mexico...cause Corona is cheaper there ) 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

Which is the problem? People living here illegaly (criminals), or employers hiring them illegaly (criminals). The problem is we dont have the balls to do something abuot this issue. As soon as we do here come the liberal human rights activists, etc. Are we forgetting these people are all criminals? 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

Since you are convinced that proportional representation is best for the EC, do you also advocate it for the House of Representatives? Yes. Shouldnt we be consistent in our way of thinking? 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

Bill at first you say "That's what it comes down to. If we are the united _people_ of america, then a vote per person makes more sense. If we are the united _states_ of america, then the electoral college makes more sense." Then you say "So we have a mix of the two - which is also what the EC is". So which one is it? -- If we are the united _states_ of america, then the electoral college makes more sense or -- A mix of the two - which is also what the EC is. At first you say its one or the other. Now you say its a mix. I say give all people one vote if we are the UPA or give each state one vote if we are USA. Or make the EC fair and truly represent the population's votes. 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

Very little. It would make 100% of the votes in California meaningless. You're complaining about only 40% being renderered pointless. How so? if 60% vote one way...thn we are still misrepresenting 40% of the people. But you missed my point. Since we are the United States, and not United People of America, then why shuold a state get more then 1 vote. After all arent all 50 states equal? And since we are not the United People of America, why does it matter how many people live in each state? 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

each, independent state, can do it any way they want If you force them all to do it, then that's not constitutional Option 2 is just pop pitching another version of the popular vote, except it avoids needing recounts due to "almost ties" as it segments the vote into a discrete odd count. With the 50/50 split in the world, you'd also need to eliminate the minimum number of Electoral Votes and just go with the winner. It's a silly concept that's just a disguised popular vote. If that's that point, just go with the popular vote. What do you think about Option 1. 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

pop - use the search function. We've been talking about this alternatives for months. option 2, applied universally, is unlikely to change anything. In a close election those extra 2 EC votes will make the difference. It a not close election, it won't matter. All I am saying is that under the current system the 49% I mention in my example have their voice misrepresented. 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer

Here are two solutions: 1. Each state gets 1 EC vote. If we are United States of America, then why should one state have more say than another? Based on population you say? Well we are not the United People of America. 2. Break up the EC votes. If one candidate gets 51% of popular votes, then he/she gets 51% of EC votes. That is more fair, since the other 49% of EC votes go the the less popular candidate for that state, and the 49% still have a say in the national outcome (which is not the case today.) In this case however, every state needs to do this to stay fair. ***Adding one more thing. Currently the EC voters have the right to vote for the cadidate they think is the right candidate, even if the popular vote within their district tells them to vote otherwise. In both of my porposed solutions we have to do away with EC voters having this right. 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer
-
And that brings me back to my point. The way the EC is set up today, it is irrelevant who I choose to vote for. My vote really doesnt count in Texas since the outcome, no matter who I vote for, is already known. 7 ounce wonders, music and dogs that are not into beer
