Stiletto As Beginner Canopy? no thank you

http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=120604;d=1 This guy is really pushing this as a first canopy! Really? -
And don't try to be a hero and do a flip in the harness to get it straight while in flight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpOCsQCKi7I

I just bought a pilot standard ZP. After readting through a lot of threads about them I understand ZPX to be for pack volume only. But here's their official report on it http://flyaerodyne.com/zpx.asp Someone correct me if I'm wrong. PD's website hase a pulse 170 packing in between an all ZP 150 and 135. Aerodyne lists a 17% pack volume reduction so it's about the same as a pulse when comparing a pilot 168 to a pulse 170.

http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3894693;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;guest=82160489 Read through this please. The point is, it's not the size of the camera that is a concern, rather the distraction/varables whatever one wants to call it. The two out incident we see here basically disproves your argument. The jumper flipped over and filmed the others opening then went way low. I don't buy that "learning to backfly" excuse.
-
backflying aint easy right away. took me a bit o time in the tunnel to really get mediocre at it. You looked like you were having a real hard time trying to get back to your belly, I saw lots of flailing then spinning. To me this is not an excuse, and i'm not sure by your responses that you rally understand how serious this was. "sipmly learning to backfly" is really an attempt to minimize it, whether for your sake or ours.

Charities using Skydiving to Fund Raise

Generally i've heard go to the low jumper. BUT If your with a new group make a plan, and stick to it. Maybe one of the jumpers just got their license and isn't good at not crashing through the formation. Or everyone thinks they are going to the other guy and the group just keeps chasing itself. Generally i've heard go to the low jumper.

Which Military job does the most skydiving?
LDiCosimo replied to jephprospect's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Really? Your profile says you've got 100 jumps, thats the requirement to attend GK selection. When I was asking them about it last year they said they'd like you to have some RW skills and the rest they want to teach you. They do not want some hot shot who they will have to brake all the habbits that they don't like. -

I've never been taught this but... This Past weekend after a pretty good 4way I saw another jumper semi near me under canopy who started kicking her legs while looking over at me. I couldn't tell if it was excitment after a fun jump or communication so I just kicked in response... It was comforting to know we both saw each other, I'll be keeping this up

I see what your saying. But I beleive a horse shoe also includes when the pilot chute is out but tagneled on something like a limb (or go pro) thus preventing proper deployment of the main and also causing you to not be able to effectively cut it away and have to deploy a reserve into a nasty mess. Merriah Eakins (kmfreefly) has quite the horseshoe story involving the bridle and her braid.

whats not a horseshoe about the bridle being wraped on his leg? Not flame just asking

Shenanigans ? Packing/packers issue
LDiCosimo replied to KevinMcguire89's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So is part of your rental fee paying for the pack job? At my DZ if you rent a rig but pack it yourself they deduct the pack job from the rental fee. However, at the end of the day, or when someone else has dibs on the rig a staff packer is needs to be the one to pack it. I would tell manifest when cashing out for the day that you packed it 4 out of 5 rental jumps. -

Health insurance coverage value
LDiCosimo replied to dirtbox's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Cool cool It looks like you have to declare the activities when getting quoted for them to cover it. If you do that and it's still cheaper then $500,000 is plenty. -

I see your listed as South Korea. Do you happen to be military? You could get tricare for even cheaper. They don't ask questions. I got hurt at couch freaks and skydiving was all over my paperwork and they didn't bat an eye covering me. -
1st Jump, Minor Malfunction
LDiCosimo replied to Sgt.Sausage's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
When I was taught this they also said to keep the same compensation in the brakes all the way through the flare i.e. if you are holding the right toggle down 6 inches to maintain straight level flight then you must keep the right toggle 6 inches lower through the flare to continue keeping the wing level -

What doesn't make sense? I said if you have to compensate past shoulder level that is too much. Something every instructor I know has said, not something I just came up with out of thin air. I never told anyone how to run a FJC Just reiterated what the instructors that taught me and that i've watched teach others used to reinforce knowledge and ensure for themselves that their student is ready to jump. That's all LD Out -

It's a scary thing. I had a cutaway on jump 30 or so. I was pretty freaked out. But those things are made to open if nothing else especially if you cutaway from such a stable position not spinning like I was (and it still worked fine) -

If you have to hold a toggle down to keep your canopy in level flight that's OK as long as it's NOT below your shoulder What was your decision altitude? They would have pounded into your head throughout the course as well as quizzing you on the ride to alt. I'll repeat the shoulder level compensation rule. on anything but a student canopy it might mean broken bones I've sat in first jump courses, sat next to AFF level 1 jumpers on the plane still going over all of this. I don't believe your instructors would have let you leave the plane without this basic knowledge that had been getting pounded into your head for 6 hours. I think this boils down to reserve fear. Please do not be afraid to cut away and ride the reserve. This may sound harsh but it's better you hear it now than debriefing in the ER waiting room. -
Here's the email I got.

I was told they were sending a unit to each container manuf. to get individual approval in absence of a standardized testing process.

I just sent Alti-2 an email yesterday asking for an update. I'll let you know when I hear from them.
