I have a theory, it relates to latitude. The farther north a country is the more people may have to depend on their neighbours/community for survival. I'm no anthropologist, but if the winter is damn sure to kill people I think, you're likely to play nice with each other in the hope that if something bad is happening(bad harvest, dead adult provider, ect.) they help you out somehow. This is entirely made up bullshit however. :edit: Also meant to say, I based that off stereotypes. I really haven't run into the "rude American".

You've never driven in Toronto rush hour traffic, it's just lucky we don't all tend carry guns or the murder rate would be much higher.

I just about always reply to a "thank you" with "no worries". I have no idea where I picked it up, I'm Canadian.

Work however occasionally books ahead of time unfortunately, and of course right in the span of a boogie ::grumble grumble, ect..:: Maybe I should find a calendar of awesome places to go and when so I can avoid having to be at work at those times. ...Yes I'm willing to ditch the non-planning things habit to facilitate skydiving.

Have been reading dropzone.com and the forums for a little bit now, figured it was time to sign up and say hi. Hi! Started jumping in mid September, now at 39 jumps and holding a CSPA Solo certificate at the time of this post. Needless to say I'm hooked on jumping out of so called perfectly good aircraft.
