It sucks that they are only usually open on the weekends I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky -
S/L only starts as static line for the first 5 jumps in an 18 or so jump progression after that you begin to freefall and practice freefalling techniques. Some Dropzones do this differently than others. Mine gives more ff time to the static liner near the end of his her course so they have more time with the instructors in the air than traditional courses. Have fun.. Be safe! The position for the men have already been taken .. by the director, producers, close friends of them, people they owe money to, ect.. ect.. I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky

Take a breath close your eyes exhale That's who you are! Just you, even if you're trying to be something else I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky

I completely agree. I will also bet that a static liner will outland any aff student after graduation 9 out of 10 times. I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky

I know wat you mean about this place. I was jumping down there for three weeks while I was staying in Alabama (taking some maritime education classes) And although I could only get one, maybe two jumps in a day because of my schedule, I met some really cool people there. It's one of those places where it's difficult to do a solo jump. You cannot wonder around not knowing people there for long. I was gearing up getting ready for a load my first day there and was almost mobbed by the friendlyness. Gold Coast Rocks Brian I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky -
How oftern do you practice your Reserve drills?
Antithesis replied to bluegremlin's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's a good practice and habit. I do it with out even thinking about wether I should do it or not before a jump. I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky -
My scariest jump was a night jump. Because of strange circumstances I was the only person in the sky and the only person jumping. It was also blowing 15 to 20 gusting to 30. Being the only person in the sky I decided to really work my heatwave. I was open at 4500 to enjoy my view but lost altitude rapidly because of the hard banking toggle turns and dive combinations that I was performing. All of which I had done many of in day light. However at around 2500 ft I made a hard right toggle flared out of it then hard left toggle downwind rapidly-- My next response was HOLY SHIT! I swear that I touched my canopy fabric with my left hand and my canopy immediatley twisted up about 6 or 7 times locking my left toggle into turning position. I lost altitude rapidly and should have cut away... The g's that I experienced were severe but I'm a fighter and believed that I could untwist my lines.. So I started kicking my feet and spreading my risers. My hard deck beeper went off as I had loosened the twists enough for my break line to return to normal position and slowed down but did not stop my spins. I had my hand on the pillow but looked down to notice that I was directly above the airport and a long row of planes and concrete and looked up again and made the final choice to keep working on the twists. I took a breath and swung my body the opposite direction in a barrel roll maneuver and unspun all the way to about 200 feet where I had time to set up and flare (coincidentally near the spot where I normally land) crosswind. Please save the criticism here If I could do this jump again I would cut away at a higher altitude instead of taking so much time to correct my problem adding unnecessary risk. Now That's What I Call Service
Antithesis replied to cruzit's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have video of my protrak getting ripped off of my nvertigo x helmet. So I sent Larsen and Brusgaard a letter asking about hard housings for helmets and they sent me a new protrack and an ankle mount as I had already ordered a new one from my dealer. I don't believe that there is better customer service on the planet. (I did send them a thank you check for partial value because I was so amazed that they could do this) I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky -
I just wanted to unload something that’s bugging me.

We all know how a bad situation can bring out the asshole in somebody. It sounds like this guy was just trying to vent. Nevertheless, I'm touchy about people handling my gear especially some cromagnon who's going to educate the world on how it's the equiptments fault that a jumper couldn't operate his Emergency Procedures I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky -
We use Hop n pops at our dz 1 to practice canopy skills 2 to save cash and skip altitude (cessna dz) 3 to still get jumps out of an otherwise cloudy day ... If the clouds are two low for much free fall but still skydiveable..We use the term "Hop n' poppable" I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky

It would be nice to have a few competitions and possibly some sponsorship here in the states to get people involved

I would like to see a forum for....
Antithesis replied to sangiro's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Now that would be cool. Perhaps a little in excess but still fun. Maybe a states forum for a limited time only to get to know all the dz'ers from your state or maybe a states forum every 3rd month for a week like a special event. But, why stop there, It would be ignorant to think that this site is not international why not include all the countries that enjoy skydiving? I travel the land, Work in the ocean, Play in the sky
