[sigh, shakes head] You're still so easily distracted by shiny, sparkly things! Maybe NOW you'll learn your lesson. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Or striving for personal successes/achievements. Nat -- Would you have been happier simply having a job that doesn't challenge you, never knowing how else you could have grown intellectually/professionally? I'm coming to a point in my life where maybe I'd like to switch gears, just have a "job" that isn't that difficult and stay in one place, but I wouldn't change where my life has taken me thus far. Okay, still trying to find out if anyone knows of this one! (although the other posts have been entertaining too!) See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

I just learned that a Marine at my embassy proposed to his girlfriend (successfully) after they both completed their tandems in Las Vegas. It would have been recent -- probably Feb or March-ish timeframe. Was anyone here at that one? Trying to track down video or photos as a surprise to him (he's stationed here without her due to the circumstances of the job). So far, so good for me. My "gear bag" is a rolling duffel with a hard bottom and a separate section for the rest of my gear. My rig is protected on the bottom and sides by the construction of the case, and the top is protected by the jumpsuits, helmet and other gear I pack into the other section. I've checked it through to Turkey from the US, and back, a couple of times. I've also traveled around the US like that, checking it through each time. Sometimes I secure the rig compartment with a TSA lock, and put my Cypres card in with the rig, but so far, every time my luggage is randomly searched, it's my suitcase and not my rig. The first thing I do when I get it off of the luggage belt is to check my rig thoroughly (especially the handles and the reserve pin), but so far, I've had no issues. I also do make sure to check in with plenty of time for my gear to make it to the plane, and schedule flights so that any connections are comfortable ones. The one time my gear did not make it to my flight was because I got to the airport with less than 2 hours before my flight, and the line to check in bags was INSANELY long! Everything arrived the following day, in perfect condition. However, I am not willing to let that happen again (being my fault), and especially not internationally. One other recommendation: make sure all of your serial numbers/DOM information is WITH YOU if you choose to check your rig through. This way, if your stuff turns up missing, you'll still have your info with you when you need to file the report. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

I used to say that the price of Physics textbooks was inversely proportional to the size. (Case in point, largest was PHY 151 book, and lowest price -- and available "used" from the bookstore. Smallest was Nuclear Physics, and most expensive). Of course, Nuke was only taught ever other year (sometimes not even that frequently), and since there were only three of us in the class, the prof had to order the books himself. While that definitely saved us money compared to going through the bookstore, it was still quite pricey. On the one hand, since it's such a rare course, we didn't have anyone to sell the books to afterward! On the other hand, those who went on to graduate-level Medical Physics could keep it for reference. I was not one of those students, and still have the book. Anyone interested? Okay, new opening page loaded today. LOVE IT!!! Add to the design is the bonus that it requires one less page load than before. Nice!! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

I actually got a notice on Skype that it was his birthday (including year). It's pretty easy to get lots of birthday wishes when you're fishing! Plus, since his age is on there, I guess we kind of feel like he needs a part with cake, funny hats, and a pony. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

To me, that's like saying, "if you have nothing to hide, why can't I search your stuff?" Perhaps he didn't want to put the rest of the USPS team through the arbitration process? Maybe there were guys on that team who have other reasons to stay out of the spotlight (I'm not saying doping, just trying to find some other reasons why he chose not to fight it). Maybe his health is in jeopardy again, and he just doesn't want to give this story legs any longer than it already has. Maybe he'd rather focus on his charity work (plenty of people still supporting him at this point, so his charity is still doing well). Okay, those are a few reasons why he would not want to go through the process to prove himself innocent (and in the court of public opinion, all it takes is an accusation during the process). Until the ICU recognizes the decision and strips his titles, Lance Armstrong is still the official winner of 7 Tour de France titles. Don't forget he was "Snuffy" too! Holy crap, that's funny! Did you watch the Bert & Ernie parody that recommended on that same page?

Yeah, I've been trying NOT to count down to this weekend, too! It's already Saturday where I am.

Hey, Meso! Any reason why the login prompt is no longer on the main page? It's one more step to have to click to another page to log in. I'm on a rather slow connection, so any extra page loading is tiresome. Thanks, and congrats on the re-acquisition!

I'm no expert at this, but I'm guessing my weight counteracts some of the forward speed when the canopy is "planing out" after half brakes. The smaller canopy can't fly me forward as fast. That being said, it won't surprise me if more experienced people have other opinions... I also don't know why, but my landings also improved greatly when I went down to a 190 from a 210. Now I'm under a 170 that I just LOVE!!

So wrong on so many levels! I am impressed by those two women being able to get through that "broadcast" without totally losing it. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump! -
