And, that sir goes right to the core of our culture. Not what's good for America. What's good for me right now. Can you even imagine if someone used the word, "Ration" these days? Wal-Mart will go out of business if it can't sell Chinese-made goods for bargain basement prices. Ration? Businesses already make a ton of money on the backs of their low-income workers right here in the U.S. If/when prices go up, the voters most affected will be those who have to make their income stretch the furthest. And these are not the ones most benefitted by the tax plan. They're already rationing. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Who would you have voted differently in this situation?

Where are the options for independents? ETA: I disagree that Clinton was an inelegant stateswoman. I thought she presented herself just fine, especially compared to many of the other candidates in the field. I was insulted by how she was characterized during the election. Please be careful with whom you lump into a particular moniker. It does nothing for your cause. Let's try this again: Much more appropriate. I agree with this spokesperson: ...or to mutilate animals. Yes, let's disagree on policy. And let's all be evolved humans who can express their opinions intelligently. People on all sides of an issue (yes, I'm trying to help you here, Marc) should consider their own legitimacy when deciding how to express themselves in opposition to another's actions. Trump must just not be edumacated enough to understand all that arrogant ivory tower sequential thinking. But since he won the presidency, such thinking is now politically incorrect and will not be tolerated. Sound bite thinking is our new standard; if you can't express a thought in 140 characters, it is too complex and elitist to fit into our national discourse. Um... I did. Yeah, as if tariffs have no effect on anything else that has to do with building a car. Increased steel costs lead to increased car prices. Then, of course, the cars won't be exported (i.e., SOLD), because of the tariffs still in place in the countries that used to buy our cars. Just because it's made here, doesn't mean it can only make money here. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Then my dad's wife complained that the media was way too critical of Melania's wearing stilettos as she left the White House when the Trumps were headed to Texas to check out hurricane damage. At least Michelle was wearing a sneaker. Who wears high heels to a natural disaster?? See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

And now, back to our original topic. After reading the article I wouldn't say they have nothing to lose. Instead, I thought, "better to stay quiet and be thought a fool than open your mouth and confirm it." See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Just be aware, that on the road, everyone is your enemy. Be very visible, and trust no other vehicle or driver. They all want to kill you. Same with every pedestrian and animal! When I used to ride, I got into the habit of saying aloud, "everything out there is trying to kill me" as the last thing I did before moving. It kept my awareness right where it should be. Congrats, A! Have fun and be safe. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Exactly. Just because it's UNCLASS (FOUO, PII) does not mean it can be on public domain (you and I wrote the same thing). But CONFIDENTIAL is classified, so that's the one thing I was correcting. It cannot be on NIPR. And again, we agree on what Clinton did. It was NOT illegal. Against policy? Absolutely. But illegal? Nope. (and not to DanG in particular) Spillage can happen accidentally as well, meaning you could inadvertently type something in an email on an unclassified network (her travel schedule, for example, would have been classified until that travel was in the past, so it's not that hard to do mistakenly). But mistakes get investigated -- they do not get prosecuted. Prosecution comes if the investigation finds harmful intent or willful negligence. The MANY investigations into Sec. Clinton's use of a private server determined that there was no harmful intent nor willful negligence. Also that information that was determined to be classified, was not classified at the time it was sent via email. Of course, one has to be careful when discussing things over unsecured networks that sensitive (possibly classify-worthy) information is not transmitted, but there is a reasonable-person test that goes toward that. It happens more than most people know, even in organizations like DoD, where we're forced to get training on the handling of classified every year for the duration of our careers (most people spend far less time in government service, and even less with handling classified, so those lessons don't sink in as deeply). whew. Okay, rant over. I just get tired of the fringe crowd parroting the "lock her up," and "it was a CRIME!" when they have no idea what they're talking about. Thanks, Dan, for letting me rant on your post. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Don't smoke anything while you're trying to heal. It reduces oxygen in your system, which slows the healing process. You also have less ability to absorb calcium and other essential minerals that are building blocks for recovery. Eat well, get lots of sleep, get some fresh air and some kind of exercise, and use ice for pain. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Confidential is still classified. It also does not belong in any kind of public domain. "For Official Use Only" is unclassified, but not for public dissemination. Also does not belong on public domain. "PII," or personally identifiable information, is also unclassified. And also does not belong on public domain. For the last time (and I've been working in government for close to 30 years): it is not illegal. It is against policy, in general, but it is not illegal. About the most trouble you can get in is if you accidentally screw something up, and you get a stern talking to about the fact you're supposed to use your official account for business, and save your personal account for personal stuff. That's it. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

It's obvious you don't watch CNN. On the contrary, on all the shows last night and this morning, the hosts were stating that Trump definitely has chosen a different path to getting Kim to the table, and gotten further with the dictator than any previous administration (read: they're admitting that Trump did a good thing here). They still agree that Trump got nothing substantial out of it while Kim got legitimacy and some exercises canceled. But, they also reported that they hope the president's faith in the progress and process will yield some positive outcomes. They will wait to see what Kim actually does to follow up these promises/claims before passing judgement on the whole endeavor. I agree that the U.S. had to try something, since what we've been doing so far hasn't worked. However, I also disagree that it should have been POTUS himself. Both Sec. States have been there -- THAT was a good first step. Jumping straight to POTUS, giving Kim legitimacy on the world stage was too much. Then not only cancelling military readiness exercises, but calling them "war games," in exchange for NO specifics on NK nuclear capabilities or sites (let alone any talk of a denuclearization plan) was just moronic. In other news -- one of the pool reporters came back saying Trump had shown a video to Kim (and other attendees) before their meeting, in Korean, then showed it to Kim directly on Trump's tablet. The video turned out to be a sales pitch. Trump seems to see N. Korea as unspoiled, CHEAP land, with really cheap labor, on which to build his next resort or high-end development. Now it's all making sense. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Excellent! I encourage her to "throttle back" for a bit. The pain may not seem like much, but that contusion will make the bone weaker and subject to stress fractures. Plus, the other structures (ligaments, muscles) will be picking up the slack and also over stress, possibly leading to other types of issues. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, as they say. One less double-back, one more day off the vault, could be the difference between full recovery and a whole season out of competition. Cable guy has customer who won't take No for an answer
TriGirl replied to Bob_Church's topic in The Bonfire
According to the article, a lot of comments are about how men can't be sexually assaulted. That pisses me off that in this day and age so many people still have that mindset. It's hard enough to combat the mindset that when a woman are assaulted, too many people blame her clothes, being alone in that situation, etc. We're starting to make strides against that, but still... Any of those posters should get taken by surprise at someone grabbing their hand unexpectedly and placing it in an inappropriate spot. It takes a minute for your mind to catch up with what's happening. Then how much is that guy supposed to fight back? What would their comments be if he had injured her in his attempt to get away? It's disgusting. She deserved to get arrested and charged. Well done cable guy, well done law enforcement. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump! -
Just to be clear, are you posting this just as a side note? What's interesting about the U.S. border control is that we have no requirement to "check out" when leaving the country; only "check in" at passport control when entering. This is one contributor to the ease of overstaying a visa. Some other countries you can't leave the country unless you show that you're up to date on your residency/visit requirements. If your visa expires and you haven't departed, your name pops up on a list and they come looking for you. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
