  1. I live in SF also (Mission area) and I jump at SkyDance (near Davis) most and Hollister second-most often. Both are about 1.5 hours away, both are good DZs.
  2. I pack my own until it gets so hot that I'm sweating buckets and sticking to my canopy too much to get it into the bag neatly (it's a 190). Then I make sure the packers have work.
  3. 466, but I use it as a networking tool and to keep track of social events in my area (San Fran). Of those who I actually see post items or who can see what I post, I'd guess maybe 150, of which at least 100 are skydivers. Funny that someone I've never met from the skydiving world I'll have "60 friends in common" with, but someone I've known all of my life I'll have 15 or so.
  4. I like my Z1, though it's the only full-face I've used. There are audible pockets on either side... I keep my N3 in one and spare ear plugs in the other. I added a little velcro tape to the side with my N3 to keep it from slipping out when I carry it around. It's lightweight and comfortable (for me). The only downside is that the visor can be difficult to open with gloves on. Also I've left the plane twice forgetting to close my visor, so that's something you'll have to get used to doing.
  5. The full packing videos are here and are worth watching: http://www.performancedesigns.com/pdzone/packingvideos.asp I mostly leave my nose alone, but I make sure the center cell is opened a little bit and the outside cells are even (not rolled or whatever). My openings are 90% on-heading on a Sabre2 190.
  6. Yeah the trash-packs ("hurry up you're on this load") seem to open nicely for me, too, but it's not a habit I want to get into. ;) I get some crap for taking 15 mins to pack my rig (Sabre2 190 in a Mirage G4), but I'm perfectly happy taking my time and I have very consistent openings.
  7. Somewhat related: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3915048
  8. I did my AFF at SkyDance in Davis, CA (just west of Sac). Great DZ, great instructors, very safety-conscious. http://skydance.net
  9. Seen HERE I definitely appreciated your "teaching" approach on my second tandem jump, JP. I signed up for AFF that day.
