  1. No jumps at all this weekend... :-( oh well... next week. I'll be jumping HOPEFULLY Friday and Sunday. It'll be much warmer. Depending on the weather in the afternoon, I may do a jump or two then as well. So yea, we may just run into one another this weekend. If you disbelieve everything because we cannot certainly know all things, we shall do much-what as wisely as he would not use his legs, but sit still and perish because he had no wings to fly.-JL
  2. Hey everyone!! I am currently fundraising for the local Special Olympians. Next Saturday, January 16th, myself and a few hundred others will be participating in the Polar Plunge! This year, it will be held at Aquatica by Seaworld in Florida! I'm currently putting together a team to fundraise together as well as (obviously) trying to raise some money myself. If anyone is interested in possibly putting a SKYDIVERS TEAM together, please reply to the post or visit www.FirstGiving.com/MeganWatsonDOM[url]!! I'd love to see a great turnout!! If you don't want to actually dip into the chilled pool, you can become a Virtual Plunger. I hope to hear from you all soon!! Megan ABOUT THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS FLORIDA POLAR PLUNGE: What is the Polar Plunge? It's a Plunge into cold water to raise money for Special Olympics Florida. Aquatica is usually warm & tropical but for one day only they're icing down their wave pool so you can experience the “thrill of the chill” while supporting a great cause. How can you participate? Become a Plunger, Virtual Plunger, or Sponsor a Plunger Who can Plunge? Those who raise at least $50 may take the Plunge. Plungers receive an official commemorative Plunge gear & bragging rights. The incentives & prizes increase based on the amount of money you raise. Minimum age to Plunge is 15. Where is the Plunge taking place? Aquatica - SeaWorld's Waterpark (Orlando) When is the Plunge? January 16, 2010. Registration begins at 9:30AM. Opening Ceremony and Plunge at 11:00AM. Why are we Plunging? You'll be freezin' for reason! All proceeds support Special Olympics Florida. You can join a team when you register or at anytime through your Plunge fundraising page. Teams consist of a minimum of 10 Plungers who have each met the $50 goal. Plungers may only be part of ONE team. I'm unable to attend the Polar Plunge, but would like to raise funds for the event through a personal fundraising page. No problem! You can register as a Virtual Plunger. Visit www.specialolympicsflorida.org/polarplunge for full details! 5. What an amazing story! That's just about what my sister and I did. Thank goodness, my mom found the cancer early enough and they just took all of it out as soon as possible. But since then, she's always been the first to encourage my sister and myself to do what we want and live life they way it should be lived. Good for you, glad you've joined the forums. 6. Oh!! speaking of ice cold pools, NEXT Saturday, the 16th, I'm helping with a fundraiser with local Special Olympians. One thing I didn't know is that the special olympians depend on contributions from others. They, nor their families, pay to train to or be in the special olympics. So, I'm doing what's called the Polar Plunge. At Aquatica, they'll be chilling one of the wave pools and we are going to take a dip to raise some money for these brave kids and adults!! I've raised $50 so far!! If you want to join (it'll be a cold one!) or donate go to the link in my signature!! Oh yea, and all the "plungers" get to hang out at Aquatica for the rest of the day!! Raise $250 and you get to eat for free all day and 2 tickets to come back another day. If you disbelieve everything because we cannot certainly know all things, we shall do much-what as wisely as he would not use his legs, but sit still and perish because he had no wings to fly.-JL

Oh I know, I've done a tandem when it was about 60s, it wasn't HORRIBLE especially when we got into the sunshine. yea, I'm looking forward to then, unfortunately, I won't be doing that type of plunge that weekend. I'm actually involved in a fundraiser for the special olympics then! I'll be at Aquatica doing the Polar Plunge. If you disbelieve everything because we cannot certainly know all things, we shall do much-what as wisely as he would not use his legs, but sit still and perish because he had no wings to fly.-JL
  16. lol you all are hilarious!! SkyMama, I look forward to seeing you out there sometime! I just nailed down the schedule with Nick. I'll be doing ground school Friday afternoon and then jumps Saturday and Sunday. As per Michigan jumpers- we are going to be down in the 40s on those days, so, we'll be feeling your pain!! If you disbelieve everything because we cannot certainly know all things, we shall do much-what as wisely as he would not use his legs, but sit still and perish because he had no wings to fly.-JL
  17. Welcome to the site/forums!! I have the same predicament, scrapping up the little bit of extra change to pay for it. Expensive addictionhuh? My last was tattooing and body mods, so this is a little cheaper... Blue skies! 18. Yea, I'll be with Nick (red haired South African man). My second instructor, I'm not sure of. My sister used to work at the indoor skydiving tunnel in Orlando and I met Nick quite a while back. When I decided to do my AFF, she said without a hesitation to go with Nick. She learned with him and she said he was just amazing. He's really excited to work with me. I'm familiar with both Nikki and Manny. Have you been to any of the big events at deland? my sister and I went when they were doing 100-way kaleidoscopes. Awesome. I thoroughly suggest that you go out to those. The next time they have the kaleidoscopes. If you disbelieve everything because we cannot certainly know all things, we shall do much-what as wisely as he would not use his legs, but sit still and perish because he had no wings to fly.-JL

  20. Hey everyone! My name is Megan and after doing two tandems, I decided that I'd just rather jump on my own! I'm scheduled to start my AFF next weekend!! I'm so excited but it's going to be so cold! (highs in the 50s!!) I live in Titusville, FL, but my preferred DZ is Deland. I do, however, have quite a large amount of tunnel time- I was a little nervous about not being able to know/do anything in the sky. In the tunnel, I'm working on sit flying right now. I look forward to meeting lots of other skydivers! If you disbelieve everything because we cannot certainly know all things, we shall do much-what as wisely as he would not use his legs, but sit still and perish because he had no wings to fly.-JL
