  1. Just spoke with my insurance company. They said it would not be considered an aircraft since it doesn't have an engine. So, it sounds like I'm covered. Good to know.
  2. Holy math error Batman. So, the dollar amount definitely isn't an issue. So now I just have to find out if that bag of nylon is an aircraft.
  3. Doing some research into my existing homeowners insurance policy through Liberty Mutual insurance to see if my rig would be covered if it gets stolen. I intend to contact my insurance company with these questions also but just wanted to see what others personal experiences have been with using your homeowner's policy on a stolen rig. My policy says that... Our limit of liability for personal property usually located at an "insured's residence, other than the "residence premises," is 10% of the limit of liability for Coverage C, or $1000, whichever is greater. My interpretation... My limit of liability for Coverage C (Personal Property with Replacement Cost) is $150,000. So I interpret that as meaning, my insurance company would pay $1500 (10%) for any single personal property item. If my rig was stolen, would that be considered one item? Or would it be considered a container, main canopy, reserve canopy, and AAD? Also, my policy has this under "Property Not Covered"... Aircraft and parts. Aircraft means any contrivance used or designed for flight, except model or hobby aircraft not used or designed to carry people or cargo. Based on that, I could see my insurance company saying that my skydiving gear is considered "Aircraft" and wouldn't be covered. Am I right?
  4. What bag do you use? I also have a 210/218 combo and I'm looking for something that I can put my rig in for travel as carry-on.
  5. In time you'll have no friends outside the sport.
  6. Any updates on this movie? I had my calendar marked as today (9/30/11) being the release date which is what they had shown on their official website.
  7. It's probably nothing to do with the metal. Mine is off 180 degrees in the plane also but that's because I'm facing the back of the plane. The watch (or keychain in your case) doesn't know what direction you are facing. It assumes you are facing the direction you are moving since that's how most humans travel. So you should look at the compass as if you were sitting in the pilot's seat.
  8. I often jump with a Garmin Forerunner 305. It's a running watch and I bought it for when I go running. But have been jumping with it. I have a target set on the peas of my DZ and then I basically have it set on navigation mode with that target as the destination. Then the watch will show you a compass with the arrow pointed to the DZ and your distance in miles and time from the DZ (based on your current speed). I pretty much just use the watch to log jumps and also for when I'm sitting on the plane and wondering where we are relative to the DZ. I definitely wouldn't use it as an altimeter though. One thing I did find very useful about it is if you do a cross country. It makes finding the DZ a little easier. Also it's nice to see how far away you are. But I pretty much just only look at it on the plane and just use it as a GPS logger (if I remember to hit the start button before I jump). You download your jumps (runs) afterwards and you can see an image in Google Earth of where your were horizontally and also a chart of your elevation and speeds. I'm not familiar with the Foretrex, but I'm assuming it is somewhat similar to the Forerunner. In which case I would say hell no to using it as an altimeter.
  9. Wow. That is awful news. I never met Robyn but I did enjoy reading her very long posts on here.
  10. Congrats. But don't forget to wave off before deploying your pilot chute.
  11. From the manual... "The SOLO II can be manually powered OFF to further extend the battery life time when not in use."
  12. If you want to avoid paying the shipping and handling, your local gun stores probably carry these also. Paid $10 for them myself.
  13. buywithme (another Groupon-type site) has done that in the past.
  14. There was a column about that jump in the Dec. 2010 issue of Maxim. I was told that it would be shown on the 4th episode (Dec. 12th?) of the show. Not sure where my source got that from so it may or may not be true.
  15. Downplane transitioned to a side by side. Main and reserve were similar in size.
  16. I was in an upright orientation when I had my two out last month. I didn't recognize I had two out and just saw my main canopy diving down and got focused on that and didn't recognize based on my body position that I had to have an open canopy behind me.
  17. So I need to get an analog and audible alti to be used with a Bonehead Pimpdaddy helmet. For the analog I already have a new Alti-2 Galaxy (which needs some repairs). For the audible I was thinking of getting a Solo II. Is that combination of visual/audible/helmet compatible? I'm not sure if the audible is compatible with the helmet and also if it needs to be used in conjunction with an Altitrack or if it operates as it's own independent altimeter.

  20. I'm currently on Category F of my training. Which Category will my instructors teach me Swoop and Chug techniques? That must be a coach jump.
