Not even close. Hannes has been BASE jumping longer than most of the people on these forums have been skydiving. He's also verifiably jumped all of the above wingsuits. He's known, respected, and recognized by BASE jumpers the world over. That's about as far from a troll as I can imagine. Now, who are you, Mr. Policeman? Another thought: I think he ought to be on the list (probably the bottom section) somewhere as a cautionary tale. I know of at least 3 other loads done in a similar fashion (skydive to the top, then repack and jump the object). People would want to know why the mods hadn't read "that post" during the two hour waiting period, and deleted or modified it. Basically, I'd expect you'd see people getting upset if the mods didn't read every post within the time limit, prior to posting. There is a post here about High Velocity brand armor. It appears to be significantly cheaper than the Dianese armor, and the manufacturer claims better results for long term use. Definitely worth checking it out. You might also want to search this forum for a couple other threads about body armor. In terms of knee/shin guards, I've been quite pleased with my Dianese pants, of which I believe a counterpart is also available from High Velocity at a lower price. I've also got a couple pairs of Fox (that's the mountain biking/motorcycle folks, not the BASE canopy) knee pads that have built in shin guards. In that case I'd have to say the way the bridle is folded in the pc would have to be a determining factor. Perhaps. Personally, I think the biggest factor is the way the bridle is stowed (inside the PC at all). The best fix I've seen is a secondary bridle pocket that stages the bridle as the PC moves to bridle extension. In my experience, it's actually direction of throw that causes the problem. Pitch forward, into the relative wind, and you end up with the PC trying to inflate throught the "flailing wad of bridle". If you dig around, you can find Nick's post on this. He suggested that we all take out life insurance policies that benefit a "BASE Memorial Foundation." As folks go in, the money is used to build additional floors onto a building (presumably with some kind of memorial to the jumper at "their" floor). It's probably better to pop the toggles to a point well past half brakes. From deep brakes to half brakes will still cause a surge. You ought to be bringing the toggles to the same point as the brakes held them (i.e. to deep brakes), to avoid the surging (into the ground, object, etc).
