Initial report in incident forum here. This was an experienced jumper who had been jumping the site for several years. Name has not yet been made public. Do you think Draco will end up "reformed" by the end of the next book? Honestly, I'm wondering if JK Rowling hasn't decided to teach the lesson that sometimes people just do bad things. Sean, Can you be more specific about what you mean by "slidergate"? When you say "slidergate" I tend to picture the setup that Jaap describes, below, rather than the one he apparently is envisioning. Can you elaborate on which of these you are interested in? I used the one Jaap is referring to for about 50 jumps on a Mojo 260. I am of the opinion that a non-restrictive tracking suit (like the Phoenix Fly tracking suit) would be a great option for anyone's first terminal jumps. Being sure that you do some skydives on it first to understand how the track feels different, I don't really see a downside on launch or opening, and I see some major positives in terms of getting away from the object, especially if you take some time getting into a good track, or if your track isn't quite perfect (both reasonable possibilities since you'll be somewhat taken with other things on your first terminal jump). -- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

Reading some of the past threads in the forum is also a good idea, both to learn things and to get a feel for the forum's flow. After that, you're pretty much good to go. I think in general people are only "willing" to believe such things with "no evidence at all" when those things pretty much go along with their own underlying beliefs.
