  1. Like you said skydiving is safe, people are risky. Similar in traffic. If you put a car on the road it's as safe as it can be,but if you put a driver in it too it can be verrrryyy dangerous. Exactly the same with skydiving. so it's all up to you if it's safe or not. It's as safe as you make it (packing, flying, opening, landing...) About risk, huh Everyday living is risky
  2. All i know is that they have SCHWEEEEETTTT mirages G3, pictures are on mirage site.
  3. hmm i don't have the same opinion. I think the skydiving did get safer, only that the majority of skydivers got stupider at the same time. "George just lucky i guess!"
  4. So none rally cares about the weigh of the camera. It's only 310g. I guess all the downsides overcome the lightweight "George just lucky i guess!"
  5. moi, i guess... "George just lucky i guess!"
  6. hassle with Nonlinear video edits? do you mind explaining what is that "George just lucky i guess!"
  7. -Sony PC8 (MiniDV, weighs around 600g) -Sony IP5 (MicroMV, weighs around 350g) price is exactly the same for me, both have 800K CCD, IP5 is a little smaller than PC8,... Which camera would you choose and why? "George just lucky i guess!"
  8. Huh if sharks would know me and my hunger, i think they'd be more afraid that i'll bite them Yeah i know, actually you have more chance to die on a crossroad than being bitten by a shark... man with this post you florida people won't only convince bobsled to move there. i know i'm on a good way to make florida my home if i'll keep reading this post "George just lucky i guess!"
  9. What about sharks at florida beaches? Or is that mumbo jumbo on national geographics, and discovery just that and nothing is true? "George just lucky i guess!"
  10. how about something like this: http://www.garmont.com/products_details.html?id=48&type=outdoors&category=traillite&page=1 "George just lucky i guess!"
  11. Let me be the first to say: DEMO And i think stane could arange some demon for demo jumps. Maybe i have some landings of it on tape from mondial 2003 in gap (france). "George just lucky i guess!"

    Mirage G4

Yes that's true, you have more lines on one side than the other, but the opening is still symmetrical. i do as you said. first stow i put off to the left second, right and third to the left and so on... i had the same question because the manual wasn't so detailed. at mirage they said it doesn't matter on which side the first stow is pointed or from where lines come, it just has to be through both grommets. Mirage G4

Don't let me even get started about your relationship with your voodoo jerry: see George they were looking at my voodoo not your mirage, so it must be better, see... About that split bag... what 3 gromets are you putting first rubber band through. first rubber goes only through 2 grommets. one that "unsplits" the bag, and the first locking-closing grommet.there are only 3 closing grommets and one that "unsplits" the bag at G4.1 D-bag. G4.0 had 4 closing grommets + unsplitting grommet and first rubber still goes only through first two grommets. at G4.1 D-bag there is no way stows are unsymmetrical, they are only more symmetrical because of the middle grommet. top ten things i want at my dream rig: get mirage G4 with all the options, it has all the things i'd want from a rig "George just lucky i guess!"
  14. Well you don't really look straight in the horizon when you step down. That way you can't tell what you'll step on. Look not 45* at the ground but lets say around 70* or 60* i'm don't know the exact angle. during flare you should look not where you'll step at, but a couple of feets ahead (I don't know, around 30, depends on the speed of the canopy) Well the point is that you look at that angle during the flare. A moment before you finish the flare and step on the ground, you definitely look down what you'll put your feet on to. That's the best advice i can give. More details should be given by more experienced guys than me. Because i also am still learning.
  15. lately there is a swoop lane on every dz i'm jumping at, if the dz doesn't have one already. I made it of 1m long and 3mm thick wires, and put 5cm foam around the wire. so they are "easily" transferable. and you can hit them fall on them and you won't even feel that you hit it. i have 12 of those "blades" Oh and it's name is swoosh "George just lucky i guess!"
  16. I had same problem, when i switched to different type of goggles. But instead of getting rid of those new goggles, rather look more at the horizon when landing. if you don't look at the ground you don't actually need a perception. you know how the world looks when you're standing on the ground with or without the depth perception. So look more towards the horizon (forward) and not at the ground. Well it helped me. "George just lucky i guess!"
  17. well i could put stilleto 120 with PD 126R in my mirage G4 MT (they say G4 MT is same as G3 MT, so no difference here). I also packed atair impulse/alpha 135 in it. that surely was tight, but it was "jumpable". i don't know about stilleto 135. if stilletos 135 pack volume is the same as impulses 135 pack volume, than maybe. But with impulse 135, main container was reaaalllyy tight and it was noticable that the main is too big for this container. And it is likely that you'll stretch out the container my advice is: listen to the manufacturer, if you want to jump 135, get a bigger container. MT is designed for 120 max. even my cobalt 120 is tight in there. 105 would be just about right for MT "George just lucky i guess!"
  18. i smell cobalt accusing again Ehm i think you missed something 3-4 seconds opening are loooong. look some videos and count the seconds. 3-4 second openings are soft openings. And as i said, when i got the domed slider, i didn't have to be precise any more. I can trash pack it and it still opens nicely. So no more nice openings in just the right configuration, but nice openings in almost all configurations. Cobalt is a more or less HP canopy. Same like at all HP canopies, you sacrifice freedom of doing as you like for joy and speed. Small HP canopies don't forgive as much as the bigger square one do. and you have to play by the rules to survive when flying/opening HP canopies. if you don't like the rules, get a 7 cell loaded 1.0 :1 at most. with that you can virtually open on your back and it will open nicely, probably a little harder, but you'll survive. Anyway you can start accusing cobalt and the usual, i said what i had in mind. Go on and make cobalt look a bad canopy with bad openings, like the conversation about cobalt usually ends, though mine opens and flies great. Again i'm sorry if you'll despair over such a great canopy after 3 or a little more jumps. oh BTW i don't have any special configuration. like i said at the start, i have mirage g4, with 28" f-111 PC and cobalt comp. 120. and it opens almost too nice (i'm not lying !) p.s.: You have to earn the love of cobalt , i guess i did
  19. Before you throw the canopy away, try some things. When i got my cobalt competition. (luckily from Stane) he said that this canopy is sent back from US because it has hard openings, and if i'd like to try it, i can. so i did take it. i had about 10 slammers on that canopy. but when i figured the packing i got only 1 slammer on every 5 jumps. what i did was that i pushed the nose in as far as i could, pulled the slider out in front about 2-3 ", and rolled the tail really tight. after you do that you have to be really careful to put the canopy down and in the bag without changing the packing much. sure 1 slammer of 5 is barely enough. so i went to stane and he gave me the domed slider. it's not a slider with pocket but it's shape is different. it's not flat it's domed, somewhat like a baloon if you cut it in half. when i put that slider up, i got nothing but good openings. after that, if i packed the canopy neatly and carefully i got up to 6seconds long opening (it's on camera) and not just sniveling. sniveling was about 3s and 3s it took to spread out the canopy, so no snatch force at the end. if i trash packed the canopy (without pushing the nose in, or pulling the slider out,...) it opens in about 3-4 seconds (not a slammer) So if you really like how the canopy flies, try at least that things i did. after that you'll love the openings too. If cobaltdan can't/won't provide those things, send me a PM and i'll gave you the phone number of someone who will - Atair in Slovenia (customer service is almost perfect) "George just lucky i guess!"
  20. I have the exact same configuration. Though i use mirages 28" f-111 PC. and the openings are very soft, up to 7 seconds - around 1000 feet sometimes. I think she should be fine with this setup. but if you have the main canopy packed in tight, i'd ask mirage what do they think about 24" zp for opening. "George just lucky i guess!"
  21. L-410 is my favorite plane too "George just lucky i guess!"
  22. What do you girls drink when you're in a bar? This has nothing to do with casies thread of drink personalities "George just lucky i guess!"
  23. how can extra bulk at toggles force riser covers to open. when packed correct, toggles are at the bottom of reserve sides, and nut under tuck tabs, where bulk would cause a problem. What do you mean by that, i can pull my slider over my toggles without a problem, so i guess toggles don't catch my grommet? How can that be? the toggles are not over you shoulder but at the sides of the reserve. so they are not bent but straight, and safely covered with riser covers. and even if you would bend them over the shoulder the way it's supposed to be packed (toggle is turned down, when over shoulder, not up right?), the toggles would be even more firmly tucked, because upper and lower part would be squeezed together, so i don't see how is it possible to pop the toggle by bending the riser. you can see the toggles here http://www.miragesys.com/order/parts/toggles.html The one that i'm talking about are on the left. They are tucked from above and from below, so no matter in which direction they are pushed (by slider or wind) the stay tucked, unles you pull them. Well that's my opinion. If anyone doesn't like them so be it, it's your opinion, and mine opinion is mine.
  24. huh i don't jump either, but i've seen them both. And in my opinion voodoo is much safer for freeflying than voodoo. Hell no! Mirage G4 is. First you have to ask yourself what does safest mean? Is that no bridle exposure, firmly tucked main flap and riser covers, and that it opens safely. In that case wings are just as safe as voodoo or mirage g4. But if safety means also that toggles can't be accidently released, hard housing in risers, secondary riser covers, legstraps stay where they are, chest strap stays tight until you release it,... then you quite fast get down to which container is safer. I advise you to do the same with voodoo and javelin (since you asked about their difference) and you'll see which is safer. though you'll get different answers from all skydivers, it's your call to decide which is safer For me, of those two, voodoo is safer, but the safest for me is mirage g4.
